  • ☆ Dreadlock Journey ☆
    Welcome to my first Dread Journey video talking about why I love interlocking after going strong with my interlock dreads for 7 years, complete natural dreadlocks!
    Some deadheads online disagree with interlocking dreads as a way to maintain dread roots, but it works wonders for my Caucasian dreadlocks and enables me to enjoy long dreads hairstyles for my thin dreadlocks.
    If you are curious about dread maintenance or how to grow dreads, especially Caucasian dreads, watch this video till the end to hear my experience with crochet dreadlocks and wearing long dread styles. I chat about how to start dreads, how to retwist dreads and long dreads hairstyles. I’ve worked with curly and straight hair dreads, and I believe interlocking hair works for many hair types!
    I am in love with my super long dreads and they are a staple in my sustainable beauty lifestyle, so I hope you enjoy this dreadlock update! orrrr lazy dreads timeline… whatever.
    Thank you for watching!

      Did you interlock your hair at the start or did you do create a lock via rip n tear and crochet hooking before you interlocked? Or did you go straight into interlocking from the get go??

      Do you recommend starting and maintaining dreadlocks with interlocking, when you have a mixture of wavy/straight thick hair that already likes to matt up and dread on it's own? I'm trying to find the best way to dreadlock my hair before I actually do it. Everyone says interlocking caucasian hair will cause weakness and break off; But what if you have thick hair? Should I back comb it a little first to give it more texture before i interlock it? What do you think is the best way to dreadlock my hair? Thank you so much for your time.

      @@kathytakiwa2095 hi thanks for your comment! I started my dreads with back combing and palm rolling. I added extensions on immediately to add some weight. And then as they grew out that’s when I started to interlock the roots. But don’t do it too often or it can cause damage. Please check out my most recent video for tips on interlocking, and be sure to subscribe as I will be posting new videos every week. Enjoy!

    Thank you for sharing your story because I can relate! I've had locs 4 times throughout my life. I am now 48 years old and have had continuous lucid dreams for over a year about locs. I came across an elder artist woman with dreads and I made my decision to finally fulfill my dreams of dreads. My current dreads were started at shoulder length, about 4 months ago by a professional, crochet style and hurt like hell, but totally worth it because I've finally come to the look that's been calling to me in my dreams. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, my hair and myself! I knew my hair would shrink up to nubs, so I made my own extensions and sewed them in but have every intention of cutting out the fakies once my hair reaches a certain length. I've dedicated a lot of time and love to hair because this is what I'm going to the grave with...a crazy cat lady, famous artist! Fuck em in the neck with a bag of dicks! Anyways, I've been interlocking, probably a bit to much. I currently have 73 dreads and I'd very much like to start putting creative touches to my babies, like volume, beads and possibly human hair braids? I've been doing research on UA-cam on how to add SE, DE dread extensions and adding fusion human hair to my dreads to braid to add a permanent "Viking" flair to my head. Can't find squat on the proper way to add that to my locs without destroying them. I have a general idea of DIY, but do you have any ideas or suggestions? I LOVE your hair BTW and I could only hope my hair looks as near fabulous as yours! However, I'm trying to "embrace the grey" and stopped dying my hair the day I dreaded

      Oh my God your story sounds exactly like me! I got dreads again a month and a half ago at age 55 and am also trying to embrace the Gray. Not doing too well with that! lol, but I'm terrified to try to dye it! I'm afraid it'll break. I also want to permanently add some flair to mine, but can't find a way to do it!

    • @hausofwen
      @hausofwen  2 роки тому

      Hi there! I love your story thanks for sharing! I also plan to embrace the gray when that starts to happen. I just did a video on some tips for interlocking so be sure to check that out. You don’t want to interlock too often as it can weaken your dreads. I recommend once to twice a year or every 8 to 10 months. You want to let your roots lock up on their own first before you interlock, but definitely check out that video for more tips, and I will be posting more videos on this topic as well. I am not sure exactly what you were asking in regards to adding decorations to your dreads. Could you be more specific? I also just wrote an e-book on dreadlocks for beginners with all my knowledge, you can check it out if you like. And I will also be writing another book that covers decorations, dread wraps, beads and all that fun stuff but it won’t be out for a while. I will try to do some videos on these topics before the book comes out. I hope your Dread journey is still going well. ☺️

    I love your dreads and your nose piercings!
    I just started my dread journey in January! I always wanted them when I was growing up. Whenever I spotted someone out in public with dreads, they just radiated a sense of freedom/peace/totally themselves/good vibes. I just wanted to feel that too! I wanted to stop worrying about having perfectly put together hair. Let it do its thing. Fast forward, I'm 24 and I'm finally doing it. I have almost shoulder length hair, and an undercut all the way around so I was all nervous they would look too thin. We managed to get in 42 (looking forward to growing out my undercut to have more!) and installed extensions. They are helping me find myself

    Love your locs! they are beautiful . I was always against interlocking Caucasian hair, but it works for micro/skinny locks and is definitely a different style of locs and different commitment. Has to be done correctly though, like you say, too. Please don't bleach your locs any more, it just kills hair. Have you tried rose water for conditioning and repair? Restores natural pH and smells amazing too, leaves locs really soft.
