i feel social when i am alone and i feel alone when i am social Edit: It's been 2 years since i posted this comment and it seems like a lot of people have the same experience of ther inner world when socializing or trying to. I just wanted to say that i don't feel like this anymore. Change is possible. I had a job for 18 months where i was forced to communicate with hundreds of people everyday, in person. You really have to put in the effort and try to get out of yourself. Before when i was standing in a group, i really felt out of place every time. Like a black hole who sucks in the good energy because of the lack of ability to contribute to a conversation or just hanging around and having fun. Look at your body language, your face and really try to be in the moment. I learned that it is a skill and not that i am born an introvert and can't do nothing about it. If you are a student or generally young take maybe for some time a job where you have to communicate with a lot of people, for example a waiter. I am now 21 and feel like for the first time in my life, that i belong to a group when we talk. In the beginning I used the trick of snapping my fingers in front of my face, the sound of it and the action brought me out of my head. Stop listening to your constant rush of thoughts and FEEL the energy of the people and give them also yours. Life is about people and relatshionships. Also: Put your thoughts into something creative, maybe it just has to get out. I discovered for example my love for creative writing a year ago and I am working on my first novel. Good luck.
@@upsidedownkingdom5263 Interesting that you think that I am funny, based on my online personality test result... do all personality types see one another as funny or strange? Or is it a thing to just perceive a specific type as weird? Ok I will shut up now.
@@seahorse0009 Hehe, that was a bit of a generalisation I made wasn't it? Really the comment I replied to made me laugh and what I wrote I didn't really think about. But admittedly, I do assume all INTPs are witty based on the fact that all the ones I know are - to my sense of humour at least :). So yeah you based on your personality test probably are too in my mind if you're an INTP. Weird, hmm, I dont see INTPs as weird, but I do get very confused trying to figure out other people. Do you see other personality types as weird?
@@upsidedownkingdom5263 No, I don't. Well, I don't necessarily understand them, but I don't think that they are weird; just someone who I am not. After all, if there was only one true personality, then no one would have a personality. But it's not like I dislike people because of their personality, I'll be friends with them, it's just that we won't understand each other. So no, I just don't understand them, I do not think that they are weird. That probably made absolutely no sense but whatever.
@@seahorse0009 So you're an INTP right? Do you feel like you're walking on eggshells with ES personalities? Hehe.. I do - one minute we are having a great time and the next they are extremely mad at me and I can't quite figure out why :). Oh well, as long as we understand that we need the strengths of our differences, we probably don't need to ever understand each other fully.
"INTPs hate rules." False. We hate /bad/ rules. If the best reason is "Because I said so" and there is a laundry list of exceptions, then yeah, we're going to challenge those so-called rules. We want /good/ rules, but we just say "truth" instead.
iIlove following rules provided i'm the one that made the rule. Following other peoples rules will often annoy me because a lot of it will be unnecessary and time wasting.
Why is only maths and science considered so great for thinking. what about creating music, what about developing stories and concepts, or poems which can make people cry. It's sad that only 3% of population is like this.
Actually music is pretty related to math (many musicians are good at math) I used to hate math (mostly because I was so lazy and I didn't bother to do anything to improve my grades) before knowing how to play bass and guitar, after practicing a lot, my grades went up and I find myself doing math problems when I need inspiration in order to create more music. It's all about creativity, doesn't matter if it's science or art.
It's not sad. I have reading somewhere that as if we look at the all humans as a one being, cognitive functions are naturally well balanced. Imagine if 50% of population were thinkers, that would mean that world have too much people that think but don't actually make things. Portion of isus made to inovate and think, majority is here to actually do that job by following our rules if that make any sense. INTP and INTJ, biggest thinkers of all personalities, but do we enjoy working for others? Following rules and not questioning them? Not really. Its often said that science is for INTP because of thinking and the nature of work(you often work alone). But that doesn't mean you can write, create music etc. Those are skills and can be learned by anyone with enough will. It's just that different personalities have different approaches to all those things.
Glowing Gaze Obviously there is but when you create music you don’t need to know anything about maths. You create from your soul and there is no equation for your soul. You don’t need maths if you are creating music. There is difference between playing an instrument and creating pieces from it.
Glowing Gaze and please don’t talk about school maths or college maths. That’s not math. Don’t even talk about grades. No one gives a crap about it. Real maths is maths like John Nash(just an example) Where you think and create. Not our school maths where we don’t have to think shit. It’s pathetic and holds no purpose. The kind of maths he is talking is the useful one which theoretical physicist use. So please he is talking actual math which is not done to get a stupid A or B grades and be such a good and nice student it’s done to change the world or explain how things work in the universe.
As an INTP I often have obsessions that last about 2 months at its longest. During those two months I can only really focus on those obsessions... Anyone relates?
Yes. This is why I leave so many projects unfinished. I can really research on the topic that I like for months just for fun, then neglect to do anything with those facts after I've moved on.
