Pretty big one you missed: Jason is 10. Now, 10 year olds definitely aren't the most intelligent human beings out there, but I highly doubt one would be stupid enough to wander around aimlessly through the mall and then go outside for no reason even though he knows his whole family is in the mall, and then when he sees his dad, RUN ACROSS A 4-LANED ROAD PAYING NO ATTENTION TO ANY OF THE CARS COMING.
+ZWheels ....still very stupid to make kids look like retards even when they are minor characters.(if they recognize them as people. Then maybe people will stop bitching and moaning.)
Add one sin in the beginning: Ethan brushes his teeth, THEN drinks orange juice. Whether one likes the game or not, that's just wrong on so many levels.
I thought of that too when I first played but I didn't really understand how private investigators worked so I assumed he got like a report of it from the police station. Like, potential kidnapping of the origami killer, Shaun Mars, or something. I was hella suspicious but Scott's thoughts never indicated he was the killer so I brushed it off. Btw, a killer would definitely be thinking about events around their murder/potential murder, they wouldn't be thinking about making omelettes right or how Lauren needs to be safe. Fucking stupid. I kinda wish the whole thinking thing wasn't even real cause now it's take me outta the game. Like, Scott knew someone was listening to his thoughts or something.
@@samthelion3925 true but at the same time he has done this murder plot for two years straight he is probably used to it and doubts anyone will catch him.
@@sebastianriz4703 Well like, remember in that one scene where Lauren says they should cross examine the list of people who subscribe to origami magazines and the list of something else (Sorry I forgot, it's been so long.) And Scott KNEW she would find his brothers name on both lists. She even ran outta the room all excitedly when she thought of the idea and he was like "L-Lauren!! Wait!" Like he was worried for what she would find, but he didn't think about anything during that scene. Not at all. It's so stupid.
@@samthelion3925 yeah that part and the moments where Shelby lies to his own mind to trick the players is pretty dumb. Although othertimes where he wasn't lying to himself, he is probably just used to this whole murder thing.
Another thing I noticed a little too late is that they all have freak outs, but Scott's is mundane asthma while everyone else has a unique combination. Ethan has blackouts and fear of crowds, Madison has insomnia combined with PTSD from witnessing a war, and Jayden is both a drug addict and suffering from his ARI shades.
Jason Brody No kidding. in fact, if the origami killer has been killing kids for so long that it "crept up" on the police, then how were all the trials still in good working order?
27. A well known side effect of the dead child is that it most likely leads to severe depression and a divorce. Divorce costs money. Depression can cause the inability to go on working, or reduces one's creativity and imagination which Ethan clearly relies on to work.
This. And if you go upstairs, you can find his architectural drawing from the beginning filled with dust, which can be interpretated as that he hasnt worked since then.
@@fightingmedialounge519 I don't think that can be counted as a sin, there are plenty cases where people just can't seem to recover OR do the thing they should do (whether they know it or not) Further in the game I think it's absolutely clear that the did prioritize his still living son than his own safety and that should speaks plenty volume.
@@crosselen9766 two things. I never said he prioritize his safety over his son, but that he seemed to prioritize his grief over his son, and while it is true that grief can ruin ability to accomplish tasks, normally that lead to you loosing kid to another guardian; which Ethan doesn't have to go through.
JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON JASON NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
There's a glitch that makes him say SHAUN over and over til the end of the game. Even cuts off other dialogue so he can scream shaun 😆 look it up it's hilarious
I tried to have him killed by missing all the qtes but scott can never dies in any of his danger scenes, he can get shot 4 or 5 times but he never dies
RC the death of a child puts a lot of strain on a marriage. she would’ve blamed him because he didn’t keep an eye on their son and ultimately led to him running off into the street. it’s really not that unrealistic
Why does nobody realizes that Scott is "investigating" to get rid of evidence? And him being a private investigator makes the most sense for all of the questions? And he's investigating Kramer to keep Lauren off his scent?
That is great and all, but then Shelby has some 4th wall breaking power. "I better have thoughts about wanting to solve this investigation, because the player is listening and he/she can't know that I am the Origasmi killer!"
DNA is only helpfull if you have a sample of the suspect you can test it against. As far as we know, the police never took Ethans DNA. If the police knew the guy was a drug dealer, there's a chance they just wrote it off as a drug related crime and didn't investigate that hard. It shouldn't happen, but it does.
