  • As many of you know, I just built a new Eastward 24 Catamaran which I trust will be a great riding boat (it was when I tested it in Florida). I also just sold a 32 foot Sea Vee that I owned for 5 years. But I have no doubt that the best riding boat I have ever owned (and the Eastward is my 8th boat) is my 2005 Everglades 290 Pilot that I owned from 2013 to 2015.
    This video chronicles my boat and the incredible discovery I made when I was preparing this video.

    John thanks for this! I'm a family fishing guy and had shown my wife a 290 classified a couple of weeks ago. Tonight I told her "you gotta watch this" and played this on the TV, lots of smiles.
    Your story telling and editing on this was great.
    Thanks for sharing!
    Hopefully I'll see that Eastward out at Block this summer.

    Bought a 290 pilot 2 seasons ago that was up in Maine and brought it down to the south side of cape cod. Absolutely love the boat! My only complaint is i wish it held more fuel but i guess could always get a fuel bladder!

    Awsome video as always. I love when you do this stuff. You think just like all us fisherman think, you think like all us captains and boaters think. And you have had a lot of first had experience with a lot of different boats. I sell and work on boats now and hear all kinds of bs talk from sales and guys that don’t know what they talking about and it shows right away when you do and don’t know your stuff. "A fisherman always see's another fisherman from a far." Keep ‘em coming. every idea you have for a video don’t hesitate we love all them. Can’t wait to see the videos on the eastward

    Everglades definitely makes a great boat. I felt the same way about a 23' Sea Hunt that I owned quite a few years back which also had a 225 Honda on the back out bracket. Looking forward to a video of your Eastward John. 👍👍

    Everglades have the best deadrise I’ve ever seen at 25 degrees so I’m not surprised they own the ocean, built for tough waves

      My Sea Vee 310 was 25 also. The Everglades was wider and rocked less

      @@jiggingjerks oh I know only some See Vee models are 24degrees and some models are less. Obviously 24 is great also that’s why Regulators and contenders have great bad water reps but the Everglades are tanks

    Hi John.
    Thank you for your review.
    I will be taking ownership of a new 315 in a few weeks and keep hearing about the ride quality pitch from their team. I guess it is true after all that the Everglades do ride well.

    Halk, have you ever seen the video on how the Everglades are made? They have a molded and precision fitted “log” system runs bow to stern which makes them one of the strongest and most rigid hull designs on the market. Their current prices are insane but they’re built so well. I’m gonna need to up my UA-cam game if I ever want to purchase one. 😂
    Great video, brother!!

I remember the 1st mako we got back in 87 and that was the craziest thing I had ever seen and was instantly addicted 🤣. Between the jumps, it ramming the boat 3xs, and chewing on an outboard. Then 4 shots from a .357 😂. At 9 years old I found my thing. Then the crowd at the dock with the 367lb shark hanging was so cool

    I have fished the 2018 295 Everglades for the last 5 seasons. Good riding boat for the Gulf. However there are lots of downsides to the setup. 1. Fuel capacity- being on the gulf in Tampa Bay area it is a very long run to the Middle grounds or the Elbow and this rig is at its limit making these runs. 2. fishing- if you are a weekend type guy that wants to get out once in a while and dont fish hard then this boat is for you. For the guy that is a hard core fisherman? there is too many little things added to this boat for the hard core type guy. 3. Setup- this goes back to hardcore or weekend guy. Too many little things to break that are unnecessary to fish hard. but ride? yes it rides heavy and eats big water 100% efficiency? ehhhh

    • @jiggingjerks
      @jiggingjerks  2 місяці тому

      All valid points. It's definitely not a hard core fishing boat and I believe it only had 200 gallons of fuel.

    What was your thought process in choosing the eastward instead of getting another Everglades?

    • @jiggingjerks
      @jiggingjerks  2 місяці тому +1

      Price was primary. A similar sized Everglades would cost double. Also, Everglades doesn’t make a non forward seating model. Lastly, I really wanted the stability of a cat
