While uploading my new video, I found out that Bruno Sacco (the man who gave us the design for the W124, W126, W201, W140, etc) died 10 days ago. Rest in peace, legend.
As I posted a few years ago on one of the W124 forum/yt vid, he must be in haven now. The W124 is a timeless master piece of engineering that still turns head 40 years after its release. Sad that they no longer make them this way.
When a 19 year old person cares for high quality, good engineering and design in 2024 this proves that all is not lost. When this young person also understands that maintaining old cars can make more sense for the environment than producing new ones, this proves that there is hope! Thank you Arno for showing the world that the youth is not ignorant at all. Thank you for this wonderful video showcasing the W124 and thank you for showing your beautiful car.
I am 50 years old and I also daily drive a 34 year old Mercedes (W126 300SE). I worked for 13 years repairing classic Mercedes cars. It is a great pleasure for me to see a young person like you who realizes and appreciates why a car like this more superior than any newer car.
I’m of similar age to this chap, and I also, along with a surprising amount of people my age believe this. Less to go wrong, better build quality, built to last. I believe many manufacturers now make more profit on repairs in their service centres, than they do from selling their cars. I drive a 1998 Subaru Impreza, amazing build quality compared to many modern cars I’ve been in. Not a single squeak or rattle. I’d love to own a W126 500SEL one day.
I wouldn't say these old cars are superior. We shouldn't be unfair to modern engineering. Modern cars are fantastic. It's just that some of them are unreliable. Not because of bad engineering but because of other issues, such as outsourcing parts (like timing chains) from countries who don't care about quality of products or their materials are of poor quality. And all this is the result of BAD POLITICS. But they are still are good cars. They drive well enough. They're relatively safe and simple enough to be reliable.
I drive the same 33 years old Mercedes. Third owner but having it for 20 years now. Love it. Over 500 000 km but still going strong. I drove it on LNG (methane) for 17 years and now the last 3 years I equipped it with LPG (propane butane) - cheaper than petrol (benzine). I'm in Bulgaria. These Mercedeses are very appreciated and common here.
I own a 300e 1992.. I drive it everyday.. simply the best car.. my friends with their new chines cars simply can't understand how nice is to drive a mercedes from this era..
There is a feeling of perfection of new cars, however with that, the charm and character is dumbed down. An old W124/140 is just the way to feel comfortable and cozy, not luxurious by any means, you just feel good. They also still look great, those big rectangular headlights are what gives these cars their signature look. When something is new, it feels good, it feels nice, but I feel like there is a sense of pride in maintaining and looking over what you have, and that's priceless. I remember how hyped everyone was on the iPhone X, me included. The bezels, the look, the Face ID, the memojis, scalpers hoarding them, the beautiful colors you could get. 6 years later, I bought one (refurbished) to upgrade my broken phone, which I bought new for the price of this iPhone in 2024, They held value, even though outdated on the inside, the design is timeless, and the bezels make it look current time, unlike the Samsungs with the curved glass of that time, and the bezels. It is amazing, and it gives me memories from when i was a kid dreaming of having it, the P20 lite looked alike, however it wasn't it, and i knew it, but it held up like a champ. It's this sort of stuff that makes me stop and think do i REALLY need to sell and arm and a limb if it's gonna get scratched and dinged anyways? It wasn't. It still makes beautiful photos, and today i was the photographer with it! I felt proud that my phone was good enough for the job! The swans were quite pretty. my first car will be an E300Td, and I plan to keep it forever!
Greetings 19YO from a 60YO. When I started work in 1986 in UK. Our quiet spoken very senior sales manager was issued with a W124 company car. Forward 38 years - and I am driving the same car - from the UK exported here. But in Malaysia. Previously owned for 30 years by a safe driving accountant. Great cars. Mine: 1989 260E W124 saloon. In 2024 I have the S-class, G-class and E-class of 1980's vintage. The W124 is the best mix of refinement and reliability.