@@Barii748 i know you're serious. You wouldn't have phrased your comment like that if you weren't. What I'm saying is, just bc i talk about it doesn't mean I'm not taking it seriously or that it's not important to me. I saw a lot of comments like mine, idk if they were kidding but I sure as hell am not. I don't want to argue, it's not what I'm trying to do here. Sorry if i sound rude
Lol. We tent to but I came to the conclusion that eventhough is boring u need to have fun in order to have the day goes by fast. So u can get home and relax alone lol
I'm a stay-at-home mom and wife. I get to listen to lectures, documentaries, etc. I also get to instill information and truths to my children. I'm homeschooling them. I don't want to send my children to school and have them come out like the rest of society. I'd rather teach them my self rather than have to undo bad information or stuff in missed or incomplete information after they've had a whole day of school. Plus, I don't like rules. Especially when I view them as a waste. Most of the time at school is wasted on classroom management. You can teach a single or up to 5 children an entire day's worth of school in 2-5 hours and use the rest of the day doing other productive things.
I agree with everything except 2:43 When I try to explain something I sound like a blithering idiot. Cannot explain stuff if my life depended on it. Often I forget what I'm talking about mid-sentence. Lol.
Exactly, if they would just give me the world, I would show them how to run it. Everything has a specific finite logic. I usually understand perfectly what I am trying to convey to the listener, but if I'm too tired, in the moment of thinking, or just not in the mood; my explanation of the perfect socio political system, jazz chord melody arrangement, or electronic repair, just comes out...".....uh...shoe". Then, two seconds after it no longer matters, I think of the perfect analogy or explanation of my original idea.
I am an INTP and have to say i find lots of interest in music, sports, philosophy, psychology but absolutely hate subjects that involve math. Im able to express my introverted thoughts through the music and I can lose my self with philosophical theories that I one day hope to find the answers to. My passion lies within the compassion of the world and to some day achieve world peace while also bringing a much bigger purpose for humanity. (:
Yep. Sometimes I see that no one gets it and I'll leave the conversation mid-sentence, absolutely embarrassed, knowing full well they think I'm an idiot. Yay.... This is why I don't have friends.
Doesn't pass the smell test for me. Someone would have to show me the analysis to buy into it. But why bother, they no longer serve meals on planes anyway.
It's definitely hard. Especially during training for a new job/position. People telling me what/how to do something but when asked why it's done that way, they get frustrated because they don't know. Best advise I can give, learn it, then try it different ways to determine the reason. It's a long stressful process for sure but learning something vs understanding something is completely different.
Although we don’t care for being popular we do have our ego to feed when we are young and developing which will often times lead us to do things to be noticed. I recommend reading the book INTP by Dr. A.J. Drent
Same but it may just be a natural progression or it could be we were born ENTP's and society (school) forced us into INTP in order to make it through. Or it could be bacteria or toxin exposure. Whenever I think something is not caused by gut bacteria I am proven wrong.
@@teefpowder9770 Ha! So true. I found out that I had amazingly fast analytical/reasoning/pattern recognition skills not too long ago. I got treated for anxiety and the skills just blew up. I always knew that there was something there hiding under the surface all of these years. Gut health = mental health as you know. Had I remained extroverted, I might not have recognized the change after treating the anxiety.
I always was INTP, but I was very social in my younger years (primary school). As puberty came, I dropped my social life and started questioning stuff.
It’s surprising to see intps on here saying they hate math. I love math, it’s logical, you are presented with a problem and there are multiple ways to solve it and get a solution. I’m not very good at memorizing mental math like doing multiplication in my head, but give me a graphing calculator and I’m great at algebra, wondering if I should become a mathematician, engineer, research scientist, etc. but math does appeal to me greatly
I am an INTP but i hate math cuz my mid always just starts to overthink while solving equations and sometimes i just end up with wrong answers cuz of this but basic math is just good enough for me
I kinda suspect that a lot of them had rigid math teachers, which stunted their confidence to experiment with math. I don't like math that much in itself, but my brain would find ways and/or reasons to use it. I've always felt I'm better at math than I am at science, but I enjoy science more. As far as math my brain still reuses, the Pythagorean Theorem is the main deal, and sometimes I'll look at median vs. average if someone references a graph or data set. If I'm bored and want some number pondering food I'll go and reference Pascal's Triangle, or the Fibonacci Sequence.
I like that he uses the more polite descriptors "offbeat and unconventional" to describe us rather than the more accurate "unhinged, eccentric, and/or mildly to widely disturbing " group of adjectives.
Glad you included Musician in the careers list. So often people assume that music is only about emotions or that musicians are only ever Feelers, but it is so much more. Analysis is a key part of musicianship, whether one is a performer, composer, teacher, historian, or critic.
Exactly! INTP here and I'm studying to be a singer. I love learning about technique from a phisiological point of view and I also like to learn different scales so I can improvise when singing gospel or jazz.
