Handy man here. Love this vid! One thing that will help concrete's strength is fiberglass. They sell boxes of fiberglass to mix in concrete for construction. The fiberglass comes in lengths of an inch or two and can easily be trimmed down for the smaller projects. Also it basically disappears into the concrete
I'm an interior architect and we have prop stylists bring vases and decor items from CB2 and West Elm whenever we do our photoshoots. Your DIYs look like what my stylists pay $150/item for. They look so artisanal and unique! Very inspiring!
If you want to seal your pieces, use Krylon Matt sealer or varnish… I’m an artist and usually I don’t paint anything shiny or do any sculptures shiny, so I use Krylon Spray Varnish in Clear Matt. It’s great, doesn’t change or darken the colors and it’s virtually undetectable.
No way!! He actually tweeked the process TWELVE DIFFERENT TIMES!? Just for our enjoyment! I've never seen his stuff, but THIS is everything you want from a DIY tutorial.
You’re doing great! I have a couple suggestions for you. One, because I have made the planters before, yes with a towel, I was so excited to show everyone my new project! When I got the comment “looks like you need to wash your towels more often, I was deflated! However I did experiment a bit and I found I liked flannel, or burlap the best when making the pots. Another suggestion is put your molds on top of your washer while on spin cycle for bubble release, it works amazing! Oh also, when making pots, spray the outside of plastic bag with non stick cooking spray, tug be gone!
@@casa_refined you may know already but, there is a medical shaking device that shakes bubbles out. Amazon $52 -up. Dental labs also use these. Seen this on YTuber concrete tutorial
Using a towel to make the cement vases/planters, definitely gives it texture, and it looks high end. They can be used for so many things. A gorgeous vase for a tall, stunning artificial floral display. Partly guided with gold paper, (my favourite, to match my other vases). With tall wooden sticks, painted white or flat black, and partly guided in gold. The imagination goes crazy........Yep, we get it Meg🙄
A few years ago I did some DIY projects on my walls using tile cement and oxides. Having retired, I thought I would like to take cement DIY up again and I've been watching cement DIY videos for inspiration. I'm so glad I found your channel I like it the best of all! You have such awesome taste and your presentation is elegant with a honestly that makes a person feel inspired to experiment. Thank you!
I love the way you post videos of what you try as well even if it doesn't turn as you might expect it, it really shows you have passion doing this and helps all of us learn a lot more than just plain old DIY videos!
Of all the ement planter DIY videos I've watched in the last hour, this is one of the best videos. Silicon molds are the way to go with much less struggle. Thanks!
Great job on the cement episode. Amazing what can be inexpensively created with household objects, cement , and water. Would love to see an episode about using cement to make an above counter bowl shaped bathroom sink or a kitchen counter top.
I’m so happy he does modern design! Most of the DIY decor is either farmhouse or shabby chic, which isn’t bad, but if that’s not your decor style, those videos aren’t helpful much. Like I’m not going to watch a video on how to plant a rose bush if I’m trying to learn how to replace my tire.
You constantly amaze me. Who would've expected the towel bowls to turn out to be so elegant and sculptural? And the coil bowl to turn out so authentically vintage looking? Among the trays the "river rock" one is my favorite.
I thought the last bowl was going to be a fail when you were winding the string around but your patience persisted and it turned out great. Probably my favourite!
I haven't tried it yet, but I have seen people on You tube, just pouring hot water or putting vegetable oil under to release the bowl. Well I just got my cement to begin my diys', hope I have your touch. Rock On, DIYers!!!!!!
I loved the all especially the tricket trays. They would make awesome gifts. The holiday is quickly approaching which puts you ahead of the game. Awesome content.