I have a white 220e 1993 also a manual. Bought it from the first owner and it has done 185k kms. I daily the car and love it, i am 22 years old. Love to see other people from our generation appreciating these benzes. Nice car bro!
I also daily drive a 34 year old W124 Mercedes, only mine is a 260E model. I totally agree with your review of these cars - they’re fantastic. Great video 👍
Super surprised that in your age you so clearly see, understand, appreciate everything what the W 124 is representing. You will NOT get disappointed with the attitude and understanding the importancy of maintenance. Congratulations - you could NOT buy a better car - and keep it up Sir!
I am amazed by your conciousness considering your age ….your brain is as reliable as a w124 ….also build like a tank ! The way you talk sounds almost like poetry .You must be a old soul …amazing …enjoyed this so much ……me as a owner of 9. w124 ‘s …..living in breda .👍👍
This is what UA-cam is all about. Sharing your passion and your thoughts. Love it! I make off-road content here in Australia and I made the unpopular decision to buy the most basic new vehicle on the market. It has roll up windows and no central locking. Why I like it is exactly what you said. It’s simple, built well and built to last. I will keep this vehicle forever. I have never considered purchasing a German built vehicle as they don’t have a great name here in Australia. But, your description of the W124 resonates with me and I looked up some nice examples here and found them for a reasonable price. I may buy one as a daily driver as they look really comfortable and well made compared to Australian vehicles at a similar price. This video has sparked my enthusiasm for this style of content and was exactly what I needed to see. You have a great head on your shoulders and I wish I had your maturity and deep thinking at your age. Keep it up 👍
I own a US spec 1987 300D with 29,800 original miles. These cars are so over-engineered and well built. Regarding your statement at the end about not having roller shots and doing the video content yourself - you did an amazing job here! Your narrative voice and execution of the narrating script was exceptional. I wouldn't have changed a thing! Thank you for putting out this video!
I own a 1987 300d as well. 757000 km on it after a 3000 km trip last week. An oil change today and a 1000 km trip to come Thursday. Still has the original rear brake rotors. Just runs!
never the same.... the daughter... Mercedes (daughter) might understand but her father might be confused. Dam Her or Daimler? lol I almost died in a head on collision in a 300D that the brakes never fully engaged probably from old brake fluid (small brakes vs velocity vs old fluid); parked it and gave it away but was such a cool car.... my garage is total Toyota.... 02 Tundra with the 2UZ and a Lexus ES350 with a 2GR and a Lexus LS430 with 3UZ, all Japan made! Probably my final chapter in vehicles.... I've been a fan boy of Toyo for 2+ decades.... grabbed the ES about a year ago... my first Lexus!
Great video. Great car. Great to hear a young guy appreciating superb design and build quality over superficial crap. Love your laid back delivery style too - keep up the great work and keep enjoying your piece of automotive history.
Yours reminds me of my 300E W124, also in Silver Smoke. It had the best ride of any car I’ve ever driven (I’m 65), she lived in our family until age 28, in 2015. Now I’m driving the second-best looking E-Class, an early black W211 E350, a joy, but lacking that sublime W124 ride-and in no way as durable. A brilliant video-thank you! RIP Mr. Bruno Sacco…
Bought for 1100 quid in 2004 with 160,000 miles a 1993 190d 2.5 taught all three kids to drive in it and the kids shared it between themselves, they crashed it once or twice , actually 3 times , not involving another vehicle and we bought parts from breakers yard to repair it. In 2012 it needed a load of work, discs , pads suspension arms , brake pipes etc , so I sold it at 237,000 miles for 400 pounds or 381,000 kilometers and bought a c200 for 400 pounds w202 to give to our daughter, our youngest child. I myself had two w124s and w211 , all these cars are the best of the best, the finest of the fine. Someone who has never owned one will never understand.