Another one is that he saiys, when you ear what he think, that with the rain he have more attacks.. But in the game he walks with rain most of the time.
At 33:17, during the news segment where the Origami Killer's identity is revealed and a photo of Scott is shown... how did they get that photo and why would someone frown at the camera like that? It's not like he ever got arrested while he was alive.
Can we add the fact that shelby was looking for a father that would sacrifice himself, but it was heavily implied that other fathers died doing the trials and their sons were still drowned? One of them is even in the tunnels for the butterfly challenge
Another ridiculous plot hole yeah. If he really wanted to make sure these men would sacrifice themselves for their kids and still be able to save them, he would have made all of the trials like the last one - not actually deadly. He just liked killing people and tried to justify it stupidly. David Cage is terrible at writing anything psychologically involved.
Yeah, it would have made more sense if the fathers who died had their sons were set free but the fathers who didn’t had their sons die. That would make sense and be something weird from the start of the game.
Cthulhululu Yeah, like, isn't the fact that they died enough for him? I can try to understand why he would want to see a father actually going through this challenges but unless it's something like refusing to cut their finger or drink the poison, i don't see how dying makes them bad parents.
I think that the other father didn't try as hard as Ethan to save their son. For example: The father of Lauren's son didn't care and just left, and the cashier seemed too depressed and too stupid to understand the origami killer's clues.
It really bothers me that anyone would even suspect Ethan Mars on the basis of such flimsy evidence. It's completely possible to be interested in origami without being a serial killer; the fact that there are 47 origami shops within 1 mile of each other shows that there's probably more than one person who likes origami. Also, Ethan was comatose when the killings began 2 years ago. The game never brings this up as a method of obviously proving his innocence. In fact, once the doctor mentions it during Ethan's psych visit, it never gets brought up again.
There was only one origami shop. I think you mistook that for the flower shops that sell orchids. Although you are correct about the timeline not fitting with Ethan's coma.
@@Hello83433 I mean the fact that someone was able to open a whole store dedicated to origami and have enough patrons to stay open says enough about the amount of people who like origami in that city. Lol.
Not to mention someone who is constantly in the news called "The origami killer" would inspire countless people to take up origami. It would become popular.
And also i swear they said the origami killer be killing for 8 years. Its pretty impossible to kill that many kids in 2 years considering how the murders are based on the weather. (Plus shelby wanted to take ethans son after seeing ethan jump in front of the car to save jason so why the hell did he wait 2 years to do so?)
@@poffzy Plus if Ethan was the origami killer why didn't he do that to his sons way earlier? The killings would have already been going on at that time anyway so it really doesn't make sense.
Believe it or not they had a entire storyline plot point that actually made sense involving the blackouts. But unfortunately they cut it from the game. Basically when Ethan dove in front of the car to save Jason he somehow made a psychic link with Scott Shelby, who was in the audience at the time, so whenever he had blackouts what it actually was is that he was instead having visions of the environment he was standing in becoming flooded with water until everything became submerged under the water. Ethan would swim around in the water going through the memories of Scott from him as an adult all the way to him as a kid with paper origami and orchids floating around in the water all collmunating in him coming across the dead corpse of the newest victim of the Origami Killer only to later find out that the kid he saw would be the next victim. And just like in the game he would eventually come to standing at carnaby square with a origami figure in his hand. They unfortunately cut these scenes from the game late in development and didn't have time to rewrite the story making what was a well explained plot point become a plot hole.
They cut that part from the game because they thought having magical psychic links was stupid. And they were right. The plot hole is better than stupid magic shit.
I’m curious what the game would’ve been like but it would have been shit for sure. Magic and mystery does not go together well. I was disappointed with David Cage when I played the game. His other games were so much better. The blackout plot hole is one of the biggest reasons why the game’s story is ass. Thanks for the info though!
The thing Shelby is investigating is the copycat murder. Someone killed a child in kinda the same way Shelby does, but he knows of course that he didn't do it. So he is trying to find out who is copying him, under the guise of investigating the Origami murders. And it is Gordi, who is the copycat - that's why Shelby has that whole storyline with Kramers son.
No he's just trying to pretend to investigate the origami murders so that the victim's families would give him all the evidence that was left over and then he would eventually burn it all as you saw in one of the final scenes so that none of the murders he committed would be traced back to him.
