** Why Do We Hunt Hogs? **
Feral hogs are a non-native and invasive species in Texas. Each year hogs cause millions of dollars in damage in the form of damaged crops, contaminated water supplies, broken equipment, transmission of diseases and injury to livestock.
Feral hogs compete with native wildlife for resources and also prey directly on the eggs and young of ground nesting birds and will actively hunt small mammals, frogs, lizards and snakes.
Due to their intelligence, adaptability, and prolific breeding habits, traditional methods of hunting and trapping have been largely ineffective in reducing the feral hog population. The introduction of night vision and thermal optics has greatly increased landowners' ability to mitigate the destruction caused by feral hogs.
Feral swine are not considered game animals in Texas and may be hunted by any means or methods at any time of year.

Any surviving boars are going to have PTSD flashbacks every time they hear a clown horn.
The synchronized shots are very well done but what impresses me most is how close these guys get while going undetected. These animals are always on high alert.
That's what I was thinking too.
snow on floor : no sound wind facing hunters : no smell dark night : no vision
А я думал как одним выстрелом убивают троих. Уже подумал было, что кабаны рядом притворяются.
Although alert, it is impossible to avoid the hunters' professional snipers
I was always curious of what happened once you killed them? Slaughter and store? Sale?
If someone is thinking this is cruel just read the video description they explained on why they do this.
I once had to deal with an idiot who whined about how "cowardly' it was to hunt these things by helicopter in the air, despite not knowing why this is a necessary business, especially in the Southern US where there is a lack of predators to keep the boar population in check.
Not only is the clown horn hilarious but it’s also a pretty genius idea to get the animal to face you while staying still. Allowing for a perfect headshot.
Head shot isn't good hunting practice.. Heart/lung shot is preferable!
Yeah. Can you tell if that’s what they are aiming for? I know they are good for quick painless death but it’s a harder shot right? Just curious I do not hunt. Thx.
@@justlook.productions yes it is a harder shot but i don't think many hunters are comfortable with letting any animal suffer from a gunshot wound, even a pest as destructive as feral hogs.

In my town, as the wild boars used to destroy the orchards a lot, they decided to introduce wolves to naturally control the wild boar population, but it turns out that the wolves prefer to be opportunists instead of being environmentalists, and instead of eating the wild boars, they prefer sheep, goats even calves.

It blows me away that there are people out there that don't understand what an invasive species is or what they do to ecosystems. Environmental protection comes in many forms and this is one of them.
I think people just cannot understand that the same is done to millions of cows, chickens, pigs every year but they just see a cheeseburger. It's the disconnect between where food actually comes. If they could really grasp how many animals are killed to satiate our desire for meat, things like culling dangerous destructive invasive species wouldn't bother them.

I sure hope these efforts are making a real difference. I knew the hogs were around and both dangerous and destructive...BUT I had NO idea how many there actually are.
Tbh it's a losing battle. Despite the 1000s killed each year, their population and range keeps growing and spreading.
@@shezyam460 Not good news. Glad at least someone is tackling the problem.
Look up the study that Texas A&M did. They say that you have to kill 70% of them just to break even😳. They show how a six month sow can have a litter of 12 by ten months old. If 6 of those are female those 6 can produce 72 pigs. So 1 female can produce 88 pigs in 20 months. Then the real numbers take off in the 3rd generation.
@@quietobserver4636 yep, only about a third of hogs get caught out and killed, which means that the whole effort is really not going well.
@@shezyam460 for sure. I live in east Texas and only 2 generations ago, these people depended on wild hogs to live. They would "work" the hogs several times a year. Meaning they would castrate every boar they caught and mark their ears. Come winter, they would kill what they needed and utilize every part of it. This kept the population in check. Now Walmart sell pork chops for $2.89lb. Folks quit woking the herds and they got out of hand. I don't think there's any controlling them now.

Like in real life, pigs are not compulsive attackers, that is a fantasy in the minds of some attempting to glorify them.
Nearly every pig of any size that has not just been attacked on YT and the wider world will bolt for cover immediately it realises a human is present. In cover extremely rarely a boar will not run and let you know it is there, but have not heard of unprovoked attacks resulting (& have not heard of pigheros relating this situation, have experienced it personally. Not comfortable, but no attack).
What pigs will do is retaliate if cornered, wounded, mauled with dogs or defending young etc, and they sometimes do this enthusiastically once started, and not give up against the odds.
Most (possibly all) "unprovoked" attacks are due to the pig being provoked elsewhere, one that has just escaped dogs chewing it's nuts and hasn't had time to contemplate forgiveness hasn't got a sense of humour.

Farmers have been moaning about the damage they cause since some were let lose or escaped.
100s of years ago there were bears and wolves there also. if one is going to reintroduce an animal then it is necessary to reintroduce their natural predators also - that would solve the problem. but no, farmers and people in general are such a bunch complaining whining pussies. always want their cake and eat it. learn to live with the land rather than worrying about profits all the time. wolves and bears are no more risky to us than wild pigs.
