    I can speak all Thai and Laos words 100% I found some secret in northern Vietnam, northern Myanmar, northern India and southern China also speak Tai-kadai. I can understand when they speaking🎉 Thank you this clip🎉

    lao and thai sound like the same language to me. I am thai and lao is more understandable to me than most thai regional dialects.

    Im lao and it depends on what region you are from and dialects/accents. There are some phrases I don't barely say in Lao on here or/ and will rephrase it differently

      Lao rarely use formal words when speaking nowadays. After 1975 they took the “r” sound away, r become an l sound. Hope they’re bring it back.

      Agree I remember in 80s the words 100 roi means 100.. with the r sounds now they change to h sounds like hoi...I think the r sounds better that Hoi roi

      @@chung388 say what? 100 pronounce as Hoi . Not in my family. We say both: Roi or Loi .

      Ratri is not used commonly in Thai language.
      Only in some poem.
      but we made this word because we want translate english good night to Thai language

    the good night one is similar like here in india. we also use the word "ratri" for night. and i've seen the word "gulaab" used in thai for rose is same in india

      Ratri is borrowed word from Sanskrit or Pali language which originated from India.

    As a Thai, I think Thai language sound in this video it's not commonly speaking. It's like a robot because in real life Thai spoken language and written language it's quite different.

    In thai we also use นอนหลับฝันดี (non lab fan dee)… ราตรีสวัสดิ์ sounds super weird in normal speech

    Thai & Laos sound similar and Vietnamese sounds like Cantonese

      Yes, Thai people who are living in the northeast of Thailand we use our own dialect language to communicate and we can completely understand what Laos people said.

    fyi, Lao people daily watch Thai TV (as usaul), that would be enough to imply the intelligible between these languages

    There are basically two dialects, Lao and its variants and Lue with its variants. Sukothai spoke a Lao variant while Ayuthaya spoke a Lue variant.
    Shan, Ahom and Pun speak Lue dialects
    Lanna, Sukothai, Luangprabang speak the Lao dialects
    These are from linguistic studies

    As for me Russian native both languages seem similar, only some pitch accent is different.

    0:38 nonrab fan di! actually means have good dreams when you're sleeping. I am Thai, and nonrab fan di! actually means to have good dreams in Thai.
    PS Sorry I couldn't actually type the real writing. I'm not that great at Thai.

    actually, it is more similar between thai and lao than the example in this video.
    the sentence is same, only vocab is different.
    in this video example sentenve, you choose the different structure sentence to compare between thai and lao, so it looks not so similar.

      @@c-zarthezenith8232the only difference is the dialect/pronunciation. The people that live in Isan speak Lao. The truth is that there is no Isan language.

      @@c-zarthezenith8232 you want to believe you have thai orgin. Sure, because perhaps thai has more popularity. Give me a break. You don't want to claim you are Lao. Isan is 100% Lao people. That use to be part of Laos until the Thai invaded and took that land from Laos. I Lao & proud 100%. My mother is from the so called 'isan' region. I never claim that damn thai. I am LAO !!!

    Lao its more simple, thai have many declinations in phonetics and writing little complicated in writing. Thai have influences from Khmer lang and Burmese lang too, why its a little different from Lao in orthography and phonetics.

    Looks like Thai is draggy and more of cantonese influence while Lao is more of Hokkien influence.

      ​@@user-catfederation1991lao people understand thai people more because of movies and music. Lao music and movies is no where big as thai. Thai media everywhere in laos. Thai people have harder time understanding lao.

They watch Thai TV and use Thai products and everything that comes from Thailand. Thai ppl basically understand lao 50-60% while Lao understand thai 95% because they consume too much Thai media 555
