Nathan, you really know how to pick 'em. This is a gorgeous 20-yr-old but basically new car. A bumper cover, a quick detail, and it's done. Ready to drive a few hundred thousand miles. Why buy a new sedan when you could have a pair of W140s? Get a six cylinder sedan to put miles on and a CL coupe or a V12 sedan for cruising. Or load up your driveway with W126s. Nathan has 4 of them on eBay now and all four together are like $26K. That's a better value than any one new car right there.
When I was younger my parents had a 300 D and 420 SEL. I used to think that these cars looked so plain and didnt have any luxury to them. It wasn't until I later inherited and began driving a C220 and understood how well these cars are built, their quality, and the unique drive that you simply don't experience on other brand vehicles. And now that I've sold my C and now wonder what driving those previous models must have been like.
If the wiring harness and head gasket have been done, this is one of the most solid cars I've seen on this channel. This and the Cherokee Briarwood XJ.
And one more thing, not to patronize you or anything, but i don't even know a dealer who shows this much TLC towards presenting a car that's for sale. Keep trucking man. I hope one day I have the opportunity to do business with you.
@Nathan, those little extra antennas where put in as sort of an optical alignment aid, because customers kept complaining they had no idea where the car ended while reverse parking, and MB hadn't yet developed parking sensors to implement into their cars (BMW had them first).
These W140s look so solidly built and it's great to see luxury cars like this still going strong! And I know you're in SoCal, but any idea how these handle in snow? I know these are RWD and that's typically not the drivetrain to have in snowy or slippery road conditions and many of my family members who had RWD cars learned that the hard way. I lucked out here in NJ this past winter and I'll be in Virginia next year which isn't the worst place for winter weather but it still gets cold and icy.
I think my favorite generation of s-class...I love the first 3 generations, but especially the W140...perfect compromise of power, technology and beauty design...the newer s-classes have great effieciency, extrem performance ( new S63 AMG 4,0 sec from 0 to 100 o.O) and also a good design, but the older owns just look more beautifull than newer ones. When i got older (i am only 15) i want a W140 too :). I am from germany, so it should not be difficult to get one here. Also you make great videos:D
Hi Nathan. I had a feeling I'd got a bargain! She looks and drives like a dream and the 2.8 straight six is fast enough for me. I would post a video of it on YT but I don't know how ;-) Like you, I love the S Class and also have a lovely 1983 500 SEL in thistle green but with starship miles. Thanks for making the most interesting videos on You Tube and all the best.
I've just bought an metallic red (almandine?) W140 1998 S280 with only 64k miles with FSH in exceptional original condition for £1750 which I think is quite cheap. Renault 25 is my all time number 1 but the W140 is one hell of a good car. ;-)
DUUUUDE!! You should get back your last year's camera and record your car videos with it! The low level light adjustment is freaking me out since the last HUNDREDS of videos lol! I took a long shot right there because you made the first point at 13:54 =) CHEERS!
Mine is also a 1993 300SE dual cam inline 6 but it's 2 tone White on top with the beige or grey lower paint scheme. And Grey leather interior. It has 174,000 Miles and still runs like new.
My brother used to have a RWD 1996 Infiniti J30, an ancestor of the G35, and that was terrible in snow but I know he never had snow tires. It drove great otherwise, and speaking of Infinitis, I am also big on the second-gen Q45 (97-01), which is also RWD and like the W140, is a heavy full size sedan. But would the snow tires be used all winter?
yes, both cars are absolutelly different. I just wanted to ask you because you know a lot about w140 and probably had/drove e38. I have 2 dream cars and I can't decide which one should I look for. If I go with w140 s500, could you please list common problems to look for? thanks!
Yea, I've also had a MGB-GT, Fiat Spider 124, Jaguar XJS V12 and an Alfa Romeo 164LS. But always like German cars the best. My VW Corrado G-60 was cool but I hate FWD.
...Всем владельцам MERCEDES здравия и благополучия ! Были W201, W140, четыре года на W124, 1985г.(2.0, 4 - ст.ручка, pierburg, самоблок). Я заглянул в Вечность.
Hey mate since you know these w140s so great I have been wondering if a S300 or a S320 is really enough? I mean for refinement, power etc. I have an E200cdi to put miles on so with the w140 the fuel consumption isn't really a concern for me. So should a w140 have a V8 or a V12? It's just that the 6-cylinder ones are quite a bit cheaper...
Wow, who'd you steal this car from? Nice one scoring this gem. Now days it's hard to find an S class that some kid hasn't gotten a hold of and mounted 22s and raced it everyday.

The w126 and w126 perfection in automotive history

I just saw one of those on the road today, and dear lord, it was beautiful.

It's Alcantara and what an awesome Benz!
Good question. Some Saabs had that wipers too, but I don't know if there's any modern car with that...

This one's a awesome drift luxury car, I love this SEL class, dude.
That first aid kit though, comes in handy.

Do you keep these older model S classes on your lot on a consistent basis????
my dream.. super beautiful car
Is there any cars that are still made with wipers on headlights?
Yea, I've also had a MGB-GT, Fiat Spider 124, Jaguar XJS V12 and an Alfa Romeo 164LS. But always like German cars the best. My VW Corrado G-60 was cool but I hate FWD.

Я заглянул в Вечность.
W140 = Epic. These are still in high demand.
and we learn that your home and work is very close only 8 miles:))))
are w140 engine, suspension parts relatively cheap and easy to get?
I've owned C and E class but not an S yet. Though have owned 3, 5, and 7 Series bimmers.

Very Nice!
I'd say no, but I'm not 100% sure. It's a pretty cool system anyway.
I love the W140. =)
what is more reliable - e38 740 or w140 s500?
Wow, who'd you steal this car from? Nice one scoring this gem. Now days it's hard to find an S class that some kid hasn't gotten a hold of and mounted 22s and raced it everyday.
