Robert Plant's solo work is all worth listening to. He never really tried to replicate Zep (well maybe on an occasion or two) and has always been open to new talent and influences. RP is my fave vocalist ever.
We watched him film this, near the Pleasure Beach, South Pier and tram lines close by. Chatted for ages, readily gave autographs and posed for photos. Always a hero, superb singer and top bloke!
I was on the left hand train of the roller coaster when this was filmed. I was 16 at the time and I had no idea who Robert Plant was back then. We just happened to be waiting in the que line for the ride when we ended up being part of the video.
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool oh hi Stephen 😁 thanks for checking it out. I'm in the right hand train as we look at it at 6 seconds haha. Just to the right of the girls shoulder. I can remember that night as clear as if it was yesterday.
"I Can breathe Again says it clear. Realizing Robert lost his son, his best friend and that "band.. well, we should be thankful this guys showed everyone what real guts and character are for artist. Some of them literally bleed this stuff.
Really?Yes...Robert,Jimmy,JohnPaulJones,& Bonzo...all genius's in their own right...It was so sad losing Bonzo..I cannot imagine being a member of THAT band...& losing a dear road brother.Takes a certain wild, free ,gypsy soul to live this life...Talent comes in handy...& golden looks.
Great song but it deserved a higher chart placing it made number 45. The video is filmed in Blackpool, Lancashire. I liked big log which hit number 11 in 1983 and heaven knows which hit number 33 in 1988
FATE OF NATIONS. Will always be my favorite but his songs from videos when MTV were so great. HEAVEN KNOWS, I BELIEVE, BIG LOG...SHIT HE has never had a bad song. Great voice that rolls with the changes. All the Kings Horse's is so PERFECT. I grew up & grown old with this man. Partied w/ him in Dallas at Mother Blues & ran into him on a beach in Fl while he was grieving over His son & Bonzo. I asked nothing except to join me under the shade of a Palm tree. It was surreal but it is in my heart. 2 people who were in pain just enjoying the ocean & some sexy looks. I will always remember front row at Fate of Nations in Sunrise Musical Auditorium. Front row & I swear he kept singing in front on me. I believe he was trying to remember a younger woman who asked nothing but opened her heart & shared a hour or so just telling stories with our hearts.💙💙
I love the whole album, in 1990 I bought a 90 minute audio cassette tape SONY with "Manic Nirvana" by Plant on one side and "Otrider" by Page on the other side and I still have it.
I forgot all about this song . Digging Deep Box Set brought me here. Brings back a lot of memories. Was lucky to see Page Plant twice in Toronto and Plant solo at Maple Leaf Gardens with Stevie Ray Vaughan .
If "Tall Cool One" from *Now And Zen* had announced to the world that Robert Plant had finally made his peace with his Zeppelin past, "Hurting Kind (Got My Eyes On You)" from *Manic Nirvana* announced to the world that he had embraced it. And that's a beautiful thing. 👍🏻🤘🏻🥁🎸🎤
I'm glad for this FUN surprise!! I turned right to it the minute I saw the notification. Robert looked cute in this one too, I was amazed by his choice of clothes, my thinking was, that's a Leo man for ya! Always shining brightly, naturally to be the center of attention. Lol. And he adds sexiness to his songs, and body movements, that keep me mesmerized. In this video, Robert totally let loose, with no hesitations, or inhibitions. He seemed to put his "all" into it. Very talented, using his God-given gift, all the way!!! Thanks Robert. You're a good boy. We love you!❤ I never cease to be amazed at your constant fire for singing, and making music. Nobody can stop you! Keep going brother. ✌😍🌹🌈🎸🎼🎵
I just now came back to this comment that I left here a while back. I wanted to watch this video again. And after reading over the comment again, it makes me wonder, does Robert Plant ever read these, or does he know how much we love him, and appreciate his music?
Another Robert Plant video, that I come back around for another visit! I like his choice of wardrobe. And that main model blond girl, who is she? Did he choose her, and arrange to have her in this video? What, does he prefer blonds over brunettes? Lol. It's good talent and entertainment!! Thanks, Sir Robert. 🥀
"Pretty boring"? I beg to differ. Please listen to each RP album in its entirety before you say his solo career is boring. Ummm, he worked with massive musicians, in addition to himself, a massive talent, of course. Look at the liner notes and see who's there; you will be impressed. If you listen to only one album, try "Now and Zen". That is pretty amazing, as a Robert Plant album, as an 80s album, as a great modern rock and roll album. Pretty boring? I think not.
***** Yes, I really love "Rainbow"! It's just a great one! If you like that song, please give a listen to RP's 2005 album, "Mighty Rearranger". Personally it has become one of my favorite albums of the 21st century! Remarkable work. Every song is special in some way, excellent. His band there is incredible, the production of it so top-notch. You will love it, I think. :)
Just heard this song for the first time on the radio. I just pulled over because I know it sounds like Robert Plant but it isn’t Zepplin. Wow great tune from a long time ago. The man was ahead of his time. What a voice (Tight band)
One of my favorites is 29 Palms. When it first came out. I was impressed that Robert visited my dear hometown. " I Feel the Heat of your Desert Heart". Love to meet you soneday Robert. Wish our Chamber of Commerce would name a street after you in 29 Palms..
Fun song and video. Phil Johnstone was such a bright light. I've never read a comment from RP regarding his passing. They seemed to be very close and worked together quite closely (Now and Zen, Manic Nirvana - maybe more, I'm not sure) including this song. RIP Phil - gone way too soon.
@@TheHumbuckerboy Oh, Absolutely. Robbie Blunt is spectacularly Phenomenal. Robbie's magnificently majestic acoustic solo on "Moonlight in Samosa" is my truly favorite solo of all time, bar none.

This song is a classic, all of Robert Plant's songs are classics.
Plant is criminally underrated as a solo artist
Don't use those two words together ever again

Who else is doing a retro Robert Plant solo binge? It takes me back to the 80s when I was in my early 20s

Totally 💯 agree!!! Obsessed with Planty since ‘73 !!!! He will always be my favorite vocalist 💜🎶🎤🎼🇬🇧🎵🎸
Totalement d'accord avec vous 💯😉👌
I like it too, it's different from Zeppelin but very cool.
I think he said in an interview the 80s were just him having fun and not giving a crap
Burning down one side and calling to you has a Zeppelin vibe

Who thought Blackpool could look so glamorous? Wonder if they went for the chips ‘n’ mushy peas for supper? Superb video!
"I lost my heart over here, another part over there. I still got plenty left. So, baby, I don't care!"
I "LOVE" THAT PART!!!!!
😍🥰😍😁👍
He didn't write enough of these catchy songs. 29 Palms was another corker.
I nominate Robert Plant to be in the RocknRoll Hall of Fame again for his solo career.

Mike Bacon O.B.E. I still like this song now. Just now discovered it. It’s great!
"Big log" is his best.
Robert finally got his rock voice back on this album, after years of side stepping and healing.
Well he sounded great on the earlier songs such as 'Slow Dancer' and 'Like I've Never Been Gone' and others

Even in 1991 Plant could belt it out. If Zep had survived, this is the direction I could see them go.

Kick ass song, complimented by that classic Plant wail!!
Anyone who listens to a riff like this and doesn't feel their soul scream doesn't love rock n roll.
Manic Nirvana to me is the most rocking of his solo works and the closest he ever got to his classic Zeppelin sound especially on this dynamite rocker
