- Welcome back to the mill!
In today's video we are sawing cedar for a customer. Cedar is becoming scarce in Western North Carolina people love sawing it, but they aren't planting any back, and it takes many decades to grow. While we were sawing, we came across a surprise in the middle of the log.
We want to give a huge shoutout to Solomon, he helps us so much editing some of the videos. Be sure to check out his channels.

Super surprising seeing those carpenter ants in that cedar. I guess they’ll get into anything.
Free housing Lol

Thx Todd, congratulations on your new mill. I hope the wait time is shorter now
Thx forwatchingandcommenting.
Nice work guys. Here in central Missouri, there is no shortage of cedar. In fact many consider it invasive and have outfits come in and cut as much as possible off their place. I run a hobby mill and cut quite a bit of cedar myself. Those carpenter ants will riddle a tree if it gets a little rot started. What looks good on the outside might not turn out so well. Catch you next time. Ed
Thx Ed we appreciate you watching and commenting and happy sawing .
Not a bad batch, for what you had to work with.Good job Thanks
Thx buddy we tried to give them back the best we could from the logs we were given.
I live in Arkansas and I have lots of cedar trees on my place.
I have a woodland mills sawmill and I remodeled my kitchen and used nothing but cedar for the walls and cabinets.
I bet that's beautiful thx for watching 👀
Are they Carpenter ants Eric and the videos are very helpful
Yes the appeared to be thx for watching Denis
I am learning I like Leland cypress for boards . It’s not got the red but it sure last good and bugs don’t get into it .
Yes I prefer Leland Cypress or Jolly green giant or dawn redwood what Cedar that's left around here is junk.
Thx for watching 👀
have yall ever sawn sassafras? i am looking for a stack

We have lots of sassafras’s in southern Ontario I’m sure it grows in Indiana or Ohio
I just posted a video yesterday of milling a cedar with carpenter ants. Frustrating.
