I'm from India. Seeing this man's show is now on my bucket list if I ever visit America.

He played this when he was touring with Fiona Apple in Nickel Creek in 2005 and my twelve year old self was blown away by that entire concert. This song in particular was a delightful little ear worm that’s never left me even 17 years later.

Thanks for posting these. When I want to demonstrate his talent to people who haven't heard of him, I show them one of your videos. I have one little nitpicky correction, though. This song's called "If You're Gonna Leave Me." Chris himself has said that you don't give away the punchline in the title.

Just saw Thile last night at the Newmark Theater and he did this song but said it was called 'If You're Gonna Leave Me.'

The blurb in the second half of this video is a fairly important introduction to "Daughter of Eve".

This was wonderful, until Chris started freaking out over a flaming sword and ferocious cherubim.
    Then it got awesome.

I wish he would record it and put it on an album too, but I don't think he ever has. He just occasionally plays it live.

Nathanial Ramsey there's a basic outline here. tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/c/chris_thile/set_me_up_with_one_of_your_friends_crd.htm
It's set up to play with a capo at fret 1 though, which isn't the way he does it.

wow. that has got to be the poppiest song i have ever heard from him. kinda takes away a little of my faith in him; part of why i like this guy is b/c he doesnt do anything boring...like this song. this is not a great song for me, it is ominous.
thats not to say it was worse than contemporary pop, in fact, i think this should have a pop music award. but it was an astronomically boring song, in comparison to a lot of the other stuff he does, and a lot of the stuff he is capaple of. i personally do not approve.

It's "poppy" because the lyrics are the focus. It's funny and light hearted; not meant to be the usual depth of character that his other songs exhibit. And anyway, how "poppy" can a song be played exclusively with mandolin accompaniment?

Your trying too hard there PaxMano33... This is a solo show where he is entertaining a live audience. This isn't the title track to his new solo album this is a fun song to pep people up after long flawless instrumental renditions of Bach. You ever go to shows and the band your seeing throws a strange cover song out there to liven people up? Take that and add the fact that Chris Thile is already known as someone who uses humor in his performances (even on his "serious" projects)... and you got?
Hey, if you think this is too poppy you probably dont want to search for Nickel Creek's cover of "Toxic" by Brittany Spears... or do you? Have some fun douche-bag

If you've ever read any of Chris' posts on Twitter, you'd know he's a jokester with a sharp wit and a Pythonesque sense of humor. Not everything he does has to be serious and ponderous.

You've clearly never listened to anything on his "The Deciever" album where he stretches his pop muscles and "gets it out of his system."