Of course they dont mention that the fundamental fore father of MBTI, CARL JUNG, was an INTP. fail. also psychologist is a main career goal, and they forgot that INTP have a deep well of emotion but theyre so analytical they nearly but not fully eliminate irrational displays of them
I usually don't notice an emotion until it spills out. I usually don't pay much attention to them, and I get annoyed when they spill out. I don't like having to deal with my emotions. I'm not a big fan of other's emotions either. (exhausting) They make things more complicated and get in the way. Like my fear of failure. It's just a feeling but it can send me into a depression then I can't seem to get anything done. ANNOYING!
nope, I only did okay in school because I was almost always bored.. I couldn't handle my classmates asking questions that seemed so simple to me, so I just blacked out, listened to the teacher as much as I could and that was usually enough to get decent grades without wasting another minute on homework :D
Well, now I know why I'm not good at being friends with someone. I can befriend people easily enough I suppose, but after a few days I just lose contact with that person and don't really care about it. I only notice how alone I am when I realize that my classmates are making plans, going out, and having fun without me. That's when I became emotional and cry when I'm alone, but then I get over it and I feel fine on my own again. Life goes on.
Yeah thats true. We wont stop until we've solved the problem, finished our latest invention, or - in the overwhelming majority of cases- put so much thought into it that were tired of thinking.
I was thinking about that too. We're not driven to completion- that's an INTJ thing. I drop things I was previously interested and invested in all the time. I have a few half written stories too. I researched my material (for accuracy) to the point I wasn't interested in the subject or writing about it anymore at all.
I’m an INTP Chemical engineering student and for the past 2 years I’ve gone from wanting to go to med school to wanting pharmacology to forensics, and at the same time I like what I’m doing, I’m just so indecisive
didn’t know that there aren’t many of us out there. i’m an artist/graphic designer. i actually hate math with a passion but i love organizing and creating a lot. so i can only relate to a portion of this.
Mike H ah maybe. i’ll have to see. but planning isn’t my forte either, i like physically arranging stuff, organizing so it looks good. but it seems like this kind of testing is outdated i heard and is something that business really only use. so i wouldn’t take anything that this says to heart. so whatever :)
oh internally organizing ideas and theories or your works of art in your case are intp like.. I thought u meant organizing plans and people which is intj like. I agree this test is accurate in my opinion but you gotta realize its a spectrum. For me I am mostly INTP but only 60% introverted and 65% Thinking so I know that I'm somewhere between INTP and ENFP. Which kinda makes sense since both INTP and ENFP puts freedom and autonomy on a pedestal
I find it really annoying when I have to explain something more than one time. I even find it annoying to explain things in the first place because I expect people to just work their way through any any task or problem in an analytical logical way, like myself. However, I also realize that most people just prefer to be fed the solution to their issues rather than use their own brain. And of course, I have to be "polite and respectful" in order to not "hurt their feelings". The worst kind of people are (not evil people, just among the regular ones) are those who just state that they have some problems with their feelings. Like "oh, nobody loves me" type stuff. What the heck are we supposed to to about that? People are a hassle to deal with in general.
That's me. I think I should say something for them to continue the relationship, but I don't know how. I say 'it will be alright' but it feels awkward and I don't know what to say next.
Or they give you their problems, you give them a solution and tell them what will happen if they don't take it, "Oh that's a good idea! I ought to do that!", they proceed to not do it and the EXACT thing you said would happen does happen so they come complain to you again.
My gosh I know! I hate it when someone’s just having a tantrum and crying about how they get bad grades but then they mess around and don’t even take notes in class. I mean what do you expect? Of course if you have some sort of mental situation that makes it harder for you, you can go and get some official declaration from a psychiatrist so you can find an education program suited for you but if you don’t and only complain then it’s just your own fault.
I'm an early childhood educator (so good for studying authentic human behavior), an artist (abstract painting) and an artisan (clear resin jewelry with real nature cast inside). I have this wild drive to learn. If I'm interested in something I'll learn about it for however long it takes me to get distracted by something else to learn about (I do the same with skills). I will rearrange my entire worldview after learning and researching new facts.
I actually get obsessed with pop culture/artist and can engage in a conversation with other people if they have the same interest as mine. But get bored and dismiss them if they talk about artists I don’t like.😂
I just wish I could learn for the rest of my life, instead of focusing on a career for stupid society. Does living in a huge library sound like heaven to anyone else?
I don’t read very much, I usually just play videogames and watch shows to gain entertainment. Even so, that would sound amazing and I’d probably take that option if I had it.
I related so hard, esp. with those pictures, that I kept bursting out laughing while watching. It does seem like a summary of 16personalities, but it's not word for word and I enjoy this format.