Dear Mercedes, please note the core brand values that were established when the W124 was built: -solidity -refinement -longevity -engineering depth -quality -residual value -class -elegance -simplicity -strength of character -ownership bond -integrity Although ARNO is correct in the sense that the W124 is fading in the passage of time as their original owners from the era are leaving this world, I hope that today's generations can appreciate how much this model meant to people all over the world, who shared solid values of character and often kept this model as a Car for a life, as proven in this story. With the current trend of shouty-sports AMG ostentatious mass-produced models, many of which are easily obtained on finance, the brand has lost some of its prestigious lustre... ARNO I salute you Sir on a great review
18:15 character... (smell of the cabin, the smell of fuel, the sound of the door closing, the click of the buttons, the steering wheel) anyone else want to contribute to the list 🤣 (great video by the way)
👍 Excellent video all around! As a recent owner of a 2006 Mercedes S350 (sadly destroyed last week in an accident), I very much appreciated your accurate and deep understanding of older Mercedes vehicles. I was starting my car replacement search but was unsure of including Mercedes on my list (watching your video has put it back on list), I weighed the possible uncertainties of older car ownership. Your very thoughtful and enjoyable video reminded me why I loved that car so much and miss it already. In addition to quality, reliability, and comfort, it truly did offer a Zen like experience. Thank you.
I can relate to your experience. I daily drive a manual transmission W124 M102 200 as well. Totally super engineered, extremely durable and reliable automobile, second to none. Thanks for this video. I'd like to share my story too someday.❤😊
Very well made video, i liked it! Its nice and satisfing to see other young people like you driving and appriciating these older cars to every detail. I am freshly 18 years old and i am driving an W124 200TE with the newer M111 Engine. The car has just passed the 450.000 kilometers with its 31 years since 1993 and its just the car i want to drive the next 100.000 kilometers. Sure, when me and my brothers baught the car and worked on it, there was a lot to do, because the last 100-150k kilometers, the car has seen no love from its owners. But when i sit in the car, drive the car and feel the car, i would never want to change it with some modern excuse of a vehicle. It might not be the most modern or fuel efficent, but the car has seen half of the world and its still smooth and fun to drive. Keep on driving and loving this baby
I absolutely love the analog gauges in this car. They are so beautiful and timeless but also very functional. I wish Mercedes would bring these physical dials back to their new vehicles instead of gluing a cheap-looking iPad to the dashboard and calling it a gauge cluster.
Agree. Less is more. I also love hearing the little analog clock ticking away (you have to be really quiet to hear it though lol). Thanks for watching!
I don’t care if this car is 100 years old or all I see is beauty magnificent well crafted and German build to last engineering. Please keep it my friend . An absolute brilliant video thank you 🙏🏻
I love my 1988 W124 - 200. I drive her daily in Johannesburg, South Africa and she makes me smile every time I drive her. She's still in amazing condition after 192,000kms and I'm her 3rd owner.
I drive a 39 year old mercedes. Great video, extremely decent music. It's refreshing seeing such quality in this increasingly trash website called youtube.
What a watch!! It is great to see someone so young with such a passion for these amazing cars - classic Benz is the way to go... Good luck with your studies, I really enjoyed how you put this video together and RIP Bruno Sacco, the man who made it all possible.
Love the video. Mine's an even older 87 230E. Acquired it March of this year and it's been a source of pain and joy at the same time. Luckily it's just eliminating rust issues from clogged drain ports and minor mechanical stuff. Having hard starting issues among the almost-done aesthetics. But everytime I drive it... Only people who know will understand.
I also drive W124 E 300 diesel. You are absolutely correct on your take. Excellent video and so true. Keep up the good work. These cars are still to this age way ahead in durability and performance. Very honestly built to last.