I think he's investigating this because if someone is copying him, he might want to find out if they got any evidence on the real killer and what they know about the real one.
@@Steve-qv1ss yes, if that was all be was doing why would he go through all the trouble of finding out info on Gordy and killing all of his fathers bodyguards if he knows he did it. Gordy's father even admits that he killed one child by drowning him.
@@eea7551 I know the 'Why?' of what he's doing but the way he goes about it is beyond stupid. Everything he does makes sense as a regular private investigator but as a killer covering his tracks he made some terrible and illogical choices. And, of course, there's his thoughts. Why the heck would he not be thinking about the murder he just committed or the fact Lauren might catch him? He doesn't have multiple personalities or any mental disorders that impede his thought processes. He is shown to be in full control of all his mental faculties. I thought it would be revealed that he was the boys' father trying to atone for he and his son's mistakes. Him being the killer was cool at first but after I thought more about it it was handled in an incredibly stupid way.
Actually the 2 male leads (Ethan and Norman) are voiced by English actors. Madison was voiced by an American and Blake was also an American actor so I can only assume the continued incorrect pronounciation of 'origami' is due to bad vocal direction or they didn't really give a shit.
swifty64 I think its because they were trying to do some sort of New York/Boston hybrid accent. The scenery where Ethan lives after the divorce is pretty clearly made to look like the Bronx to me.
What really happened was someone trademarked the name Origami much like TFB trademarking the word "Reacts", everyone else decided sure let's just go with it while the one person had normal logic and went, that is stupid you can not trademark a word and so ignored the trademark. At least they where not saying it "Or a gummy".
Another sin for the counter: Virtually anybody in the game can die and not be present in the final scene except for Lt. Blake, the guy so cartoonishly over-the-top in how bad a cop he is that he might as well kidnap Ethan's childhood sweetheart and tie her to railroad tracks for no reason.
Drag0n slyzr David Cage probably thought making the killer playable was a genious and new idea, but it turns out there's a reason games don't do that. Hard to make the twist work when you can literally hear the guy's thoughts about being invested in solving the mystery.
@@matti.8465 It would have easily worked, had they not done the "hearing the character's thoughts" thing. They could have had Shelby go through the motions with everything, cut the parts where he obviously commits the crimes and then showed them later. And voila, it works. Requires intellect, though.
The only thing I have to say is that the reason Shelby is trying to "find the killer" is so he can cover up his tracks and frame someone else. Which would also mean he is thinking of dropping the murdering business all together. Unless he wants another dead kid to show up in the headlines months after Gordi Kramer has been arrested.
During the mall scene, I followed Jason to the T and actually there’s a glitch in the game. I saw Jason standing in the crowd, and I kept trying to talk to him, but he was never supposed to be there. I live streamed this, so I literally looked dumb af circling the area where Jason was standing talking about the game glitched out so I can’t talk with him. Frustrated I walk outside the mall and then bam cutscene. I was pissed, if Jason is supposed to be outside then delete the Jason standing in the mall when he lets go of the balloon.
Somehow, the game with the undead wendigos attacking horny teens at a ski lodge is more believable. Maybe it took that one girl forever to take a bath, but at least her motives made sense!
I think Until Dawn is a lot better game than any of the David Cage games. It even handles subjects like mental illness pretty maturely. The only problems are too much fake jumpscares in the beginning, and Emily's character.
Avery Mitchele I did like her more towards the end of the game though, especially during the mine section where she shows her intelligence and survival skills. It's just that before that part she mostly just complains about something to Matt and starts a fight with Jessica for no good reason.
I don't know whether this has been said before but another sin is that the therapist says that he can't talk because their sessions are confidential, but he can legally disclose information if he believes Ethan is a danger to himself or to other people. When he finally tells them what he knows, it's clear that there are hints Ethan is the Origami Killer (drowning bodies, origami etc) so it makes no sense why he doesn't tell Blake and Jayden.