I have so many thoughts, yet have a difficult explaining them & i am always in my head . Im learning to love myself, thank you glad to know im not looney lol 😆
I'm according to the test INTP. Everything you said at the beginning sounds very relatable, maybe except for "read people well" as I have autism/asperger its actually a bit hard to determine just how well or badly I read people. I don't identify with everything said later, for example I have lots of decor at home and really appreciate it. And for occupation I work in a wood factory, which sounds nothing like the occupations you suggest. I generally think its valid to settle for "good enough" in occupation, especially with how hard it is to get a job today, and its either way not the norm to love your job. From what I usually hear of I'm lucky to have a job I can tolerate and not be constantly stressed/worn out from
I got fired from every job I’ve ever had except the one where the boss died. Supervisors think we INTPs are slow, doing nothing but I have a theory. We see the end then figure out the steps to achieve it. Other people tinker around with process first so they look busy. Anybody else solve problems this way?
Mmeee!! I can't even relate how someone completes their task so rapidly or how they complete the entire book in a day..on the other hand there is me..who would like to absorb the book completely in slow process creating critical analysis at the same time so that no one could put me down in that field atleast.. otherwise the entire process would be a waste of tym for me😑
I’m kinda like you guys except that I like going through really fast over and over, and then deconstructing and then rebuild the said concept/subject/topic until I have a solid understanding of the concept/subject/topic. Even then I repeat this process for the next month to year until I can confidently say I understand this concept/subject/topic. Also all the slashes were added in while writing this cause I felt like it wasn’t clear enough about what I was talking about.
i just want to jump off a cliff whenever someone talks sports to me, and since everyone seems to be a normie.. its exceptionally brutal. can't escape it. lol
This was the best INTP video explanation I have ever seen. It went straight into all the important parts, left nothing out, and was extremely well organized. Amazing 🤩 ❤️👍🏻
We work as analytical as we could but even as an INTP, what i think drives us the most is our passion. Yes, i know that passion is what drives everyone to do stuff but it's magnified to us. Being so pessimistic and skeptical to the point of questioning life, itself, when we get to find a field where we're so damn passionate about, this is when we get to shine.
I am an INTP, I got moderate grades in high school without doing a lick of homework, literally, love learning new things (particularly when I find it interesting). Have a bad habit of correcting people over the smallest of things. I love to debate/ I’m very argumentative, push the boundaries of rules, like figuring out how to do things my own way and I am quiet but always thinking and getting lost in my own thoughts, at first I thought I had ADD but I soon came to realize I just think a lot and love thinking
I agree with most of it, I'm an INTP I usually forget halfway through aswell 😂 here's an interesting thought for you other INTPs, I find that most INTPs are good at art, does anyone else agree?
Part of art is the ability to see something different from most people, and the gift to bring that perspective to others. Words may fail where music and art succeed.
This is concise and accurate for sure, the only thing is I dont think I've ever ended a discussion with a sigh and a "never mind." Instead, my conversation partner has been the one to change the subject or end with "agree to disagree" while I'm still willing to debate the topic and any related tangent, preferably until the sun burns out.
"IT Guy" for a US chip maker. I analyze everything and I find myself constantly searching for "motivators" for other people's behaviors to answer the question "why did he/she do or react that way?" I don't necessarily have anything against watching television, but I never do it because I have too many other things that I need/want to do and it is so passive. I am married (my wife was a math major and works as a software tester) but I don't really have any close friends. I train my Weimaraners for bird hunting but a huge chunk of the draw for me is the solitude while watching my dogs work in a tall grass prairie or wheat field 25 miles away from the nearest paved road. I always question my beliefs and put my beliefs up against my own BS detector. I am what I am and there isn't much that I can do about it. ;-)
I love being an INTP, though its hard for others to understand me or my thought process to me its like following the red string from point to point. I really dislike it when my friends say "oh that's good enough" I'm like no but its not it can always be better if you just try. I've found it hard to talk to people about things not supported by facts. Even watching this video I've wondered if his facts are right and then had to compare them to many other web pages and videos about INTP. I can say the best match for an INTP when it comes to love or a life partner is an INFJ. I've found mine and we work extremely well together.
Took the Meyers-Briggs test and this is the personality type I was shown to have. My Psychology teacher in high school once told me ,when I let him know that I daydream a lot, that to be careful because I will live in my head and avoid real life.
Middle school, high school teachers can be quit stupid. I have a lot of distasteful experiences with many of teachers growing up. I did get lost in the clouds a lot. It wasn't until I went to college that I felt appreciated, heard, seen. My professors loved me. I made strong friendships with four of them.
I’m a 14 year old intp. A lot of the traits people say an intp should have I do have. However, I sometimes hear people saying that we don’t care about our physical appearance. From my experience, I usually need my ego to be stroked sometimes just to feel normal or feel good. Is this normal and for the older intps did you guys have this and do you still?
I’ve been called Spock by 2 of my exes in the past for being too ‘distant’ and unattached. It can be a challenge for INTPs to find a tolerant, let alone suitable mate
Projects, namely planning out a cake, creating a scrap dragon, and watching UA-cam for personal research. (Who am I? Random facts, and the punny side of the internet.)
