Honestly your SO LUCKY that your locktician REALLY KNOWS ABOUT (locks/rastas), your hair is SOOO CLEAN LOOK. AND nice overall. I had to relocate from the West Coast to East Coast and haven't been able to find a good locktician, so all the maintenance I had to do it myself the last 2yrs. Keep up the good work. Ps. Really they look amazing!
Was looking through comments and came across yours. Depending on where on the East Coast you’re located, I use DreadLock Central. They have various locations and even travel to where you reside.
I’ll be 4 months locd in two weeks and it’s been a beautiful journey and I can see tour enjoying yours as well. Your locs are maturing. So quickly and nicely.
Your dreads look beautiful!! I’ve had my whole head in dreads twice and I’m about to do it my last and final time but only half/ back of my head. I love the freedom and creativeness that I feel with dreads but I just wanted some hair on top!! Love the updates I just subscribed 💕💕 Best wishes on your journey
Great video. I’m doing a ton of research on locs right now and came across your videos. I love to see the progress this was awesome. Please do a few more up to your 1 year mark! 😊
Welcome to the amazing world of locks it's a blessed journey .. there coming along nicely. It's nice to see people smiling 😊 and enjoying there journey... I'm 3yeats and some change In
I would LOVE to see another update, my dreads are 4 months in and I swear our hair type is the same, so hard to suck in the outer hair it just won’t come in by itself.
I don't know if it's because I have a bit of an ocd problem but I'm not even a month in mine are pretty tight. I palm roll slot and manipulate any loops but thank you for showing us this
I am going to do my dreadlocks again. Straight hair here. Back in the early 2000s I used all Knotty Boy stuff and I will do the same this time. Water is the best friend of dreadlocks.
Just a little tip when you crochet your hair all the time its not really maturing it, it just makes your dreads tighter but dreads need to be loose in order to knot so leave the crocheting alone for awhile and towl rub your dreads every time you wash them in a circular clockwise motion then do the same in anti clockwise this creates knots in your dreads and will mature them faster, you dont really need to do this after you wash but i find it works better when your hairs wet at least for me that is.
Hi Sarah! Wow!! Your locks are coming along beautifully!!! I hear ya on preferring longer locks on top and front. I've just started my 7th year with locks and I still have baby locks forming regularly, that go through stages of getting in the way. My hair wasn't long, and was layered when I transitioned to locks. So, I have all sorts of varied lengths, thickness and age of my locks. It's been totally worth it. Glad you're enjoying your own, as well. Due to my Native American and Jude-Christian heritage and faith, my locks have significant spiritual value to me. As time passes, I value them more and more. 💖😊
On the 23rd I hit my 3 month mark. Being only 3 months in I think it's funny when people ask. Do you still have your dreads?... haha like yes I'll have them for along time to come. I've put 400 dollars into them I cant give up now. LoL but next time I get a dread maintenance I'm gonna try to not wash them for 2 or 3 weeks. Up to this point the longest I've gone was 2 weeks. I believe the washing and drying of the locks help them mature faster. They get super frizzy after but, that's the progress right?! I'm glad to see a update. The look great and they're thick. Next 3 to 6 months I hope mine get thicker.
Thanks! After 3 months is where I really saw they thickened up. I can't use a regular pony tail anymore. ha! I also get the question about "still having them." Like, where would they go? I love them. Cheers to you!
dreads take alot of work, which you have to do yourself as well at times, each night let your hair down and separate every single dread and palm roll for starters! maybe look for a dreadlock specialist in your area and get some extensions added and invest in a small crochet hook yourself to keep tidy! by adding abit of length to your dreadlocks you might find it easier to look after them aswell, but thats the key! every day or every week do a bit of upkeep!!!! especially when they are new!
Those came out freaked awsome it’s my dream to have locs like yours I have straight hair and want to get them done like yours. Where do u stay at and how would I find someone who does dreads?? And what kind of soap do you use? It has to be a certain kind right?
I saw your dreads on UA-cam cuz I love watching videos about peoples dreads. I can see that you got your dreads professionally done and I saw how how your dreads looked for your first maintenance appointment. They were VERY loose and frizzy. I just wanna help and give a helping opinion that spending money on getting dreads isn't really worth it I mean yeah you get them but they come undone after a while. There are ways you could maintain them yourself and its really easy. I've had my dreads for almost 7 months now and they never came undone but the tips sort of did but it was an easy fix. Im not judging the way your dreads are or how you like them i just wanted to give and opinion. Have a nice day.
Yes. They get longer! I just posted a one-year update video showing how short they got. Shrinkage is real. haha. After three years, they are long and beautiful. How are yours? ua-cam.com/video/vxgchwVcKag/v-deo.html
Yes. I did think about that for a long time. I haven't though and have just let them grow. I have a three-year update coming soon but until then, check out the one year (ish) update I just posted. ua-cam.com/video/vxgchwVcKag/v-deo.html
Some spots are still really shoot. Like the top of my head. The back isn't that bad. Not much growth since my six month update. I need to post my year update soon.
I'm sorry I'm not trying to hate or throw shade, but that hair stylist really doesn't understand how to properly crochet locs because your hair right now (not in this video but your most recent one) is how it should have looked 3 years ago when you first went in. My dreadlocks were fully matured not even two weeks after I got them crocheted
Oh wow, you're lucky. Mine took a year to shrink and tighten up to fully mature. I love looking back at these baby dreads. They were so cute, ugly, but cute.
They look good, but I’ve never been a fan of maintenance at all. You went from nothing to instant dreads. No journey here at all. Pretty much just videos of hair getting longer instead of forming over a few years.

Have you ever thought of installing extensions honey?
Yes. I thought about it but haven't. I talk about it in my most recent video. ua-cam.com/video/vxgchwVcKag/v-deo.html

You might be right but that's how I wanted to live my dread journey. I love the way they look. Thank you!
