This is such a great, detailed video! Thank you! You’re the only person that has done an actual visual comparison of the watch sizes on a female wrist. This is extremely helpful and I can’t believe no one else does it. Having the different watches on your wife’s wrists along with the measurements is brilliant. That was the last thing that was holding up my decision between the sizing of the 265s & 965. Super helpful and it’s really appreciated. Great video and walkthrough of the watches functions and features
@@lucyilly428 same for me. I watched sooo many videos to find them on female wrists and searched for photos... ended up getting the 265s and am super happy with it
Not the person you're asking but in case others are wondering, I'm female with average sized wrists, I bought the 265S and I'm really glad I got that one. I wouldn't want it to be bigger, it already looks quite big and there's plenty of space on the screen. Using touch is no problem.
Awesome, enjoy it! One tip: Ensure that during setup you select to make the new unit the Primary Wearable and Primary Training device. If you're not sure if you did that, in Garmin Connect Mobile under settings at the top level, you'll see the option. I've seen reports of a few people skipping/saying no to that during the setup, and results in carry-over confusion of data.
We get it Rebecca, you have a new watch. Also could you stop updating us about your sleep score at the breakfast table, me and the boys have decided we don't want to hear about it.
Aww i have a vivoactive 3 as well that has been with me for almost 5 years! Still going strong but recharge cycles have degraded to 4 days or 3 instead of 10. Will switch to FR265 soon! How do u like it so far? My only concern is i’ll miss the MIP always on display
Thanks for this very informative video. Even after years of being a regular Garmin user myself, there is always something new that you bring to your audience's attention
Thank you so much for putting so much time and detail into this overview. My 265 is scheduled to arrive Friday. I‘m super excited and thanks to your video I‘m now also pretty much set for the installation process. Well done, you earned yourself a new subscriber!
Actually now that I've seen the whole video, almost there lol, the 965 does have many more settings and tweaks. I really appreciate your time and effort making these awesome videos! Thank You! 🍻 🍻
Thank you! I found your channel back in 2018 when I was considering the Vivoactive 3, which I bought with confidence after watching your video. My watch is wildly still going strong but I'm ready to upgrade so here I am again because your content is the most thorough and all around just the best!
Im a runner whos never had a smart watch and im exploring different options, this video is 10 times better than any review as it actually shows you how things function if you had no idea before. What ive learned is a lot of the features are gimmicks.. training readiness, sleep score, hrv, acute load, recovery , run dynamics- gimmicks, its faster, cheaper and more accurate to just listen to your body, i cant imagine a person looking at a metric on his watch and deciding not to train because of it for example or to train when he feels super tired even though the watch says otherwise, seems ridiculous. Vo2 max in theory should be useful but in practice according to the video it doesnt work and is not measured properly. Things like plans and coaching are kinda cool especially for beginners but i seriously dont see any intermediate or advanced runner ever using those instead of an individual plan so not very useful. Weather, event calendar, live tracking are cute features cherry on top type of thing that are nice to have but nothing you cant live without. What i really liked are the pro plans, ways to add custom workouts, maps , the gps, heartrate.. seems like pretty basic but those are the things im looking for for running.. and finally music and payments are really cool features that i can see myself actually using a lot. So for me, after this video i think id either go for a coros pace 3 and just enjoy the light weight , battery life and basic features and not focus on gimmicks or i go for garmin 255 if i really want a better music experience , garmin pay and a slightly better app experience for custom workouts and sports other than running.
Thanks for the detailed review and guide. Helped me decide to take the plunge and upgrade to a FR265S from an Apple Watch as I train for my first marathon.
@@Dcrainmaker you make such a very detailed and deep review and focusing on what's really important for people who like exercising. Keep it up man. Pd. Sorry my english, I am from Mexico city

I just ordered this watch after my Galaxy Forester literally died on me during a trip w/ our youth. This thing supports better battery life, better water resistance, & way more Health options than my old watch provided. Thank you for the Guide, now I can’t wait for this thing to show up in 7 days!!!
I've had my 235 for a while now and was saving up to buy the 255s w/ music. I was surprised that Garmin released a new Forerunner in less than a year from the previous model. I'll admit, I was iffy on the AMOLED screen for the 265, but here in the US it's only a 50$ difference between the 255s w/music and the 265. It's a no brainer that I'll probably go with the 265s. Though I had my heart set on the black and red accent color way for the 255s, the black and yellow accent for the 265 is slowly growing on me the more I look at it online. I think I'll know for sure once I see both in person. Thanks for the in-depth review! I think I'll go with the 265s. I feel like with either watch, it'll be a big upgrade from my 235.
