awesome! i am also rooting for a second interview. it seemed there was a pivotal moment for the action figure paul when he realized that his problem wasn't an obsession with self but the belief of there being a self (paraphrasing) and everything changed from there. i would love to put a magnifying glass to that realization and hear this stretched out in depth. thank you rick! namaste

Nice of Rick to notice Paul's ability to fluidly speak for extended periods of time.....no....no wait.....it's that Paul knows he is not the doer and as he so often admits, "something just wants to express". And I'm so glad it does. More Paul please!! Bringing Paul back after five years would be a fascinating interview. Less analysis and a lot more of just letting what wants to express through Paul do that voodoo that it does so well.

A *2.2 on the new -3 to +3 scale. Disclaimers at the end of the comment.*
*This guy is pure genius **_and_** it was a great interview, one of the very best ever !* This is the first and probably largely only interview that I watched "far back in time" on this channel because Hedderman is one of my all time favorites, and this interview shows why - again. The man is a living demonstration of awakened spontaneity and of complete absence of pretentiousness and falsity.
At 59:30 is the most genial and original explanation of what happens at death I have ever come across - and I have come across a lot. And because that enters into the field of cosmology, it earns him a 0.2 above the 2.0.
This interview is up there with my other favorites like Francis Bennett, Adyashanti, Harri Aalto, Sat Shree, the newest one with Rupert Spira, and above Daniel Ingram and Kenneth Folk.
*May we have more of this man, please !*
_About the rating: anything below and including 0 means by and large a waste of time, and anything below 0 is not only worthless but damaging to the world. For comparison, on that scale, Francis Bennett would be a +2 or more and Harri Aalto would be roughly a tentative + 2 - 2.5. Not coming up with original, independent cosmological insights bans any interviewee from > 2.0 ratings as a matter of principle._
*General Disclaimer:* the rating _pertains to an interview, not to the interviewee_. If the rating is high it means merely and exclusively that I consider the interview to be of high value relative to the stated purpose of the channel, and that it is therefore no waste of time to listen to the interview. It would _not_ imply that whatever the interviewee speaks is the truth (as if I was the arbiter over that) or that you should follow him/her or accept whatever that person offers. _That is particularly in need of emphasis if that would be an expensive enterprise_ !

Rick, the man cracks me up, always the silly Zen metaphors and quotes from the Gita, been at the spiritual practices so long now there's no way he's ever going to admit it's crap.

I would love to interview Adyashanti. I've organized for him to come to my town in a couple of weeks, and will be seeing him. But he doesn't grant many interviews, and so far, I haven't been able to arrange one. If I can, I definitely will. Thanks. Good suggestion.

Thanks for posting this video, right on! I'm a songwriter/performer and have posted a few music videos. Entire songs come through me all at once, and I just write the words down. You may enjoy "The Next Light" and "Ocean of Love". Peace and blessings, MK

If I listen to too much of this, I cannot hear much of what he is saying. But if I take a break for a while and then come back and listen again, I get a whole lot more of it the second time around. It sounds like he is saying that it's necessary to practice ignoring self referential thoughts in order to maintain a selfless state of being, or something like that. If so, then wouldn't you know it? I was hoping I could just have some kind of a mini-stroke and the part of my brain that is responsible for torturing me with self-referential thoughts would get turned off never to better me again. But no. It's not that easy.

I've had that same wish for a mini-stroke. I wonder if some day lobotomies will come back in style.

30:00 => "...as something other than you...." - he wanted to say "as something associated with you", isn´t it ?

I don´t get the joke "Zenbitchslap" in analogy to The "Clapping of one hand" koan.
Clapping is normally done in our society with both hands (although it is possible to clap with one hand => just TRY to clap your fingertips on the lower area of the same palm !!! ;-)
But if I slap someone in the face, it´s normally not done with two hands, isn´t it ???

19Marc79 The answer to the Zen koan of "What is the sound of one hand clapping" is "The sound that one hand clapping makes." Now put that into context with what Paul said and see if that doesn't make more sense to you.

Action Figure (Jersey Mafia) Paul Hedderman
    Action Figure Rick
AF Rick: What's you teaching style?
AF Paul: If someone's house is on fire I throw them a bucket a "wata"
AF Rick: What do you think the fundamental problem is?
AF Paul: It is their F'in conditioning...
    Profound stuff...and hysterical ~

Book? I linked the time 26:30 because that's where he starts to talk about AA and how recovery is what has "delivered the goods" in his life.
AA has a book, of course. It's called "Alcoholics Anonymous" or "The Big Book of AA"

AA is a cult, even if they're successful at helping you it's still a religious cult. I just lost a ton of respect for this guy after he said the "big book" is a wonderful thing. It's a book (modeled on the bible) full of unreferenced allegorical tales and huge smattering of religious terms and the term "god" is everywhere in it. It's a book they use to brainwash people, and the sponsors treat you like the lowest form of life on this earth. This poor guy is an idiot, and he's been brainwashed.
