Dr. Kang repeated Chinese overcapacity propaganda without a second thought, 87%+ Korea's automobile productions are exports, that number for China is around 6%, meaning the overwhelming majority of Chinese production is for domestic auto market while Korea is the opposite, if overcapacity is a real problem South Korea should be the 1st one on the list to get whacked. she better not complain when there are 100% tariffs against Korean cars.

To US and the gangs, be it Korea or Germany, that was called 'efficient capacity' while the same was called 'over capacity' when come to China.

You beat me to the crunch. I was about to say the same thing. Unbelievable these people. You can't talk to these people. They don't use reason, facts or logic.
They just invent their own narratives and act like it's the truth.

Thank you for your comment. Having read your comment, has made decided not to watch this video. I do not have time to hear propaganda nor to entertain people who are so brainwashed and unable to think for themselves like that Kang Kyung-wha - she must have bought her PhD because after so many years of learning, and reading, her brain is still not functioning. Again thank you.

I think there are some truth there, but maybe not related? There are reports and also local complains in weibo and douyin (taken down) that shows fields and fields of unsold electric cars in a car graveyard. You can still find the posts, using more creative keywords.

@@mikechiam2032 If you have to look for one specific case to extrapolate it to the entirety of a country of 1.4 billion people, you already lost the argument. Also i know exactly what you are talking about, its a debunked right wing propaganda originated from ASPI (US state department funded anti-China org in Australia), photos of a car junkyard in Hangzhou, news flash, such used car junkyards are literally in every country every city.
Ppl like you are the exact reason why I support the Great Firewall, too susceptible to propaganda and will easily repeat such simple logic defying talking points, the US is waging an economic and propaganda war on China and they are counting on naive ppl like you to destabilize China so the US can forever remain the sole global hegemon.

The three short months Dr, Kang has shown her extraordinary leadership in organizing much better events and bringing more knowledgeable and balanced speakers. The Geopolitical issues started all because of the Anglo Saxon issues. All Anglo Saxons listen to their King/Queen, if the new UK King hates China, the whole of Anglo Saxon countries like Canada, US, Australia, New Zealand and East India companies will attack China, either with mainstream media/social media or dividing China’s allies to revolt. All these issues have to do with Charles, the deep problem Anglo Saxons aggression.

Those differences led China and the US to grow ever further apart
Reason 1: There's no slaughter, loot and genocide against ethnic minorities in China, the 'I Can't Breathe' incident never happened in China.
Reason 2: China does not allow 1% of the population to own more than 90% of the population's total wealth.
Reason 3: China does not allow its people to die in mass shootings, let alone let school children get massacred by guns.
Reason 4: China does not allow the drug problem to plague the country and kill more than 100,000 people every year.
Reason 5: China has never invaded other countries or engaged in colonial expansion.
Reason 6: China never interferes in the internal affairs of other countries, and never seeks and fosters agents abroad.
Reason 7: China has never based its foreign policies on 'cheating, lying and stealing', unlike the US China sees such motto is shame, not pride.
Reason 8: China has never sought to dominate the world, nor deprived any country (region) of its right of development. On the contrary, China shares development and prosperity with all trading partners.
Reason 9: China will never do anything to weaken or eliminate an opponent in order to win. Instead, China is focused on bettering itself.
Reason 10: China never fires missiles at wandering balloons, but heavily invests in better infrastructures so Chinese people can enjoy better life, safety and health.

"In our society today there is not enough of the feminine instinct, to see each for what it is and to help that person to interact with another person for what he/she is. The Mother cares for all."
Refreshing to hear this. Something I have thought about my whole adult life. The feminine is missing from American politics and political power structure and whenever it gets introduced, there is a huge backlash, not just against the feminine aspect as "weak,' but against women themselves. I hope I live long enough to see this change and all will be respected and sustained, whatever our gifts and talents.

It's easy to build bridges that anyone can pass on or to not build any bridges. It's much harder and more important -- more helpful -- to build bridges that have ethical check points, based on mutual (international) agreement, for both parties that pass by.
This ensures there is mutual respect, consistent, transparent and consultative relationships, not just with those who have the power to build bridges (or destroy them), yet also for the many people who pass over them and for whom are affected by the decisions of the powerful.