What really struck me which not many reviews noted is the light weight! Coming from a bulkier, heavy (and old) Suunto, I was nervous about this watch being worn ‘always on’ but I’m pleasantly surprised as to how light and comfortable it is!
40 minutes for 10k is a crazy good pace . I have always been relatively fit for past 6 years , but never ran . I Started training in november 2022 . Last week the best i could do was a 1 hour 2 minutes for 10k - 177 HR average and i am 33 😢
Thanks! As Julian said, running is really a long-term game, taking years. That said, finding a training plan, even for 3x a week will make a big difference. One day of HR easy ~45mins (so, it'll be slow - it's always slow for everyone), one day of intervals (e.g. 4-6 x 800m steady rather hard, plus warm-up/cooldown), and then one day a bit longer (60-75 mins in your case). All three types are important.
@@avash2009 consistency is magic. I went from 25minute 5k to a 19:15 5k in 6 months just basically doing what rainmaker said above. Intervals are magic
Thanks for the great video as always. I wish I've watched your galaxy watch 6 classic review before I bought that piece of crap. That's the worst purchase I ever made and intend to sell it even at a loss. After watching this video I just ordered the FR265 and it should be here early next week. You are the treasure that keeps giving. Thank you.
Great video. I’m in the apple eco system but after running regular 5km I have signed up for half marathon in October. Feel like opportunity to understand a lot more about my running with Garmin OR Apple watch ultra and use Runna / Strava. PS Garmin 955 looks great
Amazing video! I definitely smashed that like button 👍 One thing I would say about the sleep tracking is I find it useful even if it may only be at best 80% accurate from professional equipment. I absolutely feel better with a lot of deep/REM sleep and can more easily take on difficult physical/mental tasks.
Your revews are always so good...both video and written. I realize you are a bike-run-swim person, but it would really great if someone somewhere would mention whether these watches give stroke data with indoor rowing machines (basic machines with just a simple lcd and no outside connecrions). For some reason this information is almost imposible to find, even in the online manufacturer manuals; on water rowing is easy to find, but indoor...not so much. Indoor rowing is such a simple motion, it should be easy to add to the watches...
I just ordered a 46mm 265 yesterday, looking forward to putting it in my rotation, I have a venu 2 plus and an epix gen 2 sapphire also, hooked on these watches, they motivate me to exercise big time

LIke the running profile vs trail running and cardio. And the rest of the profiles? Also could you do a video explaining how to conifigure those profiles? I liked that you showed the changes to your running app to show more of what you wanted, if you could do an instrucional video on that it would be awesome!!
I have watched so many videos on forerunner 265. No one goes into the oxygen features. This is important feature I would like to see the review and the details about that.
Crazy statement at the end there "if you know the store will support it". I can only only think of public toilets that are sometimes cash operated, other than that everything is contactless in UK.
Thank you for including the size comparison with your wife's wrist, I'm definitely getting the 265S tomorrow! Would you recommend getting a screen protector as well? Thank you for an amazingly detailed video, it's incredibly helpful! 😊
Hi there! Thank you for this very detailed video about the Garmin 265's features! It is very helpful. I am considering getting this watch and was wondering if you could clarify something about the music storage. Can I transfer podcasts from any podcast platform I use? For instance, if I download podcasts using Google Podcasts, can I transfer those to the watch and listen phone-free on a run? Or does it have to be from Spotify (and do I have to have a Spotify Premium account)? And a follow up question to the music feature is: Can you rewind and fast forward a podcast (like 10 seconds or so) directly from the watch? The answer to these questions would be extremely helpful! Thank you!
I'm half way though the video, I'm a bit inpatient to find out why the 965 is much more expensive than the 265, so far, it all looks pretty much identical. I do favor the smaller size of the 265 though.
Great review! Thank you very much. I have one question though: I'm curious to know which one you would choose between 265 and 955 if the price is the same?
Great video! I just got my new FR265. Is the “back” button supposed to feel slightly different than the others? It feels squishier/softer than the other buttons. I returned and got a new one and the back button still feels the same..wondering if thats just how its designed.
I think you should make it more clear that the performance of the AMOLED screen in sunlight (being as good, or nearly as good as a MIPS display) is based on activating it (gesture, button and whatever else there is). Just glancing at the wrist when it is in the dimmed state is not at all as good as a MIPS display in bright sunlight. Thanks though, appreciate the video (as always)!
Great video! How do you compare training readiness/body battery against whoops recovery metrics? Is whoop worth the subscription of you have the Garmin?
