thank you!! I just put a few in my hair and they seem loose. I kept searching for a simple video to show me how to do this without messing them up. everyone had all these fancy ways of doing it. this is very simple and straightforward so thank you!
I've had dreads for ... uh. 5 weeks now, my hair isn't terribly long but I've been trying to work out how the hell I can crochet the back. Thanks for the help ^_^
@Dreadganic than you ever so much for teaching me how to do this Crochet method as unfortunately none of the Ethnic Salons knew how as I hate the other lacht hook. I'll stick to your method straightforward :-) Peace
1 month old! baby locks indeed! honestly dont over maintain them in the early days, let them express themselves a little! But you do whats right for your lifestyle and look you want!
Thanks for the video. I have super curly hair and it dreaded itself basically. The only maintenance I did was pulling them apart when they started to form together. And washing them. That being said I have a lot of loose hair that needs to be cleaned up. I have to get a set of hooks because my dreads are not uniform in the slightest which is the way I like it. What I should do is go to a professional for maintenance.
Have you always maintained your own hair? Man yours look real good. I’m scared crocheting near the roots just Incase I pull loose hair from another section in. What size crochet hook do you use?
***** I was wondering on your crochet hook. I've got two kinds here at home. Haven't used them yet. I've got the opened kind of hook and the other is latch kind. Where it open and closes as it goes through something. Which kind did you use? Trying to figure out which is best to use on dreadlocks. Thanks. Love you video. Very helpful. I didn't know that's how you do that at the roots. I've been wondering about that for a while now too. Super helpful. Thanks again. :) digging the dreads too.
How many dreadlocks do you have in this video? Im planning to have my hair dreaded this year and I want it to be just like yours. I'll appreciate your response.
Alexa Wilson thank you, great observation on my appearance, good reflection of the message I put out to the world. "Dreadlocks make you beautiful" ha. Seriously though thanks
Lmao well it had to be said, the dreads and the accent help. seriously though your dreads are so uniform and dense, serious kudos. Mine are still very loose but I only got them yesterday. Hoping to have a beautiful matted mane in the not so far off future!

So would you say this is a safe way to crochet it? based on your experience do u get hair thinning like what other people say about crocheting dreads. I'm planning to get dreadlocks but I want to maintain it here and there just to not make it look too messy.
EffinRad I've never had a problem, but it really depends on your hair type and how fast your hair grows.. Crotching your dreads too much will cause thinning, you just need to not over do it!
I usually just go by feel, once youve done the top and sides and can see and feel how they look doing the back isnt too hard, remember dreads dont need to be perfect.. They sort themselves out over time!
So you can either leave the new growth and it will naturally dread, the new natural dread will grow differently to crochet dreads, they will be softer and have waves in them if you let the do it themselves or you can crochet the new growth every couple of months. Really depends of what look you want, If you leave it then the dreads look a little bit more messy but natural or you crochet them and they look super neat and tidy but they can hurt for a few days after doing this each time as the new dread pulls on the scalp.. hope this helps
You have beautiful locks! But the way you're crocheting them terrifies me haha. It seems to be working for you, but I'd be too worried about breaking hairs to crochet them that aggressively.
First video that actually helped me understand maintenance better. I finally managed to do it all by myself. So grateful. Thank you so much!!!

Would a homemade crochet hook work? mine is a pencil.
Crochet hooks are designed in a specific way a pencil wouldn't work
So would you say this is a safe way to crochet it? based on your experience do u get hair thinning like what other people say about crocheting dreads. I'm planning to get dreadlocks but I want to maintain it here and there just to not make it look too messy.

okay thanks!!
Yeah, it's right.
That's how I do it all the time.
By the way, your dreadlocks are amazing.❤️
subscribe! ☺️
I'm not sure if you'll see this but what hook size do you use?
I usually 0.5 - 0.75
Does that pulling in and out cause breakage? I have very young dreads, so I'm looking for the safest thing! Lol
*clarification* they are a partial head, I am testing to see if I can fully commit to them and if so, I'll be doing a full head! 😁
great vid bro
how long does it take for all the work?
I've heard that crocheting dreads can cause baldness. And tension alopecia but you're not having thin scalp so I should be ok
what size crochet hook did u use
hey! how can u dread your hair in neck side. mirror or something
I usually just go by feel, once youve done the top and sides and can see and feel how they look doing the back isnt too hard, remember dreads dont need to be perfect.. They sort themselves out over time!
TaroooOOOOoooooooOOOOOOOO!! Do not spray into eyes, I have sprayed you into my eyes!
Could you tell me please the number of the crochet? I think that it's the mm. Thaaaanks!
Laia Sabaté im using a 0.6mm hook!
Laia Sabaté 0.5 is great though for maintaining locks 0.6 for the creation of them
you was very fast! i was using a 1 mm but it's a lot. Thanks :)
Thank god for this video
How many Locs do you have in total
it really helped thanks
Please respond what do I do when I have dreads and my hair keeps growing so I have straight hair for half an inch then it starts my dreads
So you can either leave the new growth and it will naturally dread, the new natural dread will grow differently to crochet dreads, they will be softer and have waves in them if you let the do it themselves or you can crochet the new growth every couple of months. You have beautiful locks! But the way you're crocheting them terrifies me haha. It seems to be working for you, but I'd be too worried about breaking hairs to crochet them that aggressively.
scrumhalf9rugby looks aggressive but I do it with a very light hand just fast 😜
FUTURE BAE!!
So basically what makes it tight is the twisting as you use the crotchet hook
?
what size hook?
0.5 mm i think
use what works best for you, but usually it is smaller than 1mm, like 0.75mm or 0.5mm
How can bye riban
Would be a better video if you used a hair band to keep your dreads out of the damn way. Lol
Nice dreads though.
i just made a video on how to repair dreadlocks and it would be super cool if u could take a look !!
my dreads are short makes it even harder in the back 😳
