    I have a Fenix 7X. I commonly do strength training activities and the Garmin's ability to identify what kind of reps I'm doing is uncanny. I love it.

      Maybe it's because my Fenix 6 is the first watch I've ever had of this nature, but it's amazing to me it's able to accurately guess what workout I'm doing, and even count most of my reps at all. I see some people say it's bad, but to me it's magic. I mean like, it's a tiny wrist mounted computer and it's able to count crunches with my only input being "strength training"

      I bought a Garmin Vivosmart HR like 10 years ago or something, and it also accurate could tell what activity I was doing, while my garmin 735xt does not even seem to care at all, cause I have to select it myself.

    Bought the new epix right after this video came out and can't thank you enough! I love this watch! I still use my Instinct 2x solar tactical for work since its more rugged but after work when working out, hiking, or doing land navigation I always throw the EPIX on! I wanted the new Tactix 7 amoled but i get all the options the epix doesn't have on my instint like jump master options. And I was able to get 2 watches for the price of 1.

    Super helpful video, went from an apple watch to Garmin Epix. Was honestly feeling a bit lost, and didn't feel that I was using my Garmin to its max or understanding it. With this video I now have learned how to use my new watch, and have a better understanding of its features. Great video, recommend to any first time users or buyers of this type of Garmin product.

      @raesianNW 5 місяців тому

      @@mafib1 I went from the apple watch ultra to the Garmin Fenix 7 pro (returned it for the epix pro gen 2) because my eyes were straining reading the MIP display. As far as sleep tracking goes, I feel like it's pretty good. Apple's might be just a tad better because Garmin thinks it's a nap when I wake up at night to use the bathroom and go back to sleep, but overall, it's not bad. It hasn't been so bad that it's messed up all my other data. I just use it was a guide and not a governor to training. I know I slept for a decent amount per night and if I feel good then I'll stick to what my training plan says! Coming from someone who has had almost every generation of an apple watch outside of the ultra 2 I'll say Garmin is light years ahead of where apple is in terms of a sports fitness watch. Apple has it beat as a smartwatch, but most people buying a Garmin don't really care about the cellular activity. We want it to tell us how our training is impacting us lol! Overall, I couldn't recommend it enough man, hope this helps!

    I love your breakdown of everything. Especially since I haven’t used a garmin since 2015 so a ton of these features are new. No idea about HRV stuff, glad you touched on that. I also agree, so much of Garmins data is supposed to be used as “trends over time” data. Keep up the great videos, thanks for all the tips.

    It should be noted that not all stock watch face data fields can be changed/customized. It took me a minute to figure this out when I first got the watch; I chose a face I liked then went to customize the data fields and the only options were apply, change color or delete. I though I needed an update or something but it turns out there are a few that cannot be customized.

      I was debating the same thing. I was thinking 265, Epix, or Epix Pro. I ended up going with the Epix with titanium/sapphire. It was on sale for $200 off. I opted not to go with the pro. It would have been $300 more,and as far as I can tell, the only thing the Pro has different from the regular, Epix is the LED flashlight and the updated heart rate sensor, which I don’t really care about because I usually wear a chest strap anyway. I believe the 965 will have almost identical functionality, the only thing you will be missing is the more durable materials of the Epix with the titanium, sapphire, and metal parts. 965 is 599. I got Epix titanium/sapphire for 699.

    One thing I am not fully clear in general for Garmin watches (I still don't have one, I am on the way of buying) is how do you deal with their apps and Strava. Usually I use Strava kind of like facebook for sports, I like logging my activities there. But I see Garmin activities are supreme. So for example if you go on a hike, do you start both a hiking activity on the watch and another one in Strava? Or is there some optikn that those can work simultaneously?

    Still can’t tell if I should ditch the AW Ultra and Get the Epix Pro 2. I only use the AW as a fitness tracker for cycling, running, lifting, and rowing. I don’t really use smart watch functions either.

      I own both, and for your situation I’d go Garmin. I only enjoy AW ultra for companion style situations. Garmin still is a better sports watch. Plus I enjoy the look and weight/ balance better for the epix.

      Well if you aren't really using your Apple Watch for it's smart functions, you won't miss them. What you will gain is a lot longer battery life, better fitness metrics, sport profiles, and the Epix has built in topoactive mapping with points of interest. My favorite feature on my Fenix, no phone needed, works without cell, I can set it to my local coffee shop and it will plan me a route, similarly if I'm out on a trail I can tell it to route me back to my starting point. Very neat.

    Hi, just bougth the Epix Gen 2 Pro 47mm. Very happy with it, but it seems kinda slow sometimes. When i enter the quick menue with the clocks flashlight and stuff and the try to leave, it holds up for a sec before going back to my watch face. Also have exsperienced that while browsing through the maps the clock just frooze and had to restart. Only 3 days after turning it on for the first time. I feel like theese things shouldnt happen when i pay 1000+ euros for a watch. Would love some replyes, does this happen to you guys?

      Sadly, no plans there. It'll come to the Fenix 7/Epix (non-pro) series, the FR955, and the FR965, but not the older Fenix 6. :(

    Hi, I have been deliberating between a Garmin and Apple Watch for sometime, and eventually decided with a Garmin Epix 2. I am more informed how to navigate my way round the interface having watched your video, so thanks very much. Is the watch face you use in epix pro obtained from Garmin connect iq?

    -Does the garmin record the sleep automatically?
    -If forgot to put the activity before do it the watch record you signals automatically to later add the activity?

    Acc. to my experience Garmin still has a bad sleep stage tracking. And if that goes into body battery, training readiness etc. etc. those data are misleading. Do you agree?

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  Рік тому +1

      It feeds into it, but as noted in the video, there’s simply no way to confirm the sleep stage data (right or wrong), because technology comparison options suck. I think in general it trends roughly right enough to work though, because total sleep quantity is a big aspect.

    Dissapointing things i came across after a week of usage:
    - can't get weather info without your phone
    - no music equaliser settings (boost your subbass, lower high frequencies etc).
    - not being able to have music overall without your phone.
    - can't play music on it's own without headphones
    - the map feature needing a subscription of 60 dollar a year
    - the scheduled sleep modus keep putting itself on even after i manually turned sleep mode off

  • @berntlie6799
    @berntlie6799 Рік тому

    Silly question, perhaps... I mainly do walking/hiking. When I start the activity, by default I can change between a digital watch/time, one view with heart rate, speed, etc., etc., and one view with the map.
    I don't like the digital watch face. Can I change it? E.g., to the one I normally use when I do not log GPS data, etc? I'd like to duplicate the normal watch face, but with slightly different colors for the numbers, etc., just to let me know that I'm in training mode...

  • @skygreen5939
    @skygreen5939 Рік тому +4

    seems really odd to me that the flashlight screen doesn't display when you turn on the flashlight (as it did with the previous generation's on-screen flashlight). its slightly annoying to have to add a second hotkey for that when it should display automatically. Hopefully Garmin will add that in a software update.
