- In this video I will show you how to install and make bootable an nvme ssd on a legacy asus motherboard (P8Z77-V) by using a pcie slot.
To do this I will use a Silverstone ECM25 adapter.

Thank you!!!.In some places you ran too fast but you gave link of original source which was useful in understanding the missing points. Thanks for your complete demo.
Thank you very much! I managed to do it just as you advised in the guide. With the ASUS P8Z77-M PRO motherboard with BIOS 2203, the NVME M2 hard drive now boots without any issues. The transfer speed of 1300 MB/s works only in PCI-E 2.0, but it's sufficient.
do u have mail or something to ask for help? i want to do the same with mine
Thank you so much, ive just managed to do in a MOBO P8Z77-V Deluxe and it worked just fine! Fantastic guide! Keep up the great job!
Kudos to all the hobbyist for posting here but somewhere there was a post that indicated that the Samsung EVO Pro NVMe M.2 was one of the very few cards that had a built in "boot loader" (hope the terminology is correct) and would boot Windows10 automatically on an older machine and without any adjustments/hacks to the BIOS!!.... After inserting the adapter/card in a PCI slot, it immediately worked for me on a MSI B75A-G43 M/B!!
Can I know specific model of your Samsung nvme?
This guide worked perfectly for me ASUS RAMPAGE IV EXTREME.
Cloned my smaller SSD, expanded to nvme using Acronis. Didn't even need to reinstall windows, nvme drive showed up after following procedure + reboot after setting UFEI @ CSM and could boot from after that first time. Amazing!
You saved my troubles i appreciate your trick a lot!! my usb flash port is dead of my Asus Rampage IV Extreme and you made it possible , you saved me hours of electronic repairment, love you!!!
Thanks buddy, I have been trying to do this for a week or so, the paper walkthrough was a bit overwhelming and hard to follow, but once I found your video it was all easy peasy!!
Asus x79 Rampage IV Black Edition (that wont boot into the BIOS after version 0602 for some bizarre reason, so none of the available modded BIOS downloads would work)
Did you install P9X79 DELUXE BIOS 2002 first? ASUS states that "BIOS structure changed from .ROM to .CAP for Windows 8 full-functionality." Need it to use later BIOS mods.
Worked on my Asus P8Z68-V PRO i followed the tutorial from win-raid, checked the pad-files and all worked fine, thanks so much for sharing such a good content!
Excellent guide, very useful, nicely done ....thank you !
OMG!!! Worked on P8Z77-v deluxe! Thank you soooooo much. I FELT MY HEART POUNDING FAST DURING THE FLASH WITH THE MODDED FILE but thankfully it worked beautifully, thanks again, Greetings from Brazil!
Faz um tutorial BR se puder. Suplicando aqui!!! kkkkkkk
@@gostoso181 so segue oq o cara fez no video, nao precisa nem entender oq ele fala, hahah... Boa sorte
- In Asus support for your MB go to 'Drivers & Tools' and for OS select 'Others'.
- Download the 'Bios Renamer for USB BIOS Flashback' and use it to rename the modded BIOS.
-Now, I haven't tried this yet, but apparently- you _can_ flash the mod BIOS from a FAT32 thumb-drive (in the dedicated rear IO port) using the BIOS Flashback function which means there is no need to install the horrible Asus AI Suite II (which is then practically impossible to completely remove). ETA >> I've just used this method successfully. I gather the BIOS flashback function isn't on some versions of the P8Z77-V, so our host possibly didn't have the option available.
Thanks so much, this worked perfectly. Btw I love your voice it is like a mix och Christopher Walken and Inspector Clouseau :)
Thank you very much.❤❤❤
I have been trying for 2 days. Until I found your video, Finally I succeeded
procedure works great for ASUS P8P67 PRO (REV 3.1) motherboard, thank you !
Thank you for this clear guide. This could be a solution for me too. Could you please tell me if this insert fix for the BIOS would also works with a HP Z420
I exactly have the same setup P8Z77-V ATX/i5 3570k thank you so much for this video! I just purchased a cheap used Rx 580 at 30$ USD to stretch my old Pc for a bit longer going from my old GTX670. I really wanted to know if i could get an NVME SSD and also that i could put it in my next Pc. Thanks again from Quebec Canada! :)
I have the same board with an i7 3770k Gtx 770
Thank you very much!!!!!!! i was able to add nvme support to j1900n-d3v with this tutorial, much love
P8H61-M LX R2.0 done!!!
Very easy step to do it
Thank you so much
Nasıl yaptınız
At first I didn't know if this was a foreign language video or not, then I wasn't sure if it was male or female speaking.
Once I regained my composure i flashed a Asus P9X79 LE motherboard and now have Read speed 3500MB/s and Write 3100MB/s on PCIE 3.0, wow, thanks
This worked perfectly, thanks so much!!!
The voice make me play until finish.
thank you.
it did work for me first try on a MSI H61MU-E35(B3), the only thing i had to do was using the M-Flash function directly in BIOS, i had to rename the modded bios to the exact OG bios name, used a usb2 stick on a usb2 port and it worked. actually suprised, was expecting to brick XD thanks!
Cool tutorial bro! I still boot up from my SATA SSD but i store my games in the NVMe drive because it's way faster. The performance of my RX580 and 3770K were being bottleneck by SSD.
mine won't boot ssd nmve and it doesn't show the drive in bios but it does appear in window folders? help
working perfect on my ASUS p8b75-m le THX
You are amazing. How would the process change or is it even possible on Linux (Fedora 38) on Asus P8H77-M Pro?
What happens when it's not detected by system with "no boot device" massage how can I fix that, I'm using Huawei d15 core i3 processor
Hi, it’s the same module for motherboard Asus P8Z68-V PRO ?
Thank’s
Thank you very much for providing this solution and explaining it so well. For those who have doubts, I will tell you that I have made this modification in the bios of a Gigabyte B85M-D3H board successfully. 😀
Greetings from A Coruña/Galiza/Spain
I have a Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-D3HP and are this the steps??
1) Update the bios (via USB in my case)
2) Dowload UEFI Tool + Modul + Latest Bios update
3) Modify the Bios with UEFI Tool + Modul
4) Update the Bios again with the new Bios Modify (via USB in my case)
right????
In my case didin't work
EDIT: ITS WORK!!!
Worked perfectly with ASUS P8B WS Motherboard.
Thanks!! Worked on ASUS Z87-K
Thank you, you help me a lot...😅

