Can we just stop for a moment to appreciate the insane level of cinematography, editing, story-telling, music score, etc... one of, if not the, best sailing channels out there... what a privilege to come along on the journey!
No two people in the sailing channel genre are more deserving of support than these two! Their entire presentation and content is at a whole new level of WOW!
I am a solo Sailor from Oregon, but I sailed for 2 1/2 months every year up in the sunshine coast and desolation sound. I’ve got to say Jedediah Island is probably my favorite island up there. The only thing it’s missing is a warm water lake.the history and the story behind the island is wonderful and I hope you guys tell the story on your next video. I’m so proud of both of you and the exquisite work you’ve done on your boat. They are so much work but always worth it.
If we hadn't suffered with you, we couldn't properly rejoice with you. How lovely to see you practically swallowed up in kitchen space, happily dwelling in the home you've made!
Maja, you need to move forward in the dingy! The stern is set to deep and stop the you acheiving the good speed and comfy sailing you're after. Simple rule , move forward and lift the back of the boat up, increse speed. Going downwind if the wind picks up, slowl ymove back to help the boat plane, and you'll be having a thrill. Greatings from an old dingy sailor:)
So happy to hear your voice reflect an inner tranquillity again, Maya. And Aladino looks as if the weight of the world has been taken from his shoulders. Enjoy the fruit of your effort; you have earned it!
Yes!! The "Magic" is back in Sailing Magic Carpet!!! So happy for both of you, and proud that you stuck it out thru the lows so you can now enjoy the highs! Bravo Zulu! Fair winds and following seas Magic Carpet II...
I could see the ultimate satisfaction in Aladino's face having all the sails up an cruisin along, now it can be said all the blood, sweat & tears over those years of reconstruction were well worth it. Fair winds & calm seas
I have followed you all from the very beginning. Through all the stress and physical work, the highs and yes the too many lows you somehow were able to persevere as a couple. Strength through love ! So good on ya both!
Our hearts are really light to see you out on the water. We had no doubt that Maya's joy would return quickly once sailing again. No doubt. We're looking forward to many adventures ahead! Namaste. 🙏
Obviously congratulations to you both for bringing this project to such an exceptionally well finished ship. But I would like to add something else too: your cinematography is of a level rarely found on UA-cam. This is no longer vlogging, this is making top notch movies. Thank you so much for your efforts. Jan, Belgium
From the moment Magic Carpet II touched the water all your narratives have changed. I'm sô happy for you, so happy to have found your channel 4 or 5 years ago and i'm sooo looking forward to be part of your journey from so far yet so close. Thank you very much Maya and Aladino
You have captured the true essence and joy of coastal cruising. It is real soup for the soul. I am refitting my Sabre 38 at the moment and hopeful to be on the water this summer. Everything you shared in this episode are all the key motivating factors for me to press on. Thank you. You deserve the joy and tranquility of your hard work and perseverance.
Missing the big fellow a great man and a real good father. Mum is great a little shy in front of the camera. What you to have done is brilliant. I have followed you all the way, what a great journey. God bless you both>
Wow!! What a beauty! How awesome to wake up with whales swimming by. I am a plein air painter in Monterey, and I often see whales blowing right next to me when I am painting at Point Lobos.
you might call it lovey dovey but thats what you do. things to make you other half happy. I would bet the it will turn into a treasured memory for you guys. I wish nothing but the best for you 2. I as so happy for you and love watching the 2 of you.
Its great to see you living your life again. I've watched for near five years, and its been a truly enjoyable adventure for all of us. Thank you so much for sharing this. 😊
Breakfast with Whales....... Welcome back to the World of Magic..... Though tears and stress you have arrived in Paradise..... Champagne cork well and truly Popped...... Love to you both..... :-)) xxxx
Through all the years of sailing and renovations or reconstruction, I never lost hope or gave up that you would one day feel the magic again and it's so rewarding to see you in your happy place. Your video's are so beautiful to watch as are the two of you; and now we can rest in the beauty every week till the work must start again. Thank you for sharing your life and your love. 😀
You two must be very pleased after all the time and energy spent on the rebuild to be floating and enjoying your life again. Congratulations on a mamouth effort to being her back better than new again. Well done to you both. May you have fair winds and calm seas on your journey going forward. From Australia.
It always felt to me that things have a spirit in them. Be it a boat, or Evan a classic car. Your boat has a soul, and it is smiling as much as your own.
There is no doubt about it, a lot of people have to work for everything they have and you 2 definately fit that. Its so nice to see you enjoying your fruits of labour. Have a very Merry Christmas to you and all who follow this amazing trip. Cheers Ian New Zealand
I’m a sporadic watcher if I’m honest and the boat work took its toll on me too (as it did 100 fold on you pair)… I am however delighted to see the end result and the unabashed joy in your voice. It gives me hope for the trials we all go through in boat ownership. 😁👍🏻
