I must be missing something...but why dont you just shoot the damn thing? Why fight it and risk injury? If you're relocating it use a hav a heart trap rather than letting its leg get mangled...i guess i'm just missing the point of all this.

The feral hog infestation in Texas is so bad that we now have a law against transporting live feral hogs. Failing to kill that boar before you put him in the truck is a low level felony here, and would cost you about half the price of a new truck per hog.

Guys I live with these destructive animals down here on a small 10 acre property in south Texas. I’m sorry but I just can’t get behind trapping. I just think it’s cruel. In this day and age why not just shoot them? It’s what I do and quite frankly it’s a blast (no pun intended). I see that the trap has no teeth, but still, over time even these traps will lame any animal. To each his own, it’s nothing personal, I just wish it wasn’t done that way.

That is a Anhinga. They swim with just the neck out of the water which is why "Crackers" called them Snake Birds. Their bills are perfectly straight and they will spear fish with that arrow straight beak. They will then throw them in the air off the beak and catch them, then swallow. Cormorants swim with part of their back out of the water and the beak has a downturn at the end. Their are millions of cormorants but not near that many Anhinga.

If you cover its eyes will help to calm it down. That will make the whole process safer and smoother.

C Eng : A Japanese vlogger in You Tube used your suggested "eye blindfolding" technique in catching wild hog.. Plus, he used a tough "ducting tape" (?) in covering its sharp mouth tusk- done simply by wrapping so many rounds of such duct tape - in the hog mouth... A ready made metal clamp, with continious hinge, like oyster in opening/ closing format- will be more cheaper than ducting tape.. Its barlock system will be back. up by zigzag nylon rope tieng...

Springs on the trap chain / lead is the way to go! Add Extra swivels as well. great together with the springs for any leghld trap or leg hold snare... gets more animals & less escapes & less animal injury risk that is important with possible accidental bycatch!

Maybe I missed it, but so why are you even keeping the hog alive while you free it from the snare, and then taking it with you while its still alive?

@@sec9500 ... where it can escape and invade someone else's property. They should just shoot it in the snare and eliminate the problem immediately.

    *"How to kill feral pigs?"*
Has anyone thought about systematically flooding pig-infested farmland, and then purposefully electrocuting it with a high voltage electricity???
The conductive mineral, especially with the pigs plowing and upturning the soil could help with the electric-conductivity! 🐗☠️⚡
