I’m a nurse and I’ve been dealing with COVID since the pandemic started, normally I have oily skin and I used to have pimples from time to time, but since the pandemic started my face has gotten terrible, awful, so many pimples, red, inflamed, pus, initially they itch, I bought a silk mask to put under the surgical mask at work, now my face is not itching anymore but it still feels so sensitive and the pimples don’t go away,

When wearing a reusable mask, please keep the following in mind:
Keep your fingers off of your face.
Wear the mask only for one day, then:
Cook the mask. Yes, you read that right. Cook it in water on the stove for five minutes. When it is dry, steam iron it.
If you need to wear a mask all day long, make sure to change your mask every 3 or 4 hours.
    Happy Christmas from Germany 🎄

Love this video! I broke out so bad with maskne, it was unbelievable. I had to go to my derm several times to get it under control. Wearing the right mask absolutely makes a difference. I was wearing the procedural masks before and I think the synthetic fibers clogged my pores. Wearing cotton, breathable masks made a world of difference.

brooke elle I’ve done research before purchasing mine and from what I read silk is actually the most effective at preventing the penetration of droplets, and the least absorptive of water, because of its intensely hydrophobic character compared to the other fabrics tested! U can research yourself of course and see what works for you :) highly recommend for reactive skin it’s helped me a ton the less friction the better!

Super informative video!! As a nurse I’ve unfortunately developed maskne. This has been very discouraging since I’ve never had big skin issues before. But with these tips like no makeup and keeping it simple my maskne has improved! Just a tip, I had developed a lot of bumps on my chin and neck..after awhile I realized it was because I was pulling my mask down to take a sip of water or take a short breather. I find if you need to take the mask off open it like a door, off one ear. Also, please DO NOT touch the outside of your mask and then continue to touch other things. The outside of the mask has so much bacteria from the environment. Let’s continue to be responsible and wear our masks not to protect ourselves but to protect others 💕

Before Covid I have been working on my diet and changing my lifestyle and my skin was getting better, not until Covid happens. My family thinks I'm being too sensitive and overreacting about my skin when talking about my acne from wearing these masks because I'm a guy and "it's okay for guys to have acne and it's manly". Currently, I'm not getting any acne elsewhere but I have these collection of red bumps and pimples on both of my cheeks right from where the edges of the mask is when worn, and it takes several days before it goes away but comes back since I have to wear a mask when going out.

My acne is coming back after I was able to finally clear it up. I realized that sugar was one of the main reasons as to why my face looked the way it did, so I cut down on it. I would also use a turmeric mask which helped a lot as well. I did this and within a month my face cleared up. I couldn’t have been happier. That is until I got my first job a few months back which requires us to wear masks and ever since my face has gotten worse. My acne is slowly starting to come back and my eczema becomes very irritated. I forgot to mention but I also have eczema around my nose area. It’s not severe but it can become very noticeable sometimes. Lately it has become red and very itchy due to having to wear a mask almost everyday. Something that pisses me off is that I see other workers not wearing their masks and they don’t get called out for it yet when I decide not to wear one it becomes a problem. I understand that wearing masks are still mandatory but it upsets me because after battling with acne for years and to finally have clear skin only for it to come back has to be one of the worst feelings. Now I’ll have to restart the whole process all over again but I’m more worried that it won’t work this time because either way im going to have to keep wearing these masks which will only irritate my skin more. Idk what to do anymore. Is anyone going through this rn?

Big thing that helped was putting pimple patches of active pimples or white heads before I put my mask on (even if I just FEEL a pimple coming and it's not surfaces yet) it prevents my mask from irritating the pimple or letting and bacteria get in. It also treats the pimple as well!!! I got mine on amazon and they're amazing!!

Niacinamide and ceramides are excellent for skin... By the way, I had to go to three different Walmart stores (and Walgreens) looking for Cerave Repair Eye Cream. Ended up finding it at CVS (last one). Also, last week, I was looking for the Hydrating Cleanser and had the same issue. I think people is taking this "maskne" issue very seriously because a lot of good prods for skin care are missing at drugstores and supermarkets. The cleanser I had to order online thru Amazon.🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Wearing mask(disposable surgical mask is better) in the car is also a must because the air produced by the aircon of the car is actually air from the outside of the car so if someone without a mask sneeze outside your car and your car’s aircon is on you’re actually inhaling that same bacteria from the air.

I notice both deep painful acne and dry skin which combined with my lowered immune system causing my acne to get infected. Every. Time.
Its been really hard for me and has destroyed my confidence. What helps is changing my disposable mask every two hours and using sensitive baby wipes before and after putting on my mask. I dont wear makeup under my mask but it's still a huge struggle. At the beginning of covid I worked 30 hours a week and have had face impetigo so bad I couldn't eat or open my mouth. That honestly was a very dark time. Cera ve hydrating cleanser is a lifesaver though.

I’m in a mask 12+hrs a day at work, since the day we started wearing masks, I’ve only put makeup from the eyes up. 😂 I’m not quite keen on ditching makeup altogether, but can’t stand the thought of all that face makeup trapped under a mask with my hot steamy breath all day. I found a happy medium just ditching from the eyes down. 😂

I have oily acne prone skin and I work in the medical field so I’m wearing a disposable mask with a cloth mask on top for 8 hours at a time. I’m severely breaking out with inflamed pimples and I’m getting dark scars. I’m currently using cetaphil wash in the morning with cera be moisturizer. I do not wear any makeup under my mask. At night I use PanOxyl benzoyl peroxide wash and Cera ve PM moisturizer. I spot treat with Mario Badescu frying lotion or diluted tea tree oil. Any suggestions? I feel like I’m doing what I can but I’m still suffering and it seems like it’ll be something I have to deal with for a long time :(

    • @crisali7824
      @crisali7824 4 роки тому

Maybe you can use a 2,5% benzoyl peroxide cream before the mousturizer in the mornings so it kills the bacteria your skin would produce during the day wearing the mask and keeps the sweat under control (azelaic acid works as good as benzoyl peroxide and it helps fading the dark spots too). Also you can add a gentle bha toner in the night (after your cleanser and before your mousturizer) to clean your pores deeply after wearing the mask all day. I also recommend you to do double cleanse even though you don't wear makeup. Use a gentle oil, like almond oil to clean deeply the sweat, oilness and bacteria the mask leaves on your face and the use a very gentle water based cleansers (cleansers should have a ph about 5.5), follow with de bha toner and finish with your mousturizer. Good luck!