I am a intp i don’t think celebrities are a waste of time, i see it quite interesting but ive concluded that the things celebrities attract aren’t the coolest things.
That's me to a T... 😞. I've always wondered, if you could clone yourself would every clone be the same personality type? Or could some be different depending on the upbringing?
Hi ! Well... Due to a lack of reviewed data for obvious reasons, such as human cloning being illegal in France and me lacking the funds and hideout to do such a thing, none can accurately answer your question. However, I've been said by my mom and many of my father's friends and former co-workers that I had reactions just like his, while I've only met him thrice in my 19 years long life (early divorce). But these few times were enough for me to realize that he was as much of an INTP as I am, just a more frustrated and thus not really nice version. On the other hand, one could tell you that twins, although they share the same genetic material, are often of different personality types even when they're brought up together... So I guess both parameters have an influence. Or we could ask Divayth Fyr...
Your upbringing plays heavily into your personality, however it settles when you are rather young. It can change wih conditioning but it is incredibly difficult.
Well you’d have to clone yourself as a baby and then place the two in different households with entirely different upbringings, then I’d say they’d be different. Humans are creatures of habit, and habits can be picked up from parents. Therefore altering the human , hence the two would be different even though they’re the same. I forgot to add morals and ethics but yeah lol.
I think so though, this is only personal opinion, I believe we would all be different if we changed our pasts in some way (even though I believe that to be quite impossible not to the lack of time travel but because if you did something in the past nothing would change because it would have all ready happend)
I am an INTP. There appears to be a lot of talk about poor communication skills & because I'm a writer, I find that my grasp of language helps. A bit of knowledge on body language & channels like Charisma on Command (might be demand) are also pretty useful. Ridding yourself from the shackles of perception of strangers is a game changer . An elimination of filter and articulating thoughts can leave people perceiving you as funny. A. lot of comments describe this "type" as an affliction. I don't think it is.
@@MechanicalMooCow then I am INTP, because it is what I get from the actual paid version. Still, I am pretty 50/50 on the answers for F/T. Also I disagree that a person could not be equally heart and head... What can I do? I fit both equally.
I am the same. I've taken many different tests(even a paid one in college) and I have always gotten the same results. I am INTP but my T/F section is always about 55%T/45%F. And I think it is due to the way I think of the world. I put a high value on human emotions in whatever circumstances they might arise. I do think emotions interfere with logic and reasoning, but I also think there's a time and place for logic and in depth conversations/concepts to be thrown around. When emotions are high is not one of them. Or when the potential for emotions is high. Also depending on each individual situation. I just respect the fact that there will always be people more emotional than me, and their emotions are not something to be easily swatted away like a mildly annoying fly (like mine) lol, and there's a strong possibility they can't actually do that like i can. Using my INTP functions I think that I came to a decent conclusion and understanding of how logic relates to emotions in other (more emotional) people. Something like... other people's emotions aren't some useless bullshit thing to be trifled with or manipulated or bybassed, but something to be respected and dealt with in a correct way(compassion), difficult as it may be...
@@Shroomzee I totally agree with you! My T/F results are always just a couple percent more toward the T in so many tests that I took as well and yeah, I feel the same way as you.. but I think the "emotion" thingy works for me more when it comes to animals rather than humans.. Idk why, but I mostly find myself cannot understand human's feelings and stuffs like that but I do avoid myself saying harsh things even when it's truth to other people because idk, i feel like it's the most logical thing to do and urmm yeaa haha sorry my english sucks and I write too much I hope you understand, 😂
@@MechanicalMooCow the types are just a model that works quite well for now, but that can and must be challenged. If being F or T is an spectrum or a percentage, unless there is a clear reason as to why someone can't be 50/50 why is it that hard to believe?
Can you tell me why yours has the INTP as “The Thinker” other sites use: “The Engineer” “The Logician” “The Thinker/Seeker” Isn’t the MBTI a standardized test?