I'm 34 years old, I found this video very interesting because you're much younger, let me explain. I live in a country where average car is 10 years old. When I was a kid - most cars were 20-25 year old. Meaning that in 1998-2000 - many cars rolling around were made in 1980-1990. I remember riding in w123 and had countless rides with my classmate's dad in w124. Many cars from that era were made to last with totally different quality in mind. I remember w124 vault like doors, silence and comfort (as well as interior smell). So what I'm saying - I grew up with these old cars, even Japanese cars like Toyota Carina or Mazda 626 were built differently, but my perspective, my experience, my memories are built on that. You, on the other hand probably had most experience with cars from 2010's and feeling old Merc is way different experience itself. And the way you discover this car, it's feeling - is unique in it's own way. That was the most interesting thing for me. And I feel like way more people should feel that old luxury/quality to understand what cars were all about. On the other hand - most smartphone addicted and safety tech reliant people couldn't live with car like w124. They need screens, cameras, auto-braking and Shrek streaming in their virtual cockpit. I would gladly drive w124 daily, especially with om606 only if they wouldn't rust. Because our winters would kill poor thing in couple years.
Nieuwe veringen, compleet nieuwe rempaketten, leidingen.
I was a terrible wreck in Mercedes Benz and the only reason im alive is due to the engineering that Mercedes puts into their vehicles. Beautiful car man 👍
Really impressed with this video, this young chap shows that not all new drivers want the latest PCP new car, i too like the older Merc's, we know they went wrong in the late 90's to early 00's, and that has damaged them. But this era is just beautiful. Great work.
Im driving a 2000 C230 Kompressor sedan - the last year for the W202 C class (first generation). I bought this car for $3000 with 15k miles on the odometer (U.S.) . While its nit an E class, I nevertheless can feel the quality that was baked into every Mercedes of that era. I get admiring lioks from people of all walks, including many who are driving much newer Mercedes models. I love the solidity and, especially, the simplicity of the car. I don't think I'll ever let it go! Great video.
I am an 44 Years old ,and for a fiew Monts i have buyed an 220 E W124 from 1993 vor my 19 years old Sohn and he is very exeited to drive the car wen he koming Home from the school ST the end of the week . He make At Thies Time the Driving School .I wish you Luck with your Car ,very nice video reprezentaition from dis Car .Sor for my English😅
Great car, video, production and messages. When I was a kid in the 80s my parents had a 230TE (124) which had the same design language as this car. Your video brought back many fine memories for me. And you are ahead of the crowd because you recognise the importance of quality over quantity.
I'm glad that people of my generation are still interested in old cars and understand that as great as a Tesla might seem to some, it isn't a fit-all solution for the whole world. I have a 2000 SLK 230K which I've driven daily for about 4 years and I was lucky enough to be able to buy a slightly newer car last year - a BMW E63 650i - and even these two cars have some sort of character that you cannot find in modern cars. I've been around cars my whole, my family had some really cool 90s and early 2000s cars and when I compare my experiences from those to what cars past the 2010s feel like it's actually kind of crazy. They've become easy to operate for the masses at the expense of character. Even my late grandad's 1.1L Fiat Punto has something that's just missing in new cars. Then you compare what we have today to a car like the W124 that was amongst the best of it's time and you immediately want to go back. BTW: You don't need to apologize for not having a pro set-up. I think we all understand that you're a small UA-camr doing the best you can with what you have available. Cheers from the Czech Republic
I went in the other direction: I have a 2003 E39 530i, 1999 528iT and 2001 e46 330i. The e46 330i is 'mint'. The other two, I would judge as very good condition.
This is great, both in terms of production and in terms of the message! When I was a kid, my dad had a W123 when Mercedes had a completely different image compared to today. Back then, Mercedes was about reliability and understated luxury and design. It's great to see a young guy figure that out and prefer an older car =)
Arno, you've made me very happy. In just a few minutes, you've captured the all Mercedes philosophy and the quality of its engineers and technicians. May you prosper and always have a happy star (not only) on the bonnet of your car.👍
Interesting video - thanks. The 124 was Mercedes’ centenary car and a Sacco masterpiece. I had a 230E in Padget red with cream/beige interior, 4 speed auto with sunroof. Fantastic car and wonderful to see one getting the attention it deserves! Fun fact: many people think the panels are made of thicker steel than used in other cars. Bruno explain how he designed all the body crease stampings to have a radius suited to steel two grades thicker than they were using - this gives visual solidity. It’s a good choice and enjoy it!
