As a professional mechanic I will say we all use our fair share of Harbor Freight tools. Their new Icon ratchets rival Snap On in quality, and have been shown to withstand more torque than their Snap On equivalents for a fraction of the price and still have the lifetime warranty. I lean to Snap On most of the time these days but I still have many tools in my arsenal from HF I just haven’t had to replace and I use every single day. You’re lucky you’re not a tool nut also because THAT can get insane and expensive. I have it under control but it’s super easy to go crazy.
Their 50 cal boxes are actually pretty damn good. For shits and grins I water tested them a couple of years ago by throwing a few weighted ones in the bottom of a pool and they stayed completely dry inside. I fully trust them to hold my freedom seeds.
I got the flimsy plastic one and made a speaker in it not bad for the price. It smelt like they sealed the smell of the sweatshop in when I opened it though. I don't know what model their metal ammo cans are M2A1 or M2A2.
@@CogentAnon I've wondered the same thing. I've thought about tack welding on a nub on the outer hinge or running a pin through them to hold it in place, but haven't gotten around to trying that yet.
Harbor freight has been amazing to me. When I was starting my technical career path I lived there because it was cheap. In time I learned it’s great to find out how bad you need the tool, buy cheap until it breaks then buy the best you can afford if you still need it has been my motto for a while now. #truckedc #whiskeyhat
Harbor freight has gotten a lot better over the years with the quality of their stuff. Also it's the only place around here that I've found the good Midland Jerry cans
I took one of the Bauer boxes (the size you showed) and made an emergency cold weather box to keep blankets, tarps, fire, water filters, lights, radio, and more for my SUV. I then got the basket that goes on top for misc crap, and I love it!
Fun fact, Duct tape was originally known as “Duck” tape when invented in 1943 by a mom nMed Vesta Stroud who wanted to save soldiers’ lives in WWII. Johnson &Johnson’s Permacel division produced it. It was a waterproof tape that kept moisture out of ammo cans. Te original tape was produced in army green. Soldier soon learned the tape was great for not only as a moisture repellant, but also for repairing many things like jeeps, guns, and aircraft. How “duck” was used is all theory, but probably based on the moisture repellant properties. How it shifted from “duck” to “duct” is based on sales of the silver colored version.
It was made with duck cloth and adhesive. That’s why it’s “duck tape.” Call it 100MPH tape in the military. 3M came up with the “duct tape” name for marketing because “duck tape” got trademarked.
I use the rifle case to store all my dry food and cooking while I’m out camping. I take foam out and everything is laid out nice inside and no digging around searching in a deep box
I've found their Badlands winches to be extraordinary for the price. They have their 12,000 lb winch (wire rope) for like $279 now. Have one on my truck and brother have I ever put that thing to the test for three years or better now. Never failed me.
I have the 9k on my jeep, replaced the steel cable with an 18k poly rope and it has never failed to yank me out of a mud hole or pull a buddy out of a ditch.
A really nice tip for flashlights or headlamps that take the 3 aaa round battery. You can throw that plastic piece out and use rechargable li-ion 18650. It's so convenient to have 1 battery taking the place of 3. And it also adds a slight boost in lumens.
I love the Apache cases. Great price for something like that, and they're rugged as hell. I have 3 of them, all for different uses. Get them, have them, use them. they rock!
#1; best intro EVER, #2 Awesome usage of video clips, #3 very obvious yet informative ideas that I myself have definitely walked past in HF multiple times. Probably won't anymore. Thanks dude
Legal and logical use for bolt cutters and why I put some in my truck. Couple years ago California wildfires trapped people on the freeway because the fence separating the opposing lane and the way away from the fire was a chain link fence. I remember people using anything they could find to cut a hole to get through and I went to harbor freight and bought bolt cutters that day.
I bolted down my apache case inside my truck to stop snatch and grabbers from taking my stuff. Got anything expensive laying around inside? Into the apache case it goes. For example, laptop, GHB
For the head lamps, I have been carrying around the flash lights with the belt clip that allows me to throw it on my hat. It has been a game changer since I have found those.
Random but relevant, I bought a Hercules table saw..that table saw lasted me a very long time and got me to the point of owning a 6 figure solo custom wood working business lol. It was a good saw.

New subscriber here from Orlando. I'm glad I found your video. I'm a mother of 5 & been prepping since '05, I truly enjoy it, it's a work-in-progress & I love finding new things to add all the time. I raised my kids with the knowledge of how important it is to prep (as I have 5 girls) & to always be prepared with anything, anywhere! When I worked with the fire service we had a 36 inch and a 48 inch set of bolt cutters. We called the 48 inch set the key to the city. If it fit between the jaws it got cut. BTW, great video.