A life of travel to a life of seemingly endless work to a life of fun, play, travel while working on your dream life story. You are both truly blessed in so many ways, and we are all blessed that you continue to share your incredible story with us. Thank you always
We live on a 55 Tayana with a 130 lb. Bernese Mountain Dog. He was raised on a boat and knows nothing about landline. I heard your parents have a BMD and that just warms my heart. There is just something magical about Berners.
Glad you're making sailing videos again, which are more arty than the building videos. You guys are back; or better, the lady has a home again. Lovely!
Since the last few months of you being in the US, I have been concerned that the refit had taken too much of a toll on you Maya and that you would end up loathing Magic Carpet II. I am SO pleased that has been dispelled and the beauty of being back on the water has re-ignited that flame. Yes - it has all been worth it ❤
"The Artist and the Engineer" The artist and the engineer, Poured them-selves into a boat. It morphed into a nightish mare, A load they had to tote… Through winters long, and summer hot The toil seemed never ending If they make it to the end, Their souls will need some mending. Years go by and sadness reigns, As work goes on, to such small gains. Is that light I see in the tunnel, “Dear, could you pass me the yellow funnel”? Yet finally, and after all The work was done and the mast stood tall. She cuts a line straight through the seas now they're happy as you please. ( these things just pop out on occasion . .. congrats.. have been with you since SMC#1 )
I grew up in Alberta and have now been all over North America, but the years is spent living off the Straits of Georgia are my best. I have been following you for years and have loved it. This video brought me to tears, took my breath away, and made me homesick in a way I had forgotten possible! I am so proud of you two!!!! These are the days that make it all worth it!
For the bread, use a Dutch oven casserole inside of the oven. Preheat for 15 minutes the Dutch oven in the oven, then put your bread dough and make cuts on the top of the dough before replacing the cover on the Dutch oven and it in the oven. Cook 2x15 minutes, rotating the dutch oven 180 deg after the first 15 minutes and then each time. After the first 30 minutes, remove the cover and leave cooking for 2x10 minutes, each time rotating 180 degs to get a uniform cooking. Et voilà! On Fabule I need to put the gaz oven to its maximum for the whole cooking of the bread. Don’t forget to preheat the Dutch oven as if you put the dough in the cold casserole the dough will stick to it.. Give us a picture if you do it. Fabule’s crew.
When I had a propane oven onboard I used to put one oven tray directly over the flames. This spread out the heat, then I would put the tray with the goods on in the middle. It was never burned again 👌
This is one of the most beautiful videos. And I am very happy to see that you are sailing with the fore sails without a furler, classically, like the whole beautiful ship. Congratulations on achieving your great goal.
Life looks great for both of you. I can tell by the tone of your voice Aladino that you sound way more relaxed and happy. Good luck and adventures to you both. Cheers from Australia.
I have been watching your channel since you were sailing the canals in Europe, then purchasing Magic Carpet II and watching you work on it from the beginning to now, when you are finally putting some miles under her hull. Sublime is the best way I can describe it. Absolutely sublime. Now, having said that going back for a second watch. . . Sighhh . . .
So tickled for y'all. It's so good to see y'all sailing and especially relaxing after the years of grinding work y'all went through. We can feel your new mood and the glee in your voice is unmistakable as you edit the voyage. God bless you both,
Don't know about anyone else, but seeing those sails capturing the wind, after all the work you both put into that sailboat, brought a few tears to my eyes. Congratulations to the both of you...
Congratulations. Parabéns. Gefeliciteerd. Also thank you, you didn't need to share the process but you did, and speaking from here, it made a world of difference. Onwards and upwards.
Your videos of when you’re on the water or sailing seem so much more relaxing than many other channels , you’ve earned it , and may it long continue 😃🥂
Well, she may have taken yawl to some lows, but please remember, that was some of yawls best productions. Please don’t think that you trudged through all of that just to get to these high points. Them hard days a lot of really enjoyed. Not so much the watching you be demoralized from you not really enjoying the boat refit, but watching Dinni thrive in it. He loved every moment of the refit. Problem solving, perfection, and oh yes, the glorious sanding and painting. Glad we’re onto these days. Glad to see yawl both in a happy place. 🎉
You two worked so hard, for so long. You deserve the joy that the fruits of your labour are bringing you both. Looking forward to seeing what you've been up to. Best Wishes from a friend on the Thames.
So pleased for you to be re-adjusting after your tough and long boat build, brought a big smile to my face and not so dry eyes. Such a moment to have full sails and be sailing safely in such beautiful waters. There are always challenges, and it is great to work through them together.
The Magic has returned!!.Congratulations to you both for successfully climbing the mighty peak and reaching your Promised Land! Maya, I can already hear you on your violin playing a lovely melody composed in the for too long silenced depths of your heart and now at long last free as a bird in Spring rejoicing in.the exuberance of new life! 😂 ❤ I am so happy for you both!
I collected a dear skull on Lasqueti island a long time ago. The last sailing trip I was ever on. I grew up on the water sailing as you do in this vid. Thank you for this and all the years you have been capturing your journies