Thank you for the video! I agree with everything. In Sweden I have one w124 300D (a little rusty) for the winter and one completely rustfree s124 200TD for the summer. And of course 1 or 2 donor cars behind the barn 😅
Glad my video is reaching people from all over the world. Visiting Finland (countryside) is on my bucket list. Thank you for the kind words and for watching! :)
it's great to see see one your age who understands the quality of these wonderful w124s. There will never be cars built like this again, and I wouldn't trade either of my own w124 cars for any new mercedes.
Ha great video...I pic the same cars you did ...and I want too find one of these here in the US ....don't want the 500 too many gimmicks that break....love the one your driving...very cool coming from the USA...I liked and subscribed
Mate, I had this exact same idea of a video for my old 1994 BMW E36, which purrs like a kitten still to this day. Really nice job and as others have said - Its really nice to see a youngster like yourself with deep understanding on the fundamentals of using an maintaining an old car in the modern age. These machines, if maintained - were indeed designed to last for centuries, compared to newer expensive cars full of electronics and documented ridiculous defects after just 100k kms. Really enjoyed your video. There really is hope.
I absolutely adore my w124. It’s such a sweetheart- own several newer, fast (MUCH faster), more practical cars, etc., but my w124 just has a place in my heart, it’s such an endearing machine to own, drive, and live with. 124❤
Congratulations on receiving your driver's license. Enjoy the W124, I have a 95 E320 Sedan and I totally agree with you with all your points. Great video!
Arno thank you, thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish. It seems we, other W124 owners can only truly understand the deep joy of ownership these wonderful beasts bring. They truly are worthy of proper care and preventative maintenance despite the costs that may be incurred from time to time. Every theme of discussion you raised we all universally get, I think is safe to say. I inherited my ‘89 M103 Smoke Silver sedan nearly 25 years ago and she remains in excellent condition nearing 335km of predominately rural driving. At 62 I’m anticipating enjoying her for another 25 years, parts and skills supply willing. Although I daily a Landrover Discovery 4 ‘The Benz’ is the one I love. Enjoy. Australia
Excellent video. You have good taste. I've been addicted to Mercedes for 15 years and have had all the classics, from SLK R170s to CLKs, C Class, and E Class. Good luck with getting your licence!
I've driven a dozen of these 124 cars, in coupe, sedan and combi. Best versions, imho, are the 5 cylinder early model 250D (slow but economic 17km per liter), great long distance car. And the later E320 6 cylinder, which is a much more solid car than the earlier models, sturdier suspension but still comfortable, performant and is the sweet spot for me (but less economic at 8km per liter). But even better than the 124 is the 126. Even the 260 SE, while not a V8, is very drivable and relatively light. It will go whereever you point it at. I love the Bruno Sacco period.
I love my w124 m104 engine, I got it from auction for 500$ with 167k miles now it save 200k , I started to restore it only because of lack maintenance that was before owning it , it was abused but still driving. Great car
Wow! This is beautifully filmed and you can tell it was done with love and dedication. Everything you say is spot on. I can't believe you're only 19 years old! Crazy what's possible these days on a budget. 25 years ago, when I was your age it would have taken ridiculous expensive professional movie cameras, equipment and lots of experience to achieve these kind of aesthetics. Greetings from a fellow 1990 200E daily driver from Germany.
Congratulations on the car!! looks stunning! I'm 25 now, and my daily driver is a 190d 2.5, and has been for a while. Won't ever sell it. it just works and does everything a driver could possibly need whilst having better build quality than any other new car. It's my second 190d, only sold the first one to get a better specimen of a w201. They are just well engineered, and if kept good, they will always run. Always hated the excessive tech gimmicks new cars have too...
