  • Some farmers were having devastating damage to their crops and sod fields. Luckily we were able to remove this giant sow with a bow and arrow, saving the farmers thousands of dollars in future loss. This is Ryan's biggest hog taken with a bow to date!

He says, multiple times, it's a farm pig. There's no reason to discuss if it is or not. He still did society s service by harvesting this big girl. Left out into neighboring crop lands her and her offspring would be devastating. May his family enjoy the harvest!

I like that you called it what it was and didn't claim it was a monster russian boar or something. Those escaped domestics and their offspring can get enormous (read: fat as hell) because they have learned to just eat non-stop and in that environment (surrounded by crops), it's the perfect scenario. After several generations of running free, they're usually much leaner and lighter. I know there are plenty of big ones out there, but 347 would be my heaviest by far. Great kill.

@@ItsAWildLife1 WOuld suspect is is fully the local wild type, have seen a couple of similar ones elsewhere. And the same reaction from knockers was there too. Have seen a boar that was obese, unsure why it was so fat like a tme one (it most definitely wasn't), it was living in hill country that produced a few good pigs for the region

Really nice pig!!! It was a perfect shot...you hit behind the shoulder and got lucky that it didn't hit ribs based on the arrow behavior at impact. Take a look at single bevel, two blade high FOC arrows. I get full pass thrus on elk which are much larger and have a similarly tough hide. You'll never get that kind of penetration with a expandable.

Apparently most of the commenters on here do not understand what the term feral means. First generation feral hogs are absolutely indistinguishable from a domestic hog. Second generation feral hogs may or may not show changes in skeletal and muscular development depending on what generation feral the boar that sired the litter was. The more generations removed from domesticity, the greater the "wild hog" look will become. Feral just means born out of domesticity and raised without socializing with humans.

I have just gotten into some wild hogs after joining a deer camp last year. These dudes are dangerous! I would like to harvest a few, but I'm okay if there aren't any quite the size of your harvest. lol Congratulations!

Awesome pig and an even better shot. I shot a pig about the same size years ago with a .22 magnum..., and she took 4 shots to finally bring down. She also was from domestic stock that was about 4 or 5 generations old. The authorities booted out a heap of squatters and took their livestock..., but left the pigs thinking they would die off..., we are talking around the 1920's..., 50 years later we had these monsters eating the clover crops.

Not being negative, but I always wondered why hunters used “Range Finders” to get the distance from their hunt set up (Blind or Stand) to a feeding or feeder location. When you set up you can measure that distance and a few other things where you may have shots etc. This gives you one less thing to do while hunting and take some risk out of you moving and making noise....

As is in Golf as well as Bow Hunting, it’s a confidence measure in the pre-shot routine to help in the hunter’s confidence during release.