Merci !
how to do the same with Gigabyte G1.Sniper A88X mother board pls guide me
I'm using Dell T7600, anyone know how to mod dell bios please, bios ver A17
are this is work with asus cm6630 motherboard? what happen when bios update fail?
I tried something very similar with with a z77 mpower MSI motherboard. The adapter you use for the nvme matters. For some reason some adapters make the m.2 not recognizable at all and others work perfectly.
Excuse me The question, in the file of my MB the region "bios" does not appear, what can I do?
I've found a modded bios for my asus P8Z68-V PRO Gen 3 but the file extension do not came in .CAP format, but in .ROM format. Have no ideia how to flash it. Can someone help?
Very clever......thank you.
This is French, isn't it??
I suspech her English is better than your Frenchthough? Her issue is has a strong French accent when speaking English but you can gauge what she is saying.
She should also be using Linux over Windows but then I guess that is personal choice.
Nice video, liked your simple steps, can you please make a video how to make z420 boot using nvme ssd, I heard that this work station supports only Samsung 950 nvme ssd, (unfortunately its not available now) is there any other nvme ssd option to use for boot purpose?
Sorry I don't have a Z420 so I cannot try this.
THANKS!!!! I LOVE YOU, YOU SAVE MY SSD❤😢🎉
I have the exact same motherboard and CPU, purchased almost 11 years ago now and it still serves me well! The only consideration that should be made is that it has only 16 lanes, and populating the other PCI-e with the NVMe will result in 8x max for a discrete 16x GPU if it is present. This may reduce the performance of the old thing a bit (unless the NVMe upgrade outweighs that - not sure). Still very interesting tutorial, and love the accent. Salutations du nord de la Belgique!
I think the 2.0 slot at the bottom runs off the chipset, you'll get half the speed but keep your 1st 3.0 slot running at x16. Should still be 3x faster than using a sata 3 port.
Some mid-tier gpus are coming with 8 lanes now so it works great in those cases
I think it was LTT or some other consumer tech channel that showed very little loss for GPUs at 8x vs 16x. Like 1% or so. I wouldn't worry about it much.
Thanks for the clue. I have AMI bios on my older servers and now have one booting to an NVMe Optane. My UEFI bios is old, non graphical. Oddly as a boot option I don't see NVMe, I see PATA SS. After OS install it shows "UEFI OS on my NVMe model number" as an option. Boots perfect and fast.
I cant seem to install asus ai suite. Gives me an error saying model not supported. Trying it on asus q87m-e. Can anyone help?
Dear SIR , does my asus vanguard b85 also could deal like this ?
MOD UEFITOOL 0.280 can't extract, error : "the archive is either in unknown format or damaged"
Thanks for sharing ❤
Has anyone tried this method on ASUS P8H77 V LE motherboard, does it work? I'm thinking of ordering an m2
I hope this is also possible for the X58 Asus Ramapage Extreme III
does it work on ga-87 d3hp motherboard?
so, this is only for specific asus boards?
I love the way you speak. ❤😍
thank you, it help a lot.
Thank You!
Asus P8H77-M ezzel is működik (Axagon PCEM2 adapter és Kingston NV2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 - 1TB) úgy ahogy a videóban.
Asus P8H77-M also works with this (Axagon PCEM2 adapter and Kingston NV2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 - 1TB) as in the video.
Which AISuite did you use? I used AISuite II and it is not offering an "update" button.
Thank You so much
not sure what is harder, going through all this or just buying a newer MB which already has the bios with M.2 already flashed on it.. or perhaps buying a bios which has it flashed and replacing the bios chip..
I like your videos ❤
But i have esonic h61 motherboard how to boot this nvme?
Hi. I have same CPU and gigabyte b75m-d3h running windows 7 professional. With 0 nvme slot, but several pci express slots... I have adapter just like yours, I would like to just use 1tb wd blue m.2 nvme as an extra storage - no need to boot. Is this possible or do I have to upgrade it to higher version of windows... Thank you.
I'm not sure but in any case you should upgrade you windows to at least windows 10. Windows 7 is no longer supported by microsoft so they don't supply security correction anymore. I'm pretty sure it's still free to upgrade.
Do you know if NVMe card will work with Windows 7 Pro? Or not?
thank you you saved my life :)
So heavy accent, but it was easy to understand everything you said. Thanks for instructions
Its shows pata is that correct?
Has anyone tried this with asus b85m-g motherboard? please let me know if it worked for you?
it works😍😍😍thank u very much
link for module is dead and so is the bios
Hi will this work on a hp compaq 8300
Damn that voice is so sweet!!!
@Dear brothers,