Great video! , and great perspectives about modern cars and their disconnected drivers! Im so fed up by weekly being in the kill zone of swerving Tesla Model S et cetera, because their drivers have taken the day of while the cars are in autopilot! Have always wanted a manual petrol E-klass sedan or station wagon of this era, now I want one even more! Thanks for your time and effort spent making this video, the talent is evident👍🤟
Great video. Thanks for posting it. You have nothing to apologise for. Love your car and attitude. Watched this as I have a 190 D itch yet to be scratched.
That is an amazing car, my advice is never sell it, that will be a gem of a classic 15-20 years from now if well preserved. In case of engine failure, they are easy to find and even fix. And it looks badass...
I had a 190e with a 2.0 litre engine and twin exhausts. That’s all I know about the spec. A great car and like you said maybe not the strongest acceleration but once it was going went round corners really well!! Enjoyed the video 👍
Beautiful car and an excellent video. Time to time i still see W124 Mercedeses in the traffic, i am not a Mercedes guy but you gotta respect these old benzes, hopefully you are going to enjoy yours for a long time to come
I love your post. I myself have a W124 300D from 1985 and it is magnificent. Back then, quality was the first priority at Meredes-Benz and in the German car industry in general. In the 90s, manufacturers got busy cutting costs - and this produced some significantly worse cars. I agree with you that cars today are not primarily about durability, but about IT featuers, where the goal is for us to buy new cars all the time. Your W124 is from a better time, with better cars.
Awesome video. I drive a signal red 1993 300E 2.8 m104. I drive roughly 9000 miles per year. Most reliable car I’ve owned. I’m at 240k miles and drive all 4 seasons , rain sleet or snow. I keep it oil sprayed and maintained. At the end of the day I know I’ll always enjoy my ride home no matter what happened that day. Keep it going!
Excellent story, Arno. It is easily seen how much you cherish and love this beautiful example of a W124. Mercedes-Benz got it right with these cars. The classic styling (beyond W211) has been totally lost on modern models. Bruno Sacco was a genius, no doubt about it.
While uploading my new video, I found out that Bruno Sacco (the man who gave us the design for the W124, W126, W201, W140, etc) died 10 days ago. Rest in peace, legend.
Damn he was a great designer. I had a W124 and now about to get an R230
R.I.P. Bruno Sacco. R107 is my favourite.
These cars look and feel like carved straight out of granite. Yup, I also saw MMWA mention the sad news. R.I.P. Bruno Sacco.
R.I.P Bruno, supremely talented designer.
As I posted a few years ago on one of the W124 forum/yt vid, he must be in haven now. The W124 is a timeless master piece of engineering that still turns head 40 years after its release. Sad that they no longer make them this way.

Thank you Arno for showing the world that the youth is not ignorant at all.
Thank you for this wonderful video showcasing the W124 and thank you for showing your beautiful car.
Exactly my thoughts on this.
I second your opinion of this young man.
They are definitely way more well made.
I am 50 years old and I also daily drive a 34 year old Mercedes (W126 300SE). I worked for 13 years repairing classic Mercedes cars. It is a great pleasure for me to see a young person like you who realizes and appreciates why a car like this more superior than any newer car.

Mercedes Source? Is that you?? 🤣🌚
@@nadk8886😆 No man, he is 72
@@hollandibolygo9172 🤣🤣🤣
I drive the same 33 years old Mercedes. Third owner but having it for 20 years now. Love it. Over 500 000 km but still going strong. I drove it on LNG (methane) for 17 years and now the last 3 years I equipped it with LPG (propane butane) - cheaper than petrol (benzine). I'm in Bulgaria. These Mercedeses are very appreciated and common here.
Dang 500km I’m going to look for one for me 😂
I own a 300e 1992.. I drive it everyday.. simply the best car.. my friends with their new chines cars simply can't understand how nice is to drive a mercedes from this era..
It's a wonderful experience. Thanks for watching!!
I had a 90 300e 4matic. Best car i ever had. I traded it in 2003 on a Grand Cherokee Can u believe it? I should be put in jail. 😢😢 25:40
Why you drive a 30 yo Mercedes? Because you’re right!