Thank you and I will never again doubt ur method. So young, yet so wise - horale mijo - keep the great ideas coming. Te siento en mi espiritu - I FEEL the vive!!
I love the tray you called "tie-dye." With black, gray & titanium white you would maybe get a marble pattern. I see these trays after sealing as charcuterie trays (would need to wash by hand.) Love your turorials!
These look like something you’d find at high end home stores, best DIY video I’ve seen! Perfectly matches my aesthetic hehe thank you for sharing !! ☺️
Good morning, I love all three projects. They are so authentic and smart! The 1st two containers can be used for placing a jar with planters inside or even a bouquet of flowers. They are really really smart and lovely. Something special for a home. Thank you for sharing.
This is so helpful! I've been wanting to buy a cement tray but it's like $20 for one with shipping. This is a much more affordable and fun way to make them.
Good choices for design projects. I think I will do the towel/cement technique, but in a rectangle shape to hold magazines or unread mail. Thanks for sharing!
Shut UP! You are always blowing my mind! I follow a ton of DYI channels, but you are one of a kind! Those towel vases are giving me life! ... also my favorite tray is the one you wet sanded that you're not a fan of. 😂😂 Looks gorgeous!
They look great. A couple of suggestions put them in bathroom vanity with hand soap and hand lotion dispenser. Other idea is what I have done near kitchen sink with dish soap and hand soap dispenser. Looks more refined.love your channel. Sending hugs from Australia.🇦🇺👌🏻
Wow, I really like all three but the rope bowl is amazing. Thank you for making this inspiring video. Your teaching technique is great. You're down to earth and make me feel very comfortable and confident that I can do this. Carry on diy king🤴.
Those coasters could be used as a tile.... you could snap them in half, put half of the cement tray back into the form, and do a cool resin look on the other half.... drill holes on both sides, hang each one from chain and mount air plants to the center of each tray.... attach “feet” to the bottom of each tray, etc. So many fun ideas!
Jorge, I came across your channel by accident but I am thrilled I did. I love love love your dyi-s. You make everything look so simple and they come out beautifully. You are amazing!! Thank you for being on UA-cam.!!
SAY WHAT? 😯 I have never before seen the technique that you used for the cement vases with the cloth as well as the one you did with the mold on other channels that I watch. Absolutely great creativity!! I am sooo impressed!! Lindy ☺😀🇨🇦
I'm in LOVE with the tray mold. It's so simple and elegant and it must be incredibly sturdy so it's something that would last forever. I'm so glad I came across this video. Definitely subscribing and definitely going to check out the rest of your content!
I prefer the plain ones because for me they are elegant and can be combined with other items in the house. I see you are enjoying. Carry on dear friend. And thank you for sharing.
I like how the rope bowl turned out. The black-ish color makes it look like it was unearthed at Pompeii or someplace else ancient. You could try making a sort of rim by doing a second layer of rope around what will be the top, laying the second rope layer in the grooves made by the first layer for a couple/few inches, depending on how big the bowl is.
Totally in love with the last bowl you made....already went to instagram 😍. You're style is so amazing and I love concrete crafts! Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
Wow, these are fabulous, and they look like you paid good money for them! My favorite is definitely they last bowl, but I also am craving all those trinket trays. I can’t believe all the looks you got out of that technique.
I love the tray for the kitchen, bathroom or jewerly... for the lotion/soap bottles or maybe in the kitchen to put your dishwasher soap, maybe the salt and pepper tray or candles love ittttt

Wow, you're at 11k subs now? Congrats, it's all so well deserved. I love the aesthetic on your channel and your sense of humour makes it so much fun. Exhibit A; Jorge: "I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm just mixing the crap out of it". Result: a perfect decor piece that looks like you purchased it at a high-end outlet. I love that you didn't hide the mistakes and turned what you considered a 'fail' into a success. It was hard to pick a favourite but the 12 cement trays you made - each one unique in itself - was brilliant and together they could make an awesome piece of wall art. Just so talented.

DUDE. EXACTLY. my mind is blown after every video he makes.
Agree
Your stylist pays $150 a pop because you're paying for someone else's labor, which makes it worth it.
No way someone would spend $150 for that concrete towel. If you're paying your stylist to do that, she is scamming you the extra $125. 💯

Have never seen a vintage bowl done before! Wow!
wow, cool! A sealant I like is Rustoleum Matte Clear Enamel. Haven't tried it on cement, but it dries clear and matte, not shiny.
Using cotton rope will make the project go much easier and be more durable as it absorbs the cement better than poly