I am a truck driver one thing that has proved to be extremely helpful. The Bauer small blower . 20v battery works really good for blowing out trailer and truck. The little vac works well also . Harbor Freight helped me become a mechanic. Is my truck currently sitting in the driveway with two flat tires and a burned out fuel pump? Yeah, but because of Harbor Freight, I can fix it. When I'm ready.
Should have inserted the scene from Boondock Saints where the brothers fight about rope. Gorilla Tape = fire starting rolls if you roll pieces of tape into tubes.
We don’t have harbour freight in Australia but we do have that style of cheap depot hardware store. I do get my general base gear from those places I was surprisedu didn’t have any zip ties in the video. Always fun to watch and get ideas from cheers mate. #truckedc #whiskeyhat
That’s a great description of what harbor freight truly is! They really do occasionally have some real gems but you often gotta sift thru some turds to find them!
I don't know I make good use of harbor freight once you get to learn what they have and I'm a painter by trade and they do real well for the painters and safety glasses and face shields. I would say they have more that is good then that is not
Cool video man. I have several Apachie cases got the rifle case for $100 at their parking lot sale. I put together a pretty nice gun cleaning kit from HF stuff. Thanks for the tips!
For tarps I've always picked up the canvas tarps from harbor freight. They're pretty affordable as far as canvas goes and I've had the same one for 7 years and another one for 3. Might be worth looking into
First time on the channel, and I gotta say this is awesome! Very helpful, informative, with none of the "do this not that" kinda junk I've seen elsewhere. Dope Beard, too! You got my sub dude, great stuff man.
Very interesting video. The rope deteriorates over time if left out in the elements. I know because I purchased it with the tarp to stop water from coming in through a cracked skylight. It will not last the summer.
100% those hard cases are awesome. I also like some of the smaller clear plastic cases for organizing small parts. Anything injection molded or made from cheap steel comes from the same factories in china anyway just gets a different branding mark if it goes to another retailer.
Harbor Freight has saved me a few times when I'm needed to stay under budget. I've been looking for a low budget tool box to keep in my travel trailer. I'll have to check them out. #truckedc #whiskeyhat

Should have inserted the scene from Boondock Saints where the brothers fight about rope. Gorilla Tape = fire starting rolls if you roll pieces of tape into tubes.
I'm gonna get that Apache for sure. Thanks Jeremy for the heads up.
Harbor freight icon tools are top notch..not cheap but look at the head to head comparison yo snap on mac etc..those daytona floor jacks are great!
The Apache case is also good to make a travel humidor. Just add some boveda packs and maybe some cedar sheets in, and you're ready to go!
Baldur makes some pretty legit content since his run-in with Kratos. Good to see him doing well 💪
I think this is the first video of yours ive seen. Good stuff man 👍
We don’t have harbour freight in Australia but we do have that style of cheap depot hardware store. I do get my general base gear from those places I was surprisedu didn’t have any zip ties in the video. Always fun to watch and get ideas from cheers mate. #truckedc #whiskeyhat
Those Apache cases are SOLID. I’ve been using them for guns and drones for years and I’ve beat the hell out of them. Practically indestructible
I’m at Harbor Freight right now…your suggestions are spot on grabbed some stuff thanks to you!!!!
Definitely some good ideas you might overlook!
Stumbled upon this by accident. Great info. I'll have to check out the rest of the videos! Thank you!
Bro those clips are well thought out and hilarious. Subbed up
Very interesting video. The rope deteriorates over time if left out in the elements. I know because I purchased it with the tarp to stop water from coming in through a cracked skylight. It will not last the summer.
I love harbor freight... not gonna lie... for overland/offroad stuff they actually have some really solid stuff at great deals.
100% those hard cases are awesome. I also like some of the smaller clear plastic cases for organizing small parts. Anything injection molded or made from cheap steel comes from the same factories in china anyway just gets a different branding mark if it goes to another retailer.
I buy and use harbor gears for my off road recoveries for years and they do great no need to get ripped off for off road named equipments
Harbor Freight is freaking awesome.
Harbor Freight has saved me a few times when I'm needed to stay under budget. I've been looking for a low budget tool box to keep in my travel trailer. I'll have to check them out. #truckedc #whiskeyhat
