Once I turned 13, Dr. Wilhousky would let me sing even though I was not in high school. It was a thrill I will never forget. Once I entered high school, I was able to be an official member of the chorus, "All City High School Chorus," in NYC. The Battle Hymn was our signature song. Thanks for posting this.

So what does one do on Memorial Day, remember and honor those passed on and give great thanks for what they gave us. I used to go to choral practice with my older sisters and sit in the back, mesmerized by Dr. Wilhousky. He was my music mentor and hero. He inspired me to become a voice teacher and choral director, which I did for many years.