Yup, it's been on my to-do list for a while. In short though, if you've got Training Readiness, there's virtually no reason to get Whoop. The two things Whoop has that Garmin doesn't is skin temp and actual predictive ovulation cycle tracking - using the aforementioned skin temp sensor. Garmin just lets you enter in the cycle data manually. But for men, neither of those two things have much value at this time.
some1 else gets weird vo2max values with the forerunner 265? Mine says 52 and even went up to 53 today, which I dont believe cuz im not that fit :D my 5km pace is around 5:30. my apple watch which i used the last 2 years tells me its 45 which sounds more realistic. Edit: I got the Apple watch 10 and it now also shows an VO2max of 53.
I got a 265 for 3 weeks! The amoled screen is good until you get used to it, after, its just “normal”. I gave the 265 back and got the 955 instead! I’m happier with the 955 now.
@@newsnetworkz There is maps and some other metrics that 265 doesn't. So, just for the oled display, it seems to be better (for me) to get a better device for, almost, the same price.
@@Dcrainmaker Would love to see a photo of Fenix 7S Solar Sapphire on your (male) wrist as comparison to 265/965 when you do your follow up video on your wife’s preferences. Fenix 7S has same screen size as your favourite-sized Forerunner 745 but with a smaller case width.
Finally ordered 265 which arrives today so this video is super useful. Excited for it to arrive. if i got out running with my iphone can my headphones be connected to both ?
You can pair to both, but you can't concurrently listen to both. Meaning, you can pair it up, and have it saved on both phone and watch. But it'll only play from one device at a time.
Thanks for the video. I find the Bluetooth headphone connection a bit disappointing. It works fine indoor but connection is far from ideal in outdoor scenarios.
Higher VO2 max is not always better unless you are doing a lot of short runs and with age you will have lower VO2 max even if you speed improves so the results may be correct. Anyway, probably an overrated way to look at your health using this number alone. Low intensity does wonders for mitochondrial capacity of your muscles and should not be underestimated. Great content as usual!
Definitely agree that Vo2Max is overrated, as eventually it'll flat-line. However, in this case my training and times have dramatically shifted since November, and as Garmin uses VO2Max (rightly or wrongly) as a core foundational part of Training Status, the fact that it hasn't shifted at all seems more like something is broke (as other platforms are shifting/trending correctly).
Hey great video thanks! i am interested in this watch. I think i will find it to bulky to sleep in, can you add in time in bed time and then do a snap health scan in the morning? Anyone not wear there garmin to bed and still get most of the features?
Greetings from mexico! Great video! Its a really nice plus you showing us how to activate the flashlight hotkey! First day with my 265, Im having trouble in syncing my Garmin Coach workout, any one having this issue?
fantastic video. Maybe you (or your followers) can help me : I normally use a whoop band (I do CrossFit) , but because of the android software updates lately I cannot connect to my phone. I cancelled my whoop membership and I am looking for an alternative. I like the training load and the readiness score of Garmin 265. But how accurate is it, how accurate is the sleep tracking? Cheers
I think your videos are very entertaining and informative. I have watched your FR265 vs Venu 3 video, but I am still torn between the FR265 and the Venu 3. I don't need the call features of the Venu 3 and like the metrics of the FR265. I am not a big runner, but want to track my health and fitness. I'm leaning towards the FR265. Is there another Garmin option I should consider?
ugggh I can't tell how to choose something, you cant touch it, all the side buttons do something else, how do you select anything- what button is enter? When I press the left middle side button (that was pressed in this video to choose the watch face) - I got all my stats.
Ok - I see press and hold to see the watch face and the start/stop button is like enter/select. Figured I'd leave my comment in case anyone else has the same issue. Thanks for making this video!
I have a question regarding the Garmin Pay function. For adding the passcode, you still have to use the buttons, or it is possible to use the touch screen, like tapping on the numbers or something like that? Thanks for the answer in advance!
Bank support seems very random. In Finland, only one of the two biggest ones are supported and then some very random very sketchy issuers as well... There must be a good reason for this.
Hi Ray, This might be a dumb question. But I'm considering getting this watch. My primary activity is biking. I have a non Garmin headunit (Hammerhead Karoo 2). If I want the watch to understand my readiness/HRV status after a bike ride, how does Garmin get the data to predict these values if I don't wear the watch/ don't capture the ride? I'm thinking about getting the watch primarily for running (and possibly swimming/tri)
I would have like to see how to access the calendar training plan. I've been synching my watch but the training calendar is not showing on my watch if I want to go for my specific run on today for example.
What's the audio quality like for Spotify and does it drain the battery much? Main reason I would buy. Also can you select specific songs in the playlist and click next track or just play and shuffle?
