Given the higher rpm needed for most of these 450's on the highway, I reckon a sweet point may be that 500 to 550cc capacity, with slightly taller gearing for those longer highway stretches. That way they'll be a true commuter during the week, and a great lightweight bike for exploring their limits on the weekends. Maybe a Tenere 550 World Raid with 20L of fuel coming in at 195kg and sub $20K would be where I see myself riding in the future, and I reckon the Chinese will have something like that pretty soon...

Yeah I don't have a problem with Chinese or Indian manufacture. If you look back in history the British were the dominant manufacturer in motorcycles back in the 50's and 60's but when the Japs entered the market they were gone in a decade. This could be happening again but it's the Japanese and European manufacturers that are at risk.
The lower tanks on the 790 is a game changer I agree. Not sure why the Japs keep make banana bikes as I call them. Great size package I reckon not a believer that you need 1300CC's between your legs when going off the pavement.

@@dirtbikeadv Ha , true , Japan better step up because RE and CF Moto are building that Middle Weight Unicorn Adv bike we’ve all been wanting. As far as CF Moto goes, my confidence is high, the fit and finish of the 24 “ 790 is spot on. Ill take my chances, It will be interesting to see what happens to KTM , I highly doubt they will disappear
      Cheers !

Had the first model of the TT350 and loved it. Yes the 12v later version was a slight improvement, but the electrics were still weak, among many other issues. Technology has changed so much, it would be nice if Yamaha could make a modern TT350. Basically a WR350R. The 250's trail bikes are just a little too underpowered, and if made to perform are then too highly strung for long distance adventures. The over 600's are just too heavy for off road single track. So a 350-450 size is the sweet spot for me, but no more than 130kg. KTM350exc is nice, but too highly strung & too little oil & fuel capacity for adventure riding. KLX300 is good, but needs the 350 cylinder & larger fuel tank. CRF300 rally is ok, but could also use a 350 cylinder and better suspension. The old DRZ400 had good power & good oil capacity, but a little heavy & lacked 6th gear. The new DRZ400 is now even heavier & still lacks 6th gear.

Great video as usual Steve I do like the cfmoto450 great value for money, I currently ride a 2022 ktm690 at the age of 61 I came off it last Saturday and now sitting at home unable to work with 5 fractured ribs and fractured collarbone, and this is 4 months after I came off and hurt my ribs again, been riding since I was 15 off-road, and just like you sitting at home with plenty of time to think and look at bikes maybe I am not as good of a rider as I think I am and maybe the 690 being such a good bike it pushes me out of my comfort zone too much hence sitting here all banged up again, so maybe a cfmoto450 will slow me down a bit, this is the first I am feeling old mate.

@@jackchristodoulou197 Yeah I am a believer in riding according to my bone density ..we don't bounce anymore. I'm 59 and planning for the next ten years. I want to own and ride a twin at some stage so I'll do that sooner rather than later. Then as I head towards 70 I'll start to down size I reckon. Both the Mt450 and Himalayan look like good bikes to downsize too I reckon.

As a rider of all types of motorcycles over the last 55 years and currently riding a Kawasaki klr650 what would have been called a trail bike in the seventies and is now called a dual sport or an adventure bike which I believe has evolved from the marketing departments of motorcycle manufacturers looking for another angle for the wow factor for sales all this has flooded the market with bikes that are either far too expensive or not suitable For the supposed purpose they were invented for also even though some of these bikes are from world renowned manufacturers they are also not meeting the quality standards these same manufacturers built their names on which makes purchasing any of these new bikes an expensive mistake until they prove their reliability or purpose over a few years of use so are you willing to take the risk on poor quality at $15 to $20,000
Plus the complexity of some of these machines seems ridiculous just for a trail bike the first time you drop the bike yes that does happen with off road bikes your electronic dash could stop working and hey presto your bike won't start bummer or your traction control or power modes don't work now your. 200 hp bike only has 50 hp bigger bummer but stuck in a mud hole 200 hp is useless anyway and cause you dropped the bike in this mud hole half your electronics no longer work now that really sucks 😢 so these crop of new cheaply made very expensive poor quality dual adventure sport bikes hey maybe there's another type we can have no only joking 😮 so if you wish to buy one of these bike talk to people who have one read. All tests and reports and check every detail and don't get tucked in to all the hype and extra.cup holders and heated mirrors and junk you don't need for an adventure which you can have on any bike just saying and guess what people when your out bush adventuring or trail biking dual sporting or whatever you wish to call it you better hope you don't blow a fuse or have some other issue cause they'll probably find your parched bones or at least some of them that the animals couldn't eat or take beside your expensive 200hp triple cylinder two cup holder off roader major bummer choose wisely just saying cheers

Gas Gas “fitted” for $23K. Bargain….not.
Triumph was/is doing a deal to clear 24 stock. I just got a Tiger 900 Rally Pro in Khaki (which usually costs more than the black or red) with a Akrapovic exhaust worth $2300 pre-fitted in the pricing for $24500.
I also have a 500 set up as a light Adv. 15l tank, rear rack, larger pegs and a OEM screen ($75 bucks) and off you go.
The RE 450 is an outstanding bike. One that seems to be off people’s radar and another excellent option is the Triumph Scrambler 400X. It has options for a OEM screen (of sorts) and a rear rack. While I think the RE is the better option for range and longer distance highway legs the Scrambler may suit those who want a smaller lighter bike.