Based
I have a white 220e 1993 also a manual.
This was Mercedes' golden age. Enjoy it while you still can! Thank you so much for watching :)
@@ArnoLouwagie It absolutely was in their golden age, and sadly not to be repeated either. Keep up the good work 👍
Yeah - mine too! 260E 1989 auto. Beautiful original maroon metallic red. Just turned 35 - and so now registered as a classic car.
Super surprised that in your age you so clearly see, understand, appreciate everything what the W 124 is representing. You will NOT get disappointed with the attitude and understanding the importancy of maintenance. Congratulations - you could NOT buy a better car - and keep it up Sir!
Yes he could... A 126 🤣🤣
I am amazed by your conciousness considering your age ….your brain is as reliable as a w124 ….also build like a tank ! The way you talk sounds almost like poetry .You must be a old soul …amazing …enjoyed this so much ……me as a owner of 9. w124 ‘s …..living in breda .👍👍
Thank you for your kind words, buurman :)
Just runs!
Mercedes will never be the same. I agree with you and I want to thank you for your love for this beautiful car.
never the same.... the daughter... Mercedes (daughter) might understand but her father might be confused. Dam Her or Daimler? lol
I almost died in a head on collision in a 300D that the brakes never fully engaged probably from old brake fluid (small brakes vs velocity vs old fluid); parked it and gave it away but was such a cool car.... my garage is total Toyota....
Great comment😎
Thank you very, very much!
I don't own a Merc but I enjoy your review. You'll go far, young man!
Dear Mercedes, please note the core brand values that were established when the W124 was built:
-solidity
-refinement
-longevity
-engineering depth
-quality
-residual value
-class
-elegance
-simplicity
-strength of character
-ownership bond
-integrity
Although ARNO is correct in the sense that the W124 is fading in the passage of time as their original owners from the era are leaving this world, I hope that today's generations can appreciate how much this model meant to people all over the world, who shared solid values of character and often kept this model as a Car for a life, as proven in this story.
With the current trend of shouty-sports AMG ostentatious mass-produced models, many of which are easily obtained on finance, the brand has lost some of its prestigious lustre...
ARNO I salute you Sir on a great review
18:15 character... (smell of the cabin, the smell of fuel, the sound of the door closing, the click of the buttons, the steering wheel) anyone else want to contribute to the list 🤣 (great video by the way)
How about the inevitable leak in the evaporator - 20 hour job to pull the dash to replace it?
@@twntwrsIs this issue on all the W124 sedan models?
Damn the cinematography really impressed me and caught my eye.
I am fascinated by th w123, but this video has put the w124 on my radar as well.
What a watch!! It is great to see someone so young with such a passion for these amazing cars - classic Benz is the way to go... Good luck with your studies, I really enjoyed how you put this video together and RIP Bruno Sacco, the man who made it all possible.
That means a lot to me, thank you very very much! And yes, I heard about his death as I was uploading this video. Rest in peace, Bruno. :(
Love the video.
Appreciated bro, you have covered every aspect of this legend W124. Salute to your thoughts, passion.
This video is so extraordinary, its not only about a car, its about feelings. Thank you.
I also drive W124 E 300 diesel. You are absolutely correct on your take. Excellent video and so true. Keep up the good work. These cars are still to this age way ahead in durability and performance. Very honestly built to last.
The 300D is a great, great car.
Great, great, great cars. Thanks for watching! :)
Because our winters would kill poor thing in couple years.
i saw a w124 being crushed by a plastic 600cm3 car. i cant understand how that happened. but the 124 was direct to the scrapyard.
Hallo Arno,
Nieuwe veringen, compleet nieuwe rempaketten, leidingen.
I was a terrible wreck in Mercedes Benz and the only reason im alive is due to the engineering that Mercedes puts into their vehicles. Beautiful car man 👍
What hit you? A Smart?
