- My Fluval Flex 15 gallon aquarium has not been looking too good recently so today, I decided to give the fish tank a little make over. This fish tank is an anubias only planted aquarium. My fluval flex has been growing a ton of cyanobacteria (blue green algae) so I have to find a way to try and eliminate that. I will be using erythromycin in the future as I've heard that this can kill cyanobacteria. Let me know in the comments section if you like the look of the tank before or after!

Hey guys, this algae that’s in my tank is called blue green algae or Cyanobacteria. It’s actually not an algae lol. I’ll soon be using some erythromycin to try to kill off this bacteria. Have you guys ever encountered blue green algae before and how did you eliminate it??
Usually cyanobacteria likes "dead spots", if your fish in that tank can handle it might try upping the flow a bit.

I just Cleaned out the entire tank and User someone special solutions and kinda rubbed it into the algae and glass. After that i rinced the Tank and re-introduced everything.
I havent encountered that algae before, wait a minute I just forgot, I dont have a tank 😅😂

Just changed my flex to different lights no filter baffle and divider to hold two Betta ,,,great content
The sand really makes the tank look better . All the plants pop with good color and also to fish .

I’m not sure if it’s from ikea because I found it at rubbish area at my apartment. Someone threw it away. It’s supposed to have wheels on the bottom but mine doesn’t have any

I prefer the sand look since the Fluval Flexes are so dark. It looks great, though.

@@RyoWatanabee Did you feel that the black fluval flex was too dark? Or does it show off the fish and plants better? What do you think of the white ones? I like the frosted white sticker paper on the aquariums and I'm not sure if I would like black in the Fluval.
@@LeilaSoleil I’ve never seen the white flexes in person so I can’t say for sure but I think I’d prefer the black tank over the white. Algae will be less visible and the colors of fish and plants will stand out more.

Hi Ryo ,your water pump in Fluval Flex 57 goes silent or is it noisy? do you use the original what was in the package or something else? ..thank you ..
Yes, I used the original fluval pump. Worked perfectly fine and no sound

I had a similar problem with the Blue Green "Algae" in one of my outdoor tanks(Although more like a pond-tank hybrid).I live in a tropical country(Somewhere in Southeast Asia hehe) so I keep my two biggest tanks outside.The one that keeps getting exposed to sunlight keeps growing Blue Green "Algae" so what I did was relocate the other fish that was in that particular tank to my other tanks and made this tank a species tank for Garra rufa with a fast-flowing river theme.Blue Green "Algae" will always keep growing in that tank so basically I am countering that fact by adding fish that eat a lot of algae,cyanobacteria,and aufwuchs haha.
Awesome stuff! Thanks for sharing that :) I’m not sure if there are any types of fish that eat Cyanobacteria though. From what I’ve read and heard, Cyanobacteria is toxic to fish.
@@RyoWatanabee Then maybe what was in my tanks aren't Cyanobacteria but just the ordinary kind that grows a lot inside a lot of aquariums because what grows in my tank is eaten by the Garra rufa with a certain relish.I am not that versed with a lot of bacteria species though,but maybe it will be further discussed in some of my classes because I am a Biology student.
Yeah maybe. Cyanobacteria forms in sheets and they give off a very unpleasant smell :) luckily you don’t have it because it’s a pain to remove as no fish will eat it
Cool video! Planning on getting a Flex 15, but I need to know if it is quiet enough to set up in a bedroom. How's the pump noise? Fluval claims it's silent, but I've learnt not to trust product boxes.
For me, it was very quiet. I kept the tank in my bedroom for more than a year but across from where I sleep. I’ve had no issues with sound :)

Hi Francois, I don’t have my altums anymore. I sold them together with the aquarium that they were in to make space for the 150 gallon

How do you clean the bottom of the tank without mixing the two substrates together? Just wondering
I have a mini siphon and I don’t stick it below the sand. I carefully siphon out the water trying my best not to suck the sand

How many hours do you have your lights on for? Is there any direct sunlight and do you inject co2 in your tank?
Ryo Watanabe usually up to 6 hours daily and yes there is a window it gets bit of light from the window no co2 😬
How many fish do you have in here? And what species?
Just 2 types of fish in this tank. Cherry barb and black phantom tetras

Crystal Meth cool! Make sure you have a strong cover, and keep your water clean. The smaller your tank, the more water changes you should do.

Do you mean the fluval flex light? It’s adjustable with a remote control. I try not to keep it so bright as Anubias don’t require such high lighting