Hey there, INTP here, just wanted to give some feedback, I really liked your video and the way you broke down the traits of my personality type, however I did find some of what you said - not to be wrong - but requiring further explanation and/or elaboration: 1. As an INTP I don’t think that I am particularly good at reading people or situations, in fact, I know I am very bad at it; what I would say is that the combination of being so self-aware and striving for excellence end up working in such a way that I have several coping mechanisms for social situations that actually work in my favor, making me good at predicting how my actions will be perceived. 2. As I said, I think that my greatest attribute is my ability to have a very objective type of empathy, being able to easily abstract the way that others are feeling and how to place myself in their shoes - I attribute this to, as I mentioned before, my inherent self-awareness. 3. When you say that INTPs don’t like small talk or social niceties, I would personally disagree, because weather or not theses interactions are pleasurable for me, is if I can exercise my analytical skills upon the conversation, like trying to read subtext in what is said, or social tendencies in the way that people express their opinion. 4. While I definitely like alone time, I often find that pushing myself into situations where I have to communicate with others and hear their points of view, actually makes me more well adept, which as an INTP, is really great. 5. I see your video is form 2018, but Elliot Paige has transitioned, so I think it would be in good taste to add a textbox, or something in the description clarifying that Ellen Paige is no longer his name. Lastly, I would like to offer some advice to my fellow INTPs who struggle with, as your video pointed out, our inability to handle the “good enough” perspective, since I struggled with it a lot myself: 1. The first step is admitting that we aren’t perfect, therefore mistakes are ultimately inevitable - this is perhaps the root of what makes an INTP mad about not succeeding or not allowing ourselves to just be passable - but I found that if I look at my previous mistakes as learning opportunities, and actually do the work of learning from them, it’s an easier pill to swallow. 2. There is a saying that states “Don’t allow perfectionism become the enemy of productivity” and I often found that in my search for perfection, I wouldn’t allow myself even to begin a task in fear of failure, to this I advise my fellow INTPs the following, only practice makes perfection, so don’t allow yourselves to become stagnant in fear. 3. Often I still feel like I need to strive for improvement in life, but often when applied to a task, it can become an endless cycle of self-flagellation because we will never truly be able to achieve that, so my suggestion is that instead of striving to improve tasks in our lives, we focus our energy in improving ourselves, and our skills, that is very liberating because it gives us INTPs what we most crave: an interesting project that will never end.
It’s great that I learnt my personality as an INTP earlier in life. Since now I’m aware there’s some things that are natural for me to do, especially when it comes to weaknesses. Strangely I have a disliking to math, as it doesn’t capture my interest. This kinda ruins my grades, but I have a passion for English, History and Science because those are informations I find I can use in a future debate. I also find that looking for careers and hobbies I’m interested is hard. Since I can never finish any projects. And lastly I dislike how easily I can become distant with my friends since I can’t help them emotionally. I love being an intp an all, but I wish I can somehow improve or over come my weaknesses. Since it effects me badly...
I’m not sure if this is a common trait but I find whenever someone cries in front me instead of being compassionate or reassuring, I get mad that they’re not in control of their emotions. I see people that wear their hearts on their sleeves as weak and I know it’s wrong but it’s too deep a visceral impulse to resist. It’s actual disgust that boils up in me, and I can’t control it.
@@targitausrithux2320 They use opposing functions though, so in that case it makes less sense. The functions Te and Ti, as well as Fi and Fe, are complete opposites. I recommend looking into all the functions and judging your type from them. It'll be more accurate than a fallible test, where the answers can fluctuate depending on your mood and memory.
I'm an INTP and heres the thing some of this was true, but I cannot explain myself well, and I am not a scientist (I'm more history focused) and I LOVE pop-culture. Not reality tv pop-culture but literally everything else like I hyper-fixate on TV shows 24/7.
a lot off things got explaned when I found out that I'm a INTP, a lot of my questions were answered, I feel soo much confotably with myselfh now, it's hard, cause I need people to live, but knowing why I don't fit in make me feel better than only questioning
I’m INTP. The first job career I thought of as a child was architect. I became a doctor. My passion is analyzing and designing new methods of how we work in the ER. Excuse me for my poor english.
Yes finally people like me. I havent people like this before. Reading the comments makes me understand myself more. I am so glad I took that damn personality test. People in the comments have the exact experiences like me! Its so accurate its scary.
Im enfj-t and my wife's self declared an intp-t. 15 years of mental roller coaster rides. Anyways she 'let' me show her this video, and SHE LAUGHED 5 times at each intp description humor, i guess. She's normally a NOT laugher. Thanks y'all
I do well in my caring career. I'm an early childhood educator. I really enjoy working with young children who haven't begun to hide their authentic selves. I'm not very sympathetic when they ignore my safety warnings then trip on something while running inside (obviously I still take care of them, but remind them it's their own fault and can learn from their mistakes), but I genuinely get excited to see them grasp new concepts, or get really excited about what we're doing that day. Children fall down knowledge spirals just the same as I do, and I get to help guide that. The ONLY aspect of my career I struggle with, stems from the fact that most people who work with young children are completely different than myself.
@@chelseymathers2009 I wouldn't classify teaching as 'caring.' It doesn't involve having to bathe them, pick up their vomit, dress and feed them, wipe their asses, or comfort them every time they feel down. I used to teach as well, and while watching my (adult) students process and grasp everything I taught gave me a personal high, I absolutely hated having to go home and spend my free time creating lesson plans/printing/prepping materials/grading. I'd rather just work a reg 30 hr job that I hate than work 40-60 hrs/week teaching others. I'll leave that to the ESTJ's. That gives me more free time for the various hobbies and things that I love. INTP's are a touch selfish, which is probably why we're often disliked (although we tend not to care, since that opens up even more freetime).
