  • In this oil painting tutorial I'll show you how to paint a detailed landscape foreground. I will focus on how to paint detailed grass along a river, where you will learn the brush techniques used for painting grass and how to mix green oil colours for painting realistic grass.
    I'm a professional landscape artist with over 20 years of experience in oil painting. My UA-cam Channel is dedicated to helping people learn how to paint in oils. I really believe that everyone can learn how to paint!

    I am 86 and recently lost my husband of 68 years, I have been lost . I decided to try to learn to paint and have been watching you. I just love how you paint. I am learning so much and now have a reason to get up in the morning. I have so much to learn about paint products and how to make the paint flow off the brush and what liquid is but I am getting better and can smile again sometimes. Thank you Your really cute

      I used to teach a local oil painting class & several women joined us who were recently widowed. They expressed the same feelings as what you said. There's something about painting that's soothing to a broken heart. Thank God I haven't experienced losing my husband but my heart goes out to you & I'm soooo glad you found a reason to go on. May God bless you.

    You achieve a phenomenal photo realism in your paintings and I am amazed at the amount of detail you put in to them. You paint every leaf and every blade of grass. You are so talented. I love watching you paint but I couldn't ever hope to paint like you. Fantastic, that's all I can say.

    • @paulnoel7196
      @paulnoel7196 6 років тому +5

      It takes more talent to NOT paint every leaf and make it look as he did. I have painted for a long time and trust me , painting the illusion of detail is far more difficult. Look up Donald Jurney....he is the Master of what I describe. And I have seen his work in person and always blown away by the realism of his work with minimal strokes.

    • @joyceruserious7920

      Paul, you are comparing apples to oranges. I love Impressionism too but these are two totally different techniques.. Michael is going for photo realism and I’d say he nails it!

      @@AndersJohansson many artists don't, thus Paul's comment. But I'm learning how to do it all using Michael's instruction, and then I can choose what to keep and what to imply.
