Most informative video. Thanks! Pretty sure this is the kind of camellia one of my neighbors has as a huge bush. Last year it was completely covered with blooms. So beautiful 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸.
Thank you, Jim, for posting this very informative video. I had looked at about five or six before yours, and I still had questions, but you hit on all the questions I had. One question I do still have is how do you amend soil that is slow draining. I planted two Clematis, but I noticed the water doesn’t drain well there.
I reported my camellia into a larger pot with acid compost, potting soil and a granular fertilizer. It's spring here in South Africa. The leaves dried up completely. Can it come back?
I have a Gay Baby camelia that I bought recently. I haven't seen it on UA-cam anywhere. I'm just not sure where to put it and how much sun it can take. The tag says sun/ part shade and it blooms in the spring. Right now, it's in the pot it came in, behind a patio post where it doesn't get full sun.Can you help me? I was thinking about training it to go around the post. It's supposed to grow 6 feet.
Ugh deer love them 🤦🏻♀️ no .. ok my question is how much do they grow in a year ? Are they fast growers? I need a evergreen hedge that grows fast and no more than 9 feet
Hi Jim. I got a great deal on a sasanqua that I couldn't pass up. It was at the nursery in fairly dense shade...in its new location it is getting a little sunburn since im planting it at pretty much the worst time and shocking it with more sun from 2- 6... is there a particular type of gardening cloth I can use for a month or two until the sun is less intense? Can I leave it on 24 / 7 for now? I'm 7b.... update: right after I typed this I looked up the variety and made a mistake...it's a japonica. Ugh. Should I just move it since it is getting thay hot afternoon sun?
I’ve had a camelia for years and it’s never bloomed, what should I do, it’s been in a clay pot in the shade. Seems to be healthy, dark green foliage but no flowers.😐
For the curious, this is an exceptional info. video re. the handling of ALL Camellias…Nice work. Jim 👌😉

How do you propagate them?
You mention 6b. You believe it will survive on a south side up against my home in the ground?
Is there one that grows in full sun. I need something for a south side of the home - access plant to my azaleas “royalty”
Could you do a video on Podocarpus macrophyllus vs “maki” yews. Great looking shrubs but hard to find information about.
thanks for all the tips!

Well done
Are Camellia sasanquas fast growers?
My camelia buds go brown second season in a row.. what can I do to stop it?
Hi, my snow pink camellia was hurted by cold , how can I do?

NOT the shrub for you! Look at some of the new arborvite. Do NOT plant Leylands, they get too big & have disease issues.

+H S Camellia japonica really needs shade at that time of the day. Sasanquas are more sun tolerant
Thanks Jim your videos are the best!

Lourdes Zayas do you fertilize?
I pruned mine and half of it died, it has come back but now I am scared to prune it again
+Margaret Monde I prune them hard after they are very large. I wouldn't prune hard on a small plant.