Gosh.you are so right. This video really got to me!
I totally agree! You’ve come such a long way since the canals in Europe during Covid - and I was impressed then! 💕💕💕
No two people in the sailing channel genre are more deserving of support than these two! Their entire presentation and content is at a whole new level of WOW!

Moved to tears of joy - “The fairy dust is back” That simple phrase means so very much and, having watched every week for years, I’m thrilled for you.
I can't help but smile hugely as I watch this. So glad to see you out sailing with re found happiness!
So happy to hear your voice reflect an inner tranquillity again, Maya. And Aladino looks as if the weight of the world has been taken from his shoulders. Enjoy the fruit of your effort; you have earned it!
Wonderful to hear music in your voices again.
That made me tear up. Well said!
How very, very nice to see and hear you've found your center again. Heartfelt Congratulations folks!
Yes!! The "Magic" is back in Sailing Magic Carpet!!! So happy for both of you, and proud that you stuck it out thru the lows so you can now enjoy the highs! Bravo Zulu! Fair winds and following seas Magic Carpet II...

Maja, wrap a tin foil around the rack below your backing sheet. This distributes the heat in the oven and prevent the bread to be burned! Try it😋
We’ve found that a pizza stone on the floor of the oven really helps evening out the temp. As big as will fit.
We simply put an empty baking tray in the lowest position and the tray with the bread in the middle position. Works great.
Whow, What a Nice movie.
The Music, the voice…………..ultimate slow tv with two Nice people.
THANKS
So glad to hear fairy dustbins replacing epoxy dust. You so deserve it.
I have followed you all from the very beginning. Through all the stress and physical work, the highs and yes the too many lows you somehow were able to persevere as a couple. Strength through love ! So good on ya both!
what a pleasure to see her finally sail

Why does it make me so ridiculously happy to see Maya working so comfortably in that beautiful galley!

Magic Carpet II sails beautifully. It's great to see you reap the rewards of all your hard work.
She looks beautiful with full sails. Magic Carpet is definitely the right name. You both look so proud and joyful. Thanks for the beautiful video.
Love that beautiful warm lighting and classic-looking lanterns in the boat!
I love your poetic narration, Maya. The boat looks so beautiful fully dressed.
This episode made my heart sing. Home baked bread, whales, Maya in the dinghy enjoying the simple act of rowing a boat. Splendid.
Glad to see you both happy and enjoying your beautiful Magic Carpet 2
That was it, that was the moment when the Magic re-appeared. Both of you talk, walk, and smile differently since an episode or two. 🙂
Wow!! What a beauty! How awesome to wake up with whales swimming by. I am a plein air painter in Monterey, and I often see whales blowing right next to me when I am painting at Point Lobos.

So pleased you have once again found your joy.! It is very much like the tides, ebbing and flowing. At my age I can attest to that truth.
"The Artist and the Engineer"
The artist and the engineer,
Poured them-selves into a boat.
It morphed into a nightish mare,
A load they had to tote…

Their souls will need some mending.

now they're happy as you please.

Nicely controlled jibe.
So nice to have you back and to be so courageous to endure it all for our pleasure xxxx
I admire your passion and tenacity to see this project through.
After all these years, I can't believe Aladino is a late sleeper. Who knew?;)

Yup! This is why you went thru all the ups and downs. Life is good. Time to enjoy. Thanks
I collected a dear skull on Lasqueti island a long time ago. The last sailing trip I was ever on. I grew up on the water sailing as you do in this vid. Thank you for this and all the years you have been capturing your journies
A resin spreader becomes a dough cutter .. brilliant, simple. I love that you have no electric windlass, no foresail furler, and no outboard for the dinghy 🙂⛵️🙂
Thanks for the beautiful video. It's great to see all the sails up and the wind kicking up, FINALLY! Really beautiful location.
Hearing the music back in your tones, made all the difference in your element. We are so joyfilled that you two are finding your footing and really back to the seas. ❤
Across the oceans, around the world. New countries, new people, different cultures. I will follow you, thanks for letting me in (and out...)
Just fantastic for you both. I’m sitting here in Michigan gazing over the frozen lake and what a pleasant morning to see this episode with all sails flying. Yay!
Love seeing her under sail. Enjoy the ride!
