I grew a colony of blue dream shrimps in a this type of tank. It's the only tank that I just left to do its own thing. There's no maintenance needed, no algae, no water chemistry issues. I started with 4 shrimps, and now I have over 40 of them in there. It's a perfect format for a shrimp tank.
there's a lot of aquascaping information out there that's super intimidating and scary but MD fish tanks is the only aquascaping channel that actually makes me want to have an aquascape of my own one day without worries
aquarium are very tricky in comparation to dogs or cats... important is the health of the animal and the right conditions (soft water for tetras, etc...)
Hi! I’m an Employee at Aquadistri, just wanted to say thank you for putting all of the Scaper aquariums to the best use possible. Also check out Hikari, might be a new one for you but it’s the best fish food on the market right now ❤
If you want a great hack for feeding small nano fish, fish babies and shrimps - you can get a IKEA CITRONHAJ pepper mill with glass jar and lid. Put normal fish food in, a mixture if you want, and just mill it down into the aquarium as needed to get tiny food size and easy portion size management. 😄
I've been getting so annoyed with my pestle and mortar, and could never find a pepper mill when I went shopping - but I'm going to be near an IKEA today, thank you so much for this tip!
I’ve never seen anything like this, came across this video by accident… My mind is completely blown. It started off so simple w the small box and became the most beautiful aquascape…I now know what I want to do with the rest of my life. Thank you.
I like that you film the decision making process which sometimes means going back to the drawing board. This small tank turned out beautiful and the dragon stone was the right choice!!
14:58 This is the moment I saw your vision after taking out the barren driftwood and replaced it with the dragon stone ❤️🔥 Its color picked up on the foreground rocks so perfectly. 👍
Rams horns are pretty underrated in my opinion. They’ve been invaluable in the establishment of new tanks for me, and they helped keep my first pea puffer alive during the first month I had him when he refused to eat frozen food at first.
I have a small scape tank with cherry shrimps and guppies too with only airstone plump , no filter but it works well . The water is crystal clear and I've noticed lots of new born baby shrimps this week ! ❤
I always laugh at some point when watching MD but the energy in this video was so fun, thank you for brightening my day MD! This.. is.. well this is a can of 7up 🤣 50LiterMeter will be my new password for all things 😂 And this tank was just GORGEOUS when you got done with it. Love.
First I thought meh those different types of stones look odd. Oh my god, the result! I love this one so so much! It looks like a landscape from another planet, because of this combination, I think. It's incredible beautiful! I learn so much from you at the moment, love your channel!
Maybe part of the secret of your magical plantgrowth is the abundance of stone in most of your set up. I really like your video. Let me be brave and return to fish keeping after 10 years of stop to the hobby due to planaria pest. Now 8 month with success. I love it, and your video
This is my favorite video so far! I started following you a few years ago because of the shrimp tanks.. you nailed it by explaining the rocks, plants, filter & subtrate for a tiny tank. Wish we had access to the plants and super fish tanks here in the United States. I can’t find any high quality fish plants.. I end up with my fish dying and duckweed in my tank.. shrimps dying within 45 minutes after acclimating them.. even after testing says the water is perfect..so frustrating 😓
If you can’t buy plants go to your local pond & harvest some from there I always get plants from ponds & little rivers I do not even clean them I put them straight into my tanks with the bacteria on.. if there is life fish snails & things living in that pond then nothing to worry about, if the pond is dead has no life stay clear from it because obviously it’s contaminated water
I have a 6-gallon cube clear tank perfect for shrimp. I want to do the blue velvet shrimp with a beautiful landscape as you do. Thank you for sharing this tutorial. xo
Id love to hear more about what the long term care for this kind of tank would be like Thanks for sharing! Im definitely inspired to build something like this for myself
Must be nice to be rich... lol you are blessed to be able to walk in the next room and get what you need, I love your passion bro! You are a great artist! ❤
I'm an American living in the UK and got a superfish 80 tank free from someone's garden and absolutely love it I took off all the plastic and have the most amazing rimless 20 gallon.
Amazing shrimp scape! I created my own similar version of this, but from my different pieces, I have a sponge filter and a bubbler instead of a full filter. But got the dragon stone and pebbles, I do have some wood to one side as my tank is shorter but wider. Got marimo moss balls in with mine and Java moss and ferns. They adore the dragon stone, and love hiding in all the little caves. Started with around 10 shrimp, now probably have 200 😂 need to sell a few! Oh I do also have salvinia floating, they love hanging in the roots - that stuff grows like a weed!
I would just love a list of aquatic plants that you like. Like the Shrimp Tank, what are all of those red floating plants? We are just getting started on something like this (not near as impressive though XD )
Loved the video but I really wish super fish would come to the US I really wannna buy some of the kits! I wish I could buy it online but I couldn’t find any stores that show how much in USD, but again loved the video keep it up!!
That's so funny! I actually just yesterday finished setting up a little 14L tank with curved front glass for my shrimp and bumblebee gobies, and I even scaped it with dragonstone as well because it was the first time I had that! 😄 This one looks really nice too, I really like these kinds of kits, although I have to admit I'm not a fan of lid-less tanks, but that's more personal preference. 😉
Great kit i setup and iwagumi style shrimp tank and bred tonnes of orange shrimp which have now been donated to a bigger aquarium then am tearing down the build and trying to create a simple Betta cube next
This looks amazing. It’s great to see that you also change your mind about the scape, the second attempt was sooooo much better, it was also good that you showed issues that you had with the wood and MC plant. Did you treat the MC that you took out, or binned it? I am so tempted to do this, but I would be heartbroken if the shrimp died.
I greatly appreciate how family friendly this video is. No cursing, no OMG’s, no slang….Thank you for making a safe, informative video that I can watch with my kids! Blessings from a homeschool family in CA!

What is the name of the sticker background? I usually use the vinyl sticker you have to adhere with water.
You should take the round pebbles out and replace with small pieces of dragon stone.
Looks like here in 'Merica its the Top Fin: Shrimp & Plants Oasis Tank - 3 Gallon ($54.99 2 Petsmart)
Can those plants manage without CO2?
When I moved I had to sell my full 6foot tank and I miss it all so much I have to get my "fix" through you

Hi.
What about a heater?
Good video
How do you keep the plants anchored to the sand bed? Some fish will dig them up
What’s the name of that black sand, everyone I’ve tried has turned out grey
What do you treat your water with. Is it just straight tap water?!?
Hey what is a good substitute to Nutribase in the US? Should I just use sand and crushed lava rock with crushed API tabs?
What’s your advice on collecting from the wild? For instance I live right by a rocky beach. Is it safe to sauce from there?
Could you show us exactly what you did with the piece of water bottle? Nice little tank.
Can Md tanks pls list out the type of substrate used in this video (shrimp tank).. Thanks
Would a betta be ok in this if you installed a heater?
Any update on your salt water?
Question: How do you keep your ramshorns from taking over? I added two not realizing how fast they would multiply, and now I have at least 200 😳 and more clutches of eggs appearing on every plant leaf. People say not to over feed, but how do you ensure your shrimplets have enough food, considering I have to accomodate the amount of food that the ramshorns and ostracods are consuming. Yes I also have a big ostracod aka seed shrimp problem, they have taken over, despite my attempts of trying several species of fish added to eat them. None were interested in eating the little buggers, all I achieved was scaring my cherry shrimp.
14:35 Wouldn't the baby shrimps be sucked into the large holes of the filter inlet? Love the tank btw!
Had the same question and the same experience. What to do because shrimp get sucked in to the filter