Gigabyte A520M Motherboard,
AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 4650G processor
Samsung 980 500GB PCIe 3.0 M.2 NVMe SSD
But M.2 SSD is not showing during Windows Installation. Please suggest me how do Solv this problem?
Is it possible for Gigabyte motherboard? 😌 G1 Sniper B5
Thank you very much UA-cam, thank you very much for your video, the explanation is very detailed, and reliable download links are provided for various required programs. My computer knowledge is very limited, but after watching your video, I successfully upgraded
Usb stick must?
It works on legacy bios?
Does it work with gigabyte motherboards?
Do I have to use a boring old motherboard for this to work? I have a fun old motherboard. Will this also work on my fun old motherboard?
I think it will work with a fun one too ;)
Will this work with Rufus?
Thank you
In 775 works?
Can you do this with a laptop?
J'adore l'accent irlandais... Merci pour la vdo... ;-)
(heavy french accent)..."and now lets see if I bricked my motherboard" LOL. Never thought I'd hear that from a French woman after modding her bios to boot from an nvme drive via pcie adapter on a 2012 motherboard. Same one I've got.
Not working on asus maximus vi hero
My motherboard is the P8 Z77-M with i-7 CPU. I wanted to know if the tutorial is also valid in my situation. Thank you
A man comment that works with this motherboard in this video. Check it
Hi i have an old gigabyte ga p55 ud3 motherboard ist possible to do same with it.

In my case not, I found the "AmdCpmPcieInitPeim" but didnt work, I have a A10 AMD

Would this method work on the Asus Maximus V Extreme ?
No
Working to 1500mb/seg in Asus p8p Z77V-LK

LOL
I'm just here to study her french accent english 😅
Saludos
