Dr. Chang said so clearly that he is American, considering his parents are China born Chinese, and it is Taiwanness government that gave him the chance and provided him with everything to shine and become a legend in Semi conductor industry. Thus I am disappointed for how he only identified himself as American without an iota of appreciation of his Chinese heritage and Taiwanese government then. Two decades ago, the Taiwanese government's education reform ditched the old vocational education model and moved to the academic university model, producing hundreds and thousands of underqualified graduates who didn't know how to do their jobs properly upon graduation. This competitive edge that Mr. Morrison Chang was referring to has gradually faded out, posing a huge challenge for Taiwan's high-tech industry these days.

2 decades ago, Taiwanese government reformed the outdated eduction system and more people can go to universities to enjoy the equal opportunities in higher education. Through this way, Taiwan produced hundreds of thousands qualified graduates and well educated people. This is why Taiwan is very competitive in high-tech industry in the world these days.

I think the biggest challenge for Taiwan's high tech industry is the US is trying to take the TSMC root out of Taiwan to the US. The factory, the engineers, and the IPs. It's happening fast. Intel's factory is right next door in Arizona, with a much higher pay and better living conditions. Guess what will happen in the next 3 years after TSMC trained the locals? It's never a good deal forced to move your factory and core people to another country.

@@MissAwa515 NOT A GOOD IDEA AT ALL, I AM TOTALLY AGREED. Do you believe that Taiwan looks to hire as many as 100000 Indian workers to work in the factories and other services ? This is also very bad idea, there are many local people need those jobs, why don't the Taiwanese companies hire the Mainland Chinese if they couldn't find the local Taiwanese to work.

The Chinese government and the private sector should work towards impoverishing Taiwan, making it lose its capital and capabilities for independence, as well as its ability to form alliances with other countries. The top priority is to target Taiwan's semiconductor industry, as efforts against other industries would be in vain. Taiwan's vulnerability lies in its semiconductor industry. The Chinese government should prohibit any form of collaboration between Chinese companies and Taiwanese semiconductor companies. Furthermore, the Chinese public should form a consensus that any product containing chips produced or designed in Taiwan should be completely boycotted.