Thank you DC great video. I have a couple of Qs if you or anyone else can help me? I’d really appreciated it. My new 265 has calorie counts on the activities that are way lower than expected, I’ve gone over my user settings and all is correctly inputted so can’t explain this? Also how do you set the Heart Rate Zones on this devise? They appear to be calculated in either watts or % of FTP 😫… I’ve looked this up but tbh…. It’s all too scientific…. Help! 🤯 I’m so used to In putting Zones based on max hr and resting hr on Wahoo/Garmin 800…. This watch seems to be in another level of science to me 😫
Hey man! I appreciate your videos! I have a question. I currently have a 935 and was thinking about swapping it for a 265. Do you think that this would be a downgrade? I like the touchscreen and AMPOLED display of the 265 and the fact that it supports pace pro and suggested workouts. It should have all the same features I think? Thanks!

Great video to see how these watches actually work. Now I know I don't need Garmin pay on my watch, paying with cash is faster.
Just got my garmin and I find it to be complicated. Keep trying to do touch screen 🤦🏽♀️. Thank you for the video.
Do you recommend getting a screen protector?
Great! Thank you! Why so many torque wrenches?
Mannn thank you!!!
Great review! Thank you very much.
I have one question though: I'm curious to know which one you would choose between 265 and 955 if the price is the same?
Fantastic video.
Is there a way to get into the settings menu without using the buttons?
What i dont like about the new the design, that it looks like i childs watch!... I liked the design of 255 because it was neutral in a way.
Great video!
How do you compare training readiness/body battery against whoops recovery metrics?
Is whoop worth the subscription of you have the Garmin?
Super great video! Thanks!!! And I too wonder about Whoop, which I’m using right now but probably not for much longer…
What's your age?
I got a 265 for 3 weeks! The amoled screen is good until you get used to it, after, its just “normal”. I gave the 265 back and got the 955 instead! I’m happier with the 955 now.
Can you tell us about the reasons why you swapped 265 with 955?
@@newsnetworkz There is maps and some other metrics that 265 doesn't. So, just for the oled display, it seems to be better (for me) to get a better device for, almost, the same price.
At this stage of the times, would you still recommend the Garmin Forerunner 255?
Wrist photos very helpful thanks.
Did your wife prefer 265S/265 to her Fenix 7S Solar Sapphire?
She's still deciding. But she's leaning more towards FR265 than FR265S. Hopefully a video next week on it.
Hello.
255 vs 265
GPS which is better?
Thanks
I think they both have same GPS chipset
Thanks so much for all the info, does this watch have the same animated workouts as venus2?
Hey do you get a vo2max for cycling even without a powermeter ?? Thanks for the video
Thanks for the video. I find the Bluetooth headphone connection a bit disappointing. It works fine indoor but connection is far from ideal in outdoor scenarios.
265S shouldn’t be a problem
When the Always On Display goes into dimmed state, do metrics on the watch face like HR still get continuously updated on the dimmed screen? Thanks.
Yes. They remove the seconds at the bottom in dimmed, but current HR still updates constantly.
Hey great video thanks! i am interested in this watch. I think i will find it to bulky to sleep in, can you add in time in bed time and then do a snap health scan in the morning? Anyone not wear there garmin to bed and still get most of the features?
I’m curious what your thoughts are on this watch now that any music app requires an extra subscription
Can you recommend a screen protector that fits this watch please?
Cheers
How do you get that cool watch face? Mine only has time, a phone & date on the face. I’ve done a soft & hard reset. It’s stuck.
I have decided to go with the Venu 3. I think it has more features that I will use for getting fit. Your videos helped me make this decision. Thanks
Can you tell how the AOD brightness compares to a MIP screen brightness indoors?
ugggh I can't tell how to choose something, you cant touch it, all the side buttons do something else, how do you select anything- what button is enter? When I press the left middle side button (that was pressed in this video to choose the watch face) - I got all my stats.
Ok - I see press and hold to see the watch face and the start/stop button is like enter/select. Figured I'd leave my comment in case anyone else has the same issue. Thanks for making this video!
I have a question regarding the Garmin Pay function. For adding the passcode, you still have to use the buttons, or it is possible to use the touch screen, like tapping on the numbers or something like that? Thanks for the answer in advance!
I am looking at comparison for fr265 and fenix, do we have something like that, cause I can't seem to find it?
Bank support seems very random. In Finland, only one of the two biggest ones are supported and then some very random very sketchy issuers as well... There must be a good reason for this.
Hi Ray,
This might be a dumb question.
This watch seems to be in another level of science to me 😫
For an accurate training load/readiness, etc, do you have to add all activities or does the 256 auto detect activities?
Thanks!
I do actually have the exact same question. Did you end up buying the 265 tho? Let me know! :)
Is there a way to turn off the auto dim feature?