I really appreciate the good and proper English you speak. Thanks for the video. The content is brilliant and self explanatory:)
Great video young man! I love your knowledge and respect for your Mercedes! 💯🐟
One of the better reviews that I've seen! I'm 100% honest.
Een van de leukste W124 video’s die ik zag! Veel herkenbare dingen en mooi gefilmd! Keep them on the road. 😎
Dingen die enkel een W124 rijder verstaat hahaha
Bedankt voor het kijken en de leuke comment! :)
good job keeping this legend alive
Drove this car as a taxi driver and loved it. I agree, an absolutely incredible car in design, comfort and reliability.
Mercedes-Benz W124 300E the legend ❤
I’ve been a taxi driver in the weekends when i was 19years old. Amazing cars which easily can handle more than a million km’s.
Beautiful.
I daily a renntech modified 39 year old W201, cheers brother!
Such an authentic, sincere and down to earth video. Best regards from Finland!
I‘m 19 and drive a 30 year old W202. I love it
Congratulations on receiving your driver's license. Enjoy the W124, I have a 95 E320 Sedan and I totally agree with you with all your points. Great video!
Such a fine video, and you're right on just about everything. Congrats mate👏👏👏
Great report. I drive a 124 myself and I can approve everything you mentioned.
I'm owning W124 230E 1992 already a five years! This is a true masterpiece indeed!
Good luck with getting your licence!
great job.
You have done beautiful work on your beautiful car. I am very impressed that someone just 19 years old has such high class.
Excellent video for an Excellent Car.
Not only do you have a great car - with your technical knowledge, you have great career at your fingertips.
I love my w124 m104 engine, I got it from auction for 500$ with 167k miles now it save 200k , I started to restore it only because of lack maintenance that was before owning it , it was abused but still driving. Great car
Loved my c202. First of the baby v8s m112 engines. Solid car.
Loved it and learned to work on cars with this bad boy.
Could easily go anywhere in it.
No wonder all other brands aimed for this level of quality back then.
I understand why you love it. 💯
Awesome video, I really love Mercedes cars. My first car was a W202 220D. You make me want to buy a w124 now.. haha.
I own a W210 E430 and a W211 E55 and I love both of them and will never get rid of them.
A truly excellent video by a guy who really appreciates cars. Exceptional. Lyrical. Almost poetic. The work was worth it.
It's ridiculous. It seems like they have the attention span of a gold fish lol. Thanks for your kind words! :)
Very nice video. Also, nice too see young people enjoy and appreciate classic cars 👍🏻
I grew up in a 230E and keep a picture of it in my '91 260E ❤
I’ve been on this kick of seriously buying a classic Mercedes these kinds of videos just keep feeding that urge! Lol
I love how you uploaded this 2 days after I bought this exact model (only 3 years younger) myself
R129 300SL owner here, and all I can say is, you’re right
Timeless Baby Benz was also our favourite daily in the 1990s in Indonesia
Thank you and greetings from Cologne in Germany. Michael
I had a 190e with a 2.0 litre engine and twin exhausts. That’s all I know about the spec. A great car and like you said maybe not the strongest acceleration but once it was going went round corners really well!! Enjoyed the video 👍
A W124 300E was the first Merc I ever got in...I was 8 years old! Love these tanks!
Thanks for the video! 😁👍🏻
I love the simplicity and build quality of these cars. I love them so much that I'm going to see a 280E which I'm planning to buy.
I owned a 76 Porsche and a late model Mercedes will be my next. I agree with everything you said. Congrats! Enjoy her.
Beautiful car and an excellent video. Time to time i still see W124 Mercedeses in the traffic, i am not a Mercedes guy but you gotta respect these old benzes, hopefully you are going to enjoy yours for a long time to come
Incredible video, genuine passion and insight, keep it up
I love your post.
Awesome video, man!
Bruno Sacco and the „old“ Mercedes engineers would be touched by this. Long live W124 and W123!!
23:56 Great video. There is no reason to apologize.
