Jim Baird - Adventurer my co pilot left feb 13’ and I don’t think I am yet. I was lucky to have found your channel. Thx for sharing your experiences. Be safe out there man..
I just found ur channel couple weeks ago. Me and my 5 year old daughter have been binge watching your channel. She was so upset when she found out buck passed away she was upset because you would be alone and not have him to protect you. And keep you company. It was the sweetest thing.
Jim, I'll say this again... I am insanely jealous of you and your adventures. Wish my knees were still solid. Damn!! I love the north. I also saw your video where you had to put Buck down. Soo sad. What a sweet companion. I have lost 3 great dog over the years. The best memories of them are when we were out in the bush. Videos like these immortalize them for us. I am certain that he is up in Doggy heaven looking down and sharing with his brethren pooches on what a great life he had. You and Buck are fortunate companions that happened to have crossed paths in the this life while on the journey to the next one. Rest assured you will both meet up again and he will thank you for all the love and life experiences you gave him. I also think the opposite is true as well. Thanks for posting these videos. "Adventure B4 Dementia" ~GrizzLee
Thanks for taking me along. So impressive to me to take on that journey. Well done on your fitness and your confidence. Also the love for your dog is awesome, he was a trooper❤️
I am enthralled by this expedition; you are fearless! Buck was a loyal companion, right till the end of his life. Such a wonderful adventure for you both. Until the next episode, thank you for sharing.
This trek is just such a great example of the elemental symbiosis that can grow between a dog and a man under these conditions. I'm sure Buck finds the trip as tough as you do, wondering why you are taking the long way around to the dog treat store. But I'm sure he loves having you all to himself.
Oh I'm hoping you stay at the shelter! I could feel the tension - wanting safety and warmth for you and Buck! So tense! This is such rugged and dangerous country! Stay safe!
Thank you and I will do! I don’t know thought those shelter are definitely safer in the wind but they don’t have a heat source. I have my stove fortunately but it warms my tent more efficiently I’d say. That being said though. A full on ripping blizzard....a tent might not hold up. So ya, because I have all the warm cloths and sleeping bag. And enough stove gas for a little while it is safer. Once someone was having trouble and very cold. They got to the shelter but they still died from hypothermia.
Bucks always got a smile on his face. Definitely in his element. It’d have been a different trip without a companion. Cool videos keep the adventures coming
A great Valentine's Day gift for your subscribers, Jimmy! Hope you have a delightful day with your loved ones! Happy Valentine's Day! ~AJ Acey, The Friendly Hermit
Ahhhh....another inspiring video thanks for sharing on Valentine's Day what a nice surprise , an yes your nose looked frozen my friend.Wow I'm impressed large..not easy tripping but You n Buck pushed threw looks to me he had a Great time he just loved that adventure in the snow ....again very impressive CHEERS
The next installment in the comic book... Starving from lack of food, Jim Baird the Adventurer and Buck the Adventure Dog, take down a prehistoric Woolly Mammoth with only a trekker pole and a dog harness. I can see that mammoth leg roasting Flinstones style over the fire pit now!! LMAAAOOOO... Cheers JB!
When you sat and had your tea the background looked like a painting with a man sitting in the front of it. Pretty cool looking. Just an amazing trip. Enjoying every bit of it. Thanks😘Buck is doing amazing.
Jim, this series is absolutely amazing man. You are 100% living the dream. Sometimes suffering can be rewarding as well. Believe me, I know. And love Bucks cam as well. He would've went with you anywhere. ❤
Epic views of the pass throughout the video once again, so awesome Buck was such a good boy have to love him and his endurance . Your the man Jim obviously in the best physical shape a person can be in, thanks so much for this adventure of yourself a buck Buck will never be forgotten he has done so much with yourself as well as Tori, looking again forward to the continuation
Awesome!! Thank you for sharing this epic adventure with us mere mortals!! 🐒 and yes, the power of nature as it reduces us down to our rightful size in the grand scheme of life on this amazing planet!!👣💖🐾
Amazing episode Jim, such great scenery and a real sense of the scale of your undertaking. So glad I found your channel at a tough time for me, you and Buck have really lifted my spirits. Thank you so much for the work that you do!
Another great episode! Cute how Buck decided to dig a nice comfy bed in the snow for himself when you stopped for water, but like a trooper he got up (albeit somewhat reluctantly at first - lol) and he carried on with his sled pulling duties. You and Buck have not ceased to amaze me with your stamina and endurance! Beautiful scenery too. :)
Love your videos, although it’s a little like watching a suspenseful movie-I’m totally freaked by the thought of a polar bear encounter. I’ve just learned of Buck’s passing. He was such a great friend, travel companion, protector and all-around pal. I’m a new subscriber, but I feel like I’ve known and loved Buck for years! I hope that you’ll have the opportunity to love another lucky puppy someday soon.
