      He is the proponent of capitalism, so why can't he handle it in it's fullest form. Does he assume, that people always choose the best product or something. People are dumb, and they don't care, they judge by waht "feels right" or what has the pritiest package, its consumer psychology 101. Jordan is not a psychologist, oh wait.

      Going slightly off topic, keeping 2 or 3 favourite shampoos and/or conditioners is healthy for your hair (different brands, not the same ingredients) and alternating using them. If you have oily hair using a shampoo for oily hair is counter intuitive because it strips the natural oils from your hair so effectively your hair ends up over producing these natural oils in order to compensate, if you use shampoo for dry hair you will still have clean hair that is also soft because it's just so much gentler.

    Had a friend who used to raise show dogs. When she had a litter of pups, if she had a good show prospect she'd keep that for herself and sell the rest into pet homes. When people would come to look at the puppies she would only show them two pups. They would pick one and walk out happy. If she showed them more than two they would get confused and indecisive. If they took one, three days later they'd call and ask if they could swap it out for one of the other pups they saw. But with two, they picked the one they liked and were satisfied. When she got down to the last pet pup she would tell people she originally was going to keep that pup for herself but was so busy it was kinder to place the puppy in a home where it would get more attention. They'd scoop up the pup and leave happy. You just gotta know people to make them happy.

Then we would know it's the best and we wouldn't have to debate which one to pick. @kylaluv8453 and most people I talk to who remember the way television was don't feel that way. You appreciate things far more when they are less available and also, people shared a far more common viewing experience when we had just a few channels, so tens of millions of people would be watching the same show. The next day at school everyone would be talking about the same show that we'd watched. I also have had 200 channels and found absolutely nothing on I really wanted to see. It would be like constantly having prepared food on a huge table so you could eat anything whenever you wanted it. I guarantee you, you'd lose your appreciation for food.

      but notice that he said, you probably want THREE, not 1, so the moral of the story here is that humans shouldn't have to sift through more information than they are equipped to process. this is the difference between eustress and distress. in short, eustress is the kind of stress that's good because you have a sense that you can overcome or accomplish a thing. benching a heavy weight is a good example. it's difficult, but you know you can do it with effort. but stack on 30 more lbs than you can bench and have some real sense that you must bench it or else your life is doomed in some way and this is distress because you are engaged in an act of futility which leads to apathy demoralization anxiety and depression. the same thing happens when you are overloaded with too much information in life without the faculties or lifespan to process it.

She then asked the class to choose between vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, everyone of us gave her a definitive answer.

    • @michaelsorensen7567
      @michaelsorensen7567 Рік тому +3

      And none of them would've picked that as the superlative.
      That's even before you analyze qualitatively. For example, red button is objectively a higher quality vanilla than Kroger vanilla. It's creamier, more flavorful, better texture, and you actually get more per volume because Kroger is all whipped up with air (which you can find out by letting each brand melt). So, while someone may generally prefer vanilla to strawberry, they may prefer red button strawberry over Kroger vanilla.
      And THEN we get to preference variability. Even if you absolutely LOVE chocolate, very few people ONLY want chocolate ALL the time. Maybe today you're in the mood for something caramelier than just plain chocolate, so you get moose tracks or rocky road. Maybe today you want a single chocolate so you get fudge ribbon instead of fudge brownie. None of those variations show that you overall hate chocolate, or even that chocolate isn't your favorite, just that it's not top of TODAY'S preference.
      So how can you decide a favorite anyway? Because there are times you'll buy something other than your favorite, when you could've bought your favorite.
      It's much easier to have heirarchies and "tier lists" as it were. "this over that" is simple, as are "these are all above my good enough to eat threshold, with those being exceptional and priority if available and that bunch to be avoided".

      And I will bet you dollars to donuts it’s the same for almost everyone in that class. Maybe they can’t recall the name of that Ben & Jerry’s they really like, but they can grab it off the shelf. Maybe their freezer is stuffed with the 13 different kinds of ice cream they like but they don’t have a favorite. Maybe they are sort of indifferent to ice cream flavors in general, but out of three subpar choices they know which one they dislike least.
