try mixing (dont over mix, just swirl around a few times) acrylic gold, silver and/ or black to your white cement to get a nice marble finish, then make it shine with a clear coat spray
FYI, cement and concrete are two different products. That's why you had so much trouble mixing one and not as much w the other. Portland Cement is an ingredient that gets mixed with a few other things to make concrete. I hope that makes sense. ✌️
Love them, Jessica! I can see these as deck planters, both the pedestal and large bowl. Either drilling drain holes or making a mold from the plastic bowls with a cutout sealed with silicone caulking to prevent cement leakage.
Thanks Tonia! I think they would look amazing as a planter. I’ll probably put succulents in some of them and put them in my backyard. Thanks for the tip on making a drainage hole.
You inspired me today, thank you . Pedestal bowls are my fav. never owned one...now I know why..because I had to make one from my own hands. Thanks for the tutorial and keeping it real. I see them as fancy water bowls for the bird ...they will love it :)
WOW! Just WOW! Only just discovered your channel and these bowls are amazing. Absolutely gorgeous and so high end looking. Well done, you made an excellent job of them 👏🏻
Love it! I’ve been wanting to make some for awhile but I’m haven’t been in the DIY mood lol. But this totally gave me the itch again. You make it look so easy 😍
Can you drill holes in these once they’re dry? Like if you wanna make them planters? Or would you want to glue a PVC pipe inside the bowl mold first to create the hole?
I’ve been looking for instruction on this exact method and BAM! you showed up on my suggested vids. TY TY TY...I’m def going to try this, you make it look so easy. New subscriber, too. 💙
Love the tan, black and brick colored bowls. Did you use white concrete for those? Can regular concrete be dyed black? And yes, please do make more diy videos. 👍
I used charcoal dye and the Mortar mix for the almost black concrete bowl. You can probably getting darker by adding more dye. I also listed what concrete and dye I used for each bowl in the video. The concrete mix is pretty inexpensive and you’ll be able to make a lot with it, so you can keep trying until you get the colors you want. Good luck!
For future reference incase you haven't figured it out yet, if you boil some water and pour it over the plastic bowl that will make it slide right off the cement :)
How many bowls were you able to make roughly from that 25lb bag? Or maybe roughly how much of the bag you used to make one bowl? Trying to get an idea of how many I can make from one bag of mortar mix :)
@@JessicaJ_ well guess what. I found another amazing white concrete that already has the sand and the strength fillers. And you can color it amazing colors with pigment from Direct Colors.or wherever... Its Premium Countertop mix. In white. Made for concrete countertops. No cracking and almost same price. I get it at Menards.
❤ all of them! So, is the dye regular dye are concrete dye? I can't wait to make some. I have been wanting to do this for a while but have been putting it off.

Did the white bowls crack? Cement needs sand added to make concrete. I leaned this recently. 😀 great video..
The white one sure did 😩 the gray cement bowl is still holding up well though

I didn’t, the white definitely needs some kind of protective coating