I have a dog that is a half husky and half, german shepherd. The other day we were out walking, my dog was on a leash and she was pulling me down the road. She is just 10 months old but I was thinking about your dog Buck pulling that sled. I just thought to myself my dog would make a good sled dog. This is a good video I can't wait till the next episode.
Ya, your dog would definitely make a good sled dog. You can teach them with a harness and even just a tire. I used to train buck like that. Just use treats and put them right in front of them so they learn how to get the sled moving
Damn, I like watching you do stuff I could not, but wish I could! I like your dialogue and style. I am a little bit amazed by your dog's stamina and tolerance to the cold. I'll be watching! Plus, you said, "wicked, whipping wind," which was great alliteration.
I've been looking forward to this episode all week. Stunning scenery at the end. Buck really did a hell of a job pulling his own weight on this Trek. I cracked up when he knocked over your camera. Payback LOL.
Great video Jim, that wind tunnel valley looked like super hard work, love the squinty eye thing Buck was doing when you were telling him how well he was doing :-) looking forward to the next one bro. Have a great weekend :)
thats how me teeth all crackled out of me face, drinking hot tea (coco) while frozen to me core eh mate... i couldn't feel me face and burnt me tongue, lips or much of anything at the time and i barely made it back to shelter. ive lost the feeling in my legs before and thats never a good thing when thats all you got to get yourself anywhere, thats how people leave this world way before old age, theirs also the thing with taking the boots off thinking that you can warm up your feet if you just sit down for a little while to rub your feet, it never works without a sizable fire, so your mind tricks you into thinking it can be done, but, once your boots come off you can never get them back on ! So keep the boots on mate and stop to drink tea and after you warm ya belly search for sticks to make a fire, lol or if you cant start a fire because there is nothing to make fire with theres one other suggestion that you should know just in case of an emergency, and that is a secret dried mushroom that has been used for year... you probably already know this dont you, yes i knew you did, hahaha ! :p
I just found your channel through robinets. Im glad you and your dog are mental enough to do these adventures because I find them very interesting and entertaining. Cheers ta
Another amazing video Jim! Buck never missed an opportunity to roll around and have some fun! Hey, you know what you should invent? How about a sled that has a sort of top on it that when it roles over it can still be pulled without slowing down your travels (or Bucks)? Damn Dude, I hope your soul is healing after losing Buck! He was such an awesome Pup and friend! I feel for you Brother!
Excellent work, really have been enjoying your adventures. One thing I do to combat a sled with a high CG in open terrain like that is to strap a extra extended hiking pole on the back of the sled. Doesn’t prevent all rollovers, but it does help a little.. Have a great day and look forward to more of you fantastic work, take care..
Thanks for sharing and providing various angles of your journey. Having to set the camera up, walk back, then walk back with the dog to show these angles makes it even more challenging - appreciate it! Best of luck.
@@JimBairdAdventurer it is an amazing place, certainly. I'm making videos of my adventures in here. The places that you are exploring are amazing in my point of view too!
My 75L sled I use for ice fishing has a rediculous amount of drag. To the point where I could get myself in a lot of trouble with sweat and such. Soo I got an old set of downhill skiis and a dismantled pallet and made a sled "carrier". Man what a difference! It cut the resistance by a good 75% or better. I can pull a fully loaded sled with two fingers. My boots cause more exertion that the sled does now. And it's dead quiet. I wish I could post a picture of it cuz it worked so well, it would be an awesome patent to hold ;)

Jim Baird - Adventurer Jim it’s been awhile and have experience your pain we lost are Rottweiler back in 2015. I know it’s not easy and wish you and your family the best. And thanks for your time and journey.
At 16:57, when you said, "Buck, you knocked over the camera"! The look he gave you was funny---wonder what he was thinking. Just a cool moment I picked up on. I would like to ask why you chose not to use snow-shoes in the soft pack stuff. I know they can be just as much work at times as well. Just curious. Be safe! Roger

Epic scenery Jim. Whites, greys and blacks with a touch of cold.
Buck was a smart dog. His instinct told him to dig a deep enough hole and sleep under there to hide from the wind. Which was smarter than some people.
I´m quite sure for this too!
Great episode, I especially liked the little fact segment about the place.
Great video Jim, very interesting! 👍👍💯💯
Thanks!
And here I thought my backyard was bad! LOL
This trek is TRULY EPIC. Well done Jim!