Yes, absolutely, once I am stuck on an idea or a cause, forget it......I do not follow the crowd.....ever!!! You will never out sarcasm me...I will find your weakness and turn them on you and you will never know what hit you if you piss me off enough. Justice is of the upmost importance, and fairness. I am kind to a fault and always root and help the underdog. I am a loner, I make my own path. I love my Family, I always care for them. I am the middle of the Circle.....
Here is a question for other INTP's. When trying to understand a new, complex system does it feel almost like vertigo until the last piece falls into place and then it feels like nirvana? I live for those moments.
I'm an INTP I took the test years ago. I been single for ten years. I thought I wanted to date but boy it's a struggle but I decided this will be a learning experience so I will collect data and maybe I'll find someone who can handle this INTP.
Same here i find myself so focused on my personal innerspace and that always created so much friction in my relationships to the point where i have been single for years aside from an occasional fling thats more in the moment. But as far as relationships go, im married to my intuition and intellectual ambition. The best thing out types ca do for ourselves is embrace our social abnormality and live the lives we were meant to live pursuing truth and understanding
I dont know whether i am an intp or infp.i use my logical processing to make decisions and think about how things could work and solve problems but at the same time,i cry a lot out of movie scenes.
Gates is not ENTP. Where the fuck is the extroversion? Gary Vanerchuk is much more like the ENTP businessman. Bill is INTP enneagram 5w6. Go watch the interview he does alongside Steve Jobs if you are still confused about this.
One of the categories in the brain diagram at 4:20 says, "The las [sic] 10 books that they've readed [sic]" ... I guess the person who made that graphic isn't an INTP.

i feel social when i am alone and i feel alone when i am social
Edit: It's been 2 years since i posted this comment and it seems like a lot of people have the same experience of ther inner world when socializing or trying to.
Good luck.

@@LoneQuietus very true.
I don’t know about INTP but been looking into this Myers Briggs stuff for most accurate type.
"INTPs hate rules." False. We hate /bad/ rules. If the best reason is "Because I said so" and there is a laundry list of exceptions, then yeah, we're going to challenge those so-called rules. We want /good/ rules, but we just say "truth" instead.
YES!
iIlove following rules provided i'm the one that made the rule.
Following other peoples rules will often annoy me because a lot of it will be unnecessary and time wasting.
Holy shit. This is perfect. Couldn’t agree more.
thescowlingschnauzer yes! I was thinking the same exact thing when he said that. It was very frustrating lol.
Truth.
Why is only maths and science considered so great for thinking.
what about creating music, what about developing stories and concepts, or poems which can make people cry.
It's sad that only 3% of population is like this.
Actually music is pretty related to math (many musicians are good at math)
I used to hate math (mostly because I was so lazy and I didn't bother to do anything to improve my grades) before knowing how to play bass and guitar, after practicing a lot, my grades went up and I find myself doing math problems when I need inspiration in order to create more music.
Lazar what I meant was if more people could be as to say 30 to 25 percent. You could find them easily and have a bond in that way.

Plus, I don't like rules. Especially when I view them as a waste. Most of the time at school is wasted on classroom management. You can teach a single or up to 5 children an entire day's worth of school in 2-5 hours and use the rest of the day doing other productive things.

Trond Zaphirax it irks me when people ask a question without thinking about it first

I generally think its valid to settle for "good enough" in occupation, especially with how hard it is to get a job today, and its either way not the norm to love your job. From what I usually hear of I'm lucky to have a job I can tolerate and not be constantly stressed/worn out from
We already know everything about it, but we are here to procrastinate. I bet you are.
BRUH I have a history assignment due and I’m doing this shit
Also all the slashes were added in while writing this cause I felt like it wasn’t clear enough about what I was talking about.
i just want to jump off a cliff whenever someone talks sports to me, and since everyone seems to be a normie.. its exceptionally brutal. can't escape it. lol
It’s such a complete waste of time, but ignorance is bliss.
Rather get a root canal than to go to "sports game" party.
Yes, I am an artist as well.
Ben Zagorski we have good imagination and were creative
I have a clear image of what I want to draw but when I actually do it look nowhere like what I imagine
This sounds ripped from 16personalities.com
alphamoonman thanks 😇
It is.

Pretty much verbatim.
like most people who talk about the mbti, he doesn't reall yhave an idea either... ;) just riding the wave..
I am what I am and there isn't much that I can do about it. ;-)
Notice how so many important people are/were INTPs
And then there's Ellen Page
@@Kuskoodo i love Ellen Page.
The best description video ever!!
I am an INTP. What's up my peers?
Projects, namely planning out a cake, creating a scrap dragon, and watching UA-cam for personal research. (Who am I? Random facts, and the punny side of the internet.)
I am a intp i don’t think celebrities are a waste of time, i see it quite interesting but ive concluded that the things celebrities attract aren’t the coolest things.
I prefer being along 'cause social interactions make me less connected to my inner-self which I hate the most.