China's economic success is at the heart of why the West has always feared and hated "communism"...even w/ a Chinese character. Capitalism (privately owned bus. and industries) cannot compete with industries and resources that are well managed by the central authority of a nation-state who have access to the collective contributions of their population. This is what capitalist have always understood, and now insert terms like "overcapacity" into the lexicon to divert from having to explain capitalisms failure to compete in the free market. It reminds me how they invented the term "whataboutism" to divert from having to justify brazenly hypocritical positions.

As George has rightly said, China’s competitiveness relies on an internal market. In this case, why should we in Asia be so concerned about Western custom duties and import tariffs? No need to export to the U.S. We in Asia should “buy made in China and Asia”.

Could George comment on the recent fiasco on cooking oil in China, where his employer (former?) also owns Yihai Kerry, who has about 50% market share in cooking oil market in China.
If he thinks that the CCP is so great in managing its country, perhaps he, as a former minister, would like to suggest to Singapore government to adopt China’s system of managing the country, especially in the food and drug regulation.

Re the first audience’s question on US gov as a protector of human rights in South East Asia, you got to be joking. First of all, the US gov got no rights to talk about human rights. Are you so naive that you still believe that the US politicians care about anyone else other than their own political and economic interest? Look at how US politicians are supporting and funding Israel’s genocide on Palestineans, do you need further elaboration here? Secondly, US is a troublemaker everywhere they set foot on, including their very own soil which they conveniently robbed from the red indians. South East Asia, and the world would be in greater peace without US

The competition between China and the United States is welcome if the extreme risks can be properly managed. Mencius said that should there not be any enemy states and foreign aggression from outside the country, the country often perishes. If we look back at history, the period of the Cold War coincided with the fastest scientific and technological development of the United States and the Soviet Union, as well as the fastest improvement in people's living standards.

interesting note, that George mentioned multiple times that the west don't understand Chinese and Chinese people. This is true, but a more important issue is that the formation of taiwanese is chinese, and the west apparently have no idea of them too. chinses culture is not like russian/ukrainian, if the situation escalated, there will be guaranteed most taiwanese wont fight

:You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit...[will become a pile on the heap of history].* Therefore by their fruits you will know them."--Jesus Chris, the Palestinian Nazarene of Galilee Matthew 7:15-20😢😢

Today Chinese are the world biggest Christian people group:
Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Malaysia were said to have the fastest-growing Christian communities and the majority of the new believers are "upwardly mobile, urban, middle-class Chinese".
    World Christian population:
    1 USA 246,790,000
    2 Brazil 175,700,000
    3 Mexico 107,780,000
    4 Russia 105,220,000
    5. China 234,000,000 (including home church) (God use thousands of Korean Christians missionaries sharing the Gospel to the mainland Chinese).

Why is it that even the most educated of overseas born Chinese still can't appreciate the different governance systems they have grown up with?? Don't think any of them would freely give up the freedom they enjoy now. So why would they support it for the Chinese people under the cccp? Is it all about the economic power of cccp which is actually the power of the industrious Chinese people not the government of the elites.

George Yeo seems like a lovely guy, a spiritual man, and he tries to take a larger perspective on things, but his views are misguided and rather naive. He even comes across as quite the apologist for the CCP.
Just because the Chinese population has been ruled over by dynastic totalitarian dictatorships for its entire history doesn't mean that is therefore the logical and natural cultural fit for China now and going forward. It doesn't excuse away the blatant abuses and unchecked power of dictatorships such as the CCP especially in the form in which it exists today.
It's a conveniently reassuring excuse for inaction, be it in international politics or in interpersonal relationships, to say, in a measured and considered voice, that striving for change and wanting to rein in a bully is born of arrogance and a lack of understanding of the other party. More practical and wise to side with the bully.
We all live in this same world and it's good to share ideas on forums such as these, on how we can make the situation better, but Mr Yeo hardly seems to offer any insight other than 'we should not interfere', let the Chinese government do its thing.
The CCP, with their 'might is right' approach would love for everyone to take Mr Yeo's approach that we should simply get out of the juggernaut's path of destruction regardless of how much they cheat and colour outside the lines.
