This is a Very Nice W140 S320 car and I have been driving it around for the pst few weeks and I really hate selling some of these This is the W140 at its Finest 1999 Last Year model I have 6 of these W140 Cars in Stock. This car is super clean and runs great. These Straight 6 cars get really good gas mileage. These are one of the best driving cars around. Inside and out this car is as clean as can be. ;-)

If you want a big Benz, this is the one to have. Last of the W140 series in '99, they sorted out any and all bugs by then. Great cars. 200k miles? Easy. 300k miles? No sweat. Some have gone close to a million miles in limo/hire car service. Key things to do are maintain the oil (engine and diff) and keep on top of fluid changes. Sensors can go on them, but are fairly easy to fix. Best of the bunch, and CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP now!
Are they reliable? I hear that are prone to blowing a head gasket.

Is the w140 the best car ever made? Mercedes did put a billion into designing this car..It is my favorite car design as well as favorite car for durability...
Agree with the best car bit. I really seriously want to have one of these with a rebuilt transmission, engine, and reconditioned black interior. These, along with the E39 BMW, are the most classic cars off this era.
hmmm i thought the W140 was just produced to September 1998 and in 1999 the W220 started...dont know, but this W140 looks great and what you said at the beginning is right: the W140 is against many opinion a relative economic car, the fuel consumption is really good for his heavy size and powerfull engines, inter alia because of its low air resistance (CW is about 0,30) :D all in all great video about a great car :)
I love all your w140 videos, i finally got mine last April S320L. My dream came thru owning one. Now i'm slowly keep it up to it's former glory.
Are they reliable, or a money pitt?
@@JohnTaylor-bd1uy if at the onset you maintain them early, they will outlast you. Even if you buy second hand with very good service history it will outlast you. It is that good, those days Merc's were built to last a lifetime, w140 were the last of that bunch. It's not a money pit, really once every parts are taken care they will lasts a long time just a mere servicing oil changes etc will keep it running reliably.
@@devourredd I heard that they are notorious for blowing head gaskets.
@Asherrzzx_ I know a guy selling a pearl white one right now for 4000k it has 93,000 miles, and is in mint condition inside and out. Everything works great, just needs tires. That is it! What do you think, does that sound like a good deal?
@@JohnTaylor-bd1uy mine got valve cover replaced after leaking engine oil, when i bought it back in 2021 S320L, it already 289k kilometres around 180k miles. I'm not so sure about blown head gasket those m104 are reliable when taken care of and robust.

I prefer the later ones too. I love the clear turn signal lenses! All this car is missing is tinted windows.
Look at that engine again Nathan. The engine in that car is not a V6 but a straight 6.

I wish fuel was cheaper but at £1.16 here... They must be so smooth and with the double glazing!! That looks like new under that wheel arch no rust!!

i am soooooo in love with the big body benz.how is the upkeep on one of these joints financially.would it still cost a grip to get fixed because its a benz? would it cost a grip to fix etc because the parts would be hard to get? i would imagine this car wouldnt cost as much as it used to

Overall reliability on scale of 1-10? Compare to other Japanese cars like Lexus would be interesting, I had one but an E Class, loved it, minimal repairs until my wife totaled it :)

If you are still looking for one if these, get a 96-99 with 722.6 transmission and updated harness from factory. Those two combo will never have issues for decades and will be very easy in the pocket even for college student. Right now the issue might be the price of gas and this cars do 17 city at best and usually less due to age even tho M104 engine adjust for wear and tear with age and tries it's best to give out the best performance factoring that in. Well engineered engine comparable to 2JZ

how is the maintenance cost of one of these per year? Are these thing are reliable? I drive a lot and I like these big executive sedans but I am a young entrepreneur and I don't want to buy a money pit since I need my money to start of my own business

Just in the description. Easy mistake on this though, since Mercedes also used a 3.2 V6 that year, just not in the S-Class. Looks great tho.......