Took that test over 4 times (twice on paper) over 20 years. Guilty as charged. Fortunately, I have a very patient and kind wife who keeps me grounded.
It depends on whether or not your personalty is set in some way though experiences and stimuli.
I an INTP/INFP. I know folks do not believe this exists, but I fit both perfectly and get both depending upon the version I take.
Then the tests you are taking are bogus. You can not be both.
Thank you. I never thought anyone on this planet would understand me and then you came. You've helped me understand me, lol. Infinite Blessings ❣️💞
Can you tell me why yours has the INTP as “The Thinker” other sites use:
“The Engineer”
“The Logician”
“The Thinker/Seeker”
Isn’t the MBTI a standardized test?
Yeah I agree, I hate "The Engineer" bc I think a lot of engineers are ENTJs or ISTPs
Bodhi1satva all is Right. Architect is more for the intj
dear intp friends let’s just hang out together. this would literally be like the best hangout ever lol
I’ve taken the test multiple times the past couple months and I get it every time. I guess I really am one. Cool I guess
Hey there, INTP here, just wanted to give some feedback, I really liked your video and the way you broke down the traits of my personality type, however I did find some of what you said - not to be wrong - but requiring further explanation and/or elaboration:
Lastly, I would like to offer some advice to my fellow INTPs who struggle with, as your video pointed out, our inability to handle the “good enough” perspective, since I struggled with it a lot myself:
Definitely Oblivious at all times during social situations.
Most of this I agree with but I can't read people at all.
Listening to the overview made me smile cause I've never worn a pair of shoes that fit so well.
Smiling even bigger now. My goodness.
How wholesome.
2:43 is literally the furthest thing from the truth in my case though.. That's unfortunate.
At 4:15 you begin to contradict what you say at 2:40.
What gives bro
I wanted to see intp-a because that’s me but I thought the thumbnail was memes so that’s why I clicked on this but now I’m here typing 😔✋🏼
What if your called a prostitute for zeroooo
Is it weird to continually swing between an INTJ and INTP??? like, I get INTP 50% of the time....
they are considered incredibly similar so it makes lot of sense
@@targitausrithux2320 They use opposing functions though, so in that case it makes less sense. The functions Te and Ti, as well as Fi and Fe, are complete opposites. I recommend looking into all the functions and judging your type from them. It'll be more accurate than a fallible test, where the answers can fluctuate depending on your mood and memory.
I'm an INTP and heres the thing some of this was true, but I cannot explain myself well, and I am not a scientist (I'm more history focused) and I LOVE pop-culture. Not reality tv pop-culture but literally everything else like I hyper-fixate on TV shows 24/7.
yes….I am Neo from the Matrix
hmm well I always more related to Morpheus...
I can do with "good enough" if I lack resources for something better, but I'll add something better to the "good enough" as soon as I can
so now I know what I am, and I rule at jeopardy!!! I'm paint write poetry and professional wrestling
Joshua Humes wow another wrestler intp i thought i was alone
a lot off things got explaned when I found out that I'm a INTP, a lot of my questions were answered, I feel soo much confotably with myselfh now, it's hard, cause I need people to live, but knowing why I don't fit in make me feel better than only questioning
Pretty sure I’m an INTP but I’m crap at numbers and stuff 😂
same
Hey, I'm an INTP and I like celebrities' gossip and pop culture.
I am an INTP and I am an architect.
Jedi Knight bro, you believe in the illuminate??
Yodadrinkzoda1 yes why? You don't believe it?
same here, learning programming now tho
I’m INTP. The first job career I thought of as a child was architect. I became a doctor. My passion is analyzing and designing new methods of how we work in the ER. Excuse me for my poor english.
Cool.
Yes finally people like me. I havent people like this before. Reading the comments makes me understand myself more. I am so glad I took that damn personality test. People in the comments have the exact experiences like me! Its so accurate its scary.
i d like to talk to someone intp
Here I am.
So how can we talk on youtube ?!
I bet we can just only chat.
Message me bro. Tell how old you are and where your from. Maybe we can schedule a call or something.
True homies suck each other off INTP for life
Im enfj-t and my wife's self declared an intp-t.
15 years of mental roller coaster rides.
Anyways she 'let' me show her this video, and SHE LAUGHED 5 times at each intp description humor, i guess.
She's normally a NOT laugher.
Thanks y'all
INTPs don’t do well in caring professions, so being a nurse is not a good idea
@@stephaniemitchell8509 I am a teacher and not only I like teaching a lot, but I also think I'm perfectly capable of being very caring.
You sir.... need more subs!!!!!!
Bill Gates: ENTP

Bill is INTP. You can't even read people if they're I- or E-? Wow.
One of the categories in the brain diagram at 4:20 says, "The las [sic] 10 books that they've readed [sic]" ... I guess the person who made that graphic isn't an INTP.
That good enough part hit home. I have tiold people most of my life, good enough is where you decided to quit.
