    Cormorants are protected in my state is Australia as well, and I have no idea why. Nothing destroys a fishery quicker than a cormorants. Re your hog. I get them in my dog traps regularly and I hate them. They destroy a set and trash everything. Mind you I dont go to all the trouble you did to getting them out. I find the Winchester solution gives the best results.

    I seriously cannot understand why they allow the transport of these animals. People transport them into areas so they can hunt them. They get loose and destroy neighboring hunting properties. Run the deer off. I'm so glad transporting them in Alabama is illegal.

    The feral hog infestation in Texas is so bad that we now have a law against transporting live feral hogs. Failing to kill that boar before you put him in the truck is a low level felony here, and would cost you about half the price of a new truck per hog.

    You need a long snap nose trap, this holds the snout, as it charges you keep the nose tight by securing around a small tree and take up the slack. Then flip him then lash the rear legs then the front, the front and back together. Also tape up the jaw and snout so he can't bite. Job done.

    The shorter you can make that lead, the better. He wasn’t charging as hard as they usually do and some will hit that 4ft lead going wide open and that’s when it will break them cables or end couplers. Plus it makes it easier to get him thrown. It’s a great way to make barrhogs! 😎

    • @ItsAWildLife1
      @ItsAWildLife1  Рік тому +4

      I agree! With this spot it was the closest tree to the sandy road to put the trap so it would not stick out so much and could be blended in. But I agree the shorter lead the less momentum they can get.

      Inner tubes make good shock absorbers. Getting a light proof bag over the head/eyes (many can be seen through) & a band/tape around the mouth behind the tusks makes a difference. & a net &'or foot snare for entangling them quicker might be an option. Feet tied very well back to front on same sides. So they can't get it untied. Leather straps like large dog collars worked on deer, that have longer hocks, and will not give up like a pig @@ItsAWildLife1

Their bills are perfectly straight and they will spear fish with that arrow straight beak. They will then throw them in the air off the beak and catch them, then swallow. Cormorants swim with part of their back out of the water and the beak has a downturn at the end. Their are millions of cormorants but not near that many Anhinga.

In this day and age why not just shoot them? It’s what I do and quite frankly it’s a blast (no pun intended). I see that the trap has no teeth, but still, over time even these traps will lame any animal. To each his own, it’s nothing personal, I just wish it wasn’t done that way.

      C Eng : A Japanese vlogger in You Tube used your suggested "eye blindfolding" technique in catching wild hog.. Plus, he used a tough "ducting tape" (?) in covering its sharp mouth tusk- done simply by wrapping so many rounds of such duct tape - in the hog mouth... A ready made metal clamp, with continious hinge, like oyster in opening/ closing format- will be more cheaper than ducting tape.. Its barlock system will be back. up by zigzag nylon rope tieng...

    You should watch the Japanese do the same thing to get some ideas. The following three words (wild boar, trap/snare, capture) could be copied and searched : イノシシ 罠 捕獲

      @@Lonewolf_1776 A lot of people hunt them with big knives. They catch the hog and then stick the knife in them right behind the front legs and into the heart. They die in just a couple a seconds like that. So if they are in a residential area, they could do that.

    'Crazy!' is not the correct term (just lazy English). Watching this I was seriously hoping that the hog was able to cause you some damage as snares like this are inhumane. Your use of them inefficient and incompetent.

    I’d have a baseball bat and go for that home run, failing that, a pig spear is a good one to have in the truck, a two piece will do the trick. Failing that, solid slug in the semi auto until it drops like a sack of potatoes 👍🍻

    That size and the teeth size is the most dangerous of Wild Boar seen one like that kill five hunting dogs and left one wounded badly. But to the dogs credit, they killed the Boar.
