- In this oil painting tutorial I'll show you how to paint trees in the mist. You will learn how to paint trees in an autumnal scene that are shrouded by mist in the background. Hello Michael. I was so thrilled to come across this tutorial, as I've been battling with a forest scene - in acrylics. Now I know how to finish it, and it was so good to see how you dealt with the path, and made it and the painting of the leaves seem so simple.