The characters trying to pronounce “origami” is ironically hilarious, considering how important origami is for the plot. “arigamy”, “ahreegamie”, “origarmy” etc. However, Gordi not being able to pronounce origami is a pretty good hint for the audience that he is lying about being the origami killer. Shelby is investigating the murders because someone copied him. Shelby considers this a great opportunity to blame someone else for the murders Shelby committed as the origami killer. Shelby is however helping Lauren to find a lot of clues that point towards himself being the killer. Which seems very counterproductive if that was his plan.
a weird fact here is that, whule it was cut, Ethan was supposed to be psychicly linked to Shelby and, every time Ethan blacked out it was because Shelby was doing something. I forget the exact detail, but that's why Ethan was supposed to be having black outs.
The game had a ton of potential, but the voice acting made it impossible to get immersed. Also, having Shelby be the Origami Killer just betrays the way you play the game.
Yeah exactly it is not twist, it is BS. All that Shelby's inner voice talking about finding the killer is total inconsistency. Game has a lot of logical issues. I cant believe most of the people like this piece of crap.
I honestly loved this game. My only issue is the first couple hours were really slow… but I kinda like how it was built up just wished it was more fun during the beginning. As for the voice acting I thought it was nicely done except when the lines the actors were given were terrible
1) The funny thing is Ethan wants to shoot Scott for revenge with the gun that he uses for the murdering trial after everything Scott does to him *but only* if Jayden and Madison are dead or they couldn't find the warehouse's adress. If one or two of them manage to go to the warehouse, he *strangely* doesn't think about shooting him. For Scott he respects and thanks Ethan *only the ending* that Ethan is the only person that manages to go to the warehouse but he clearly has no information about Jayden finding out the truth about him or Madison surviving from his burned house. However during the Ethan&Norman or both of them and Madison manage to go to the warehouse endings, he *strangely* wants to finish Ethan. Apart from that, it may be acceptible for him wanting to shoot Madison if she is there with Ethan. But him wanting to shoot Ethan in that ending too doesn't make sense. 2) Blake and his crew don't find the warehouse if Ethan and Norman or Ethan and Madison manage to go there. But if the trio or only Ethan manage to go there, they *somehow* find the warehouse.
Slight correction, Ethan does actually shoot Shelby IF Madison are the only ones there. At the end before Shelby Is about to throw her off, Ethan shoots him from behind if you succeed in your QTEs with Madison. Of course this then adds another idiotic inconsistency by the fact that Ethan doesn't show up if you fail Madison's QTEs even though that should have no effect whatsoever on what Ethan does...
Another thing: An origami figure, plus shaky eyewitness testimony from two unreliable sources, one of which dislikes the suspect, and the other was beaten into testifying, would not get an arrest warrant for Ethan Mars. No judge would sign on that. That's not conclusive evidence, and any halfway decent lawyer could get Ethan acquitted from that. AND ANOTHER THING, if Jayden or Madison aren't present at the final confrontation, then The Killer never pulls a gun on Ethan. It's literally JUST thrown in there as a cheap way to add tension. And also, all physical afflictions are completely forgotten about in the second half of the game, with the exception of Jayden's drug addiction. Ethan's blackouts? Just stops having them. Shelby's Asthma? Let's fight in the rain, that won't be a problem at all! Madison's insomnia? Literally only present during her introduction. Never present at all later in the game.
Honestly, Indigo Prophecy made more sense than this because it was supposed to be bizarre and rife with end of the world craziness. Heavy Rain is a mess of discontinued plot threads and red herrings that only work from our audience perspective.
Amazing, a game about 3 killers who have such similar names: the Origami killer, the Origamy killer, and the Origarmi killer! David Cage did a great job on that. But I still wonder what happened to the Origamy and the Origarmi killer after the Origami killer has been defeated.
Shelby was angry at the dude who watches cartoon while 2 girls doing their own thing because he has a reason of doing those murders; finding a father who can save his son and the other one impersonated him and didn't have a reason.
No mention of the lack of jokes about how a glitch in the JASON scene can lead to the prompt not going away, thus allowing you to JASON all over the place.
I expected a sin for how Jason got across the street without getting hit by a car the first time, he had to have looked out for cars the first time, so why no on the way back?
21:02 the drugs worked literally immediately, since she just drank it there's is not enough time for the stomach to digest that immediately for the affect to happen.
5:46 I've seen a play-through of this game. So, I can say with 100% certainty: Forget the rest of the characters, give this guy his own game. Instant Gold Mine!!!
I was just thinking about this: Jason & Shaun have absolutely zero depth to their characters; they literally just exist to be traumatized & killed. And because of this, they indirectly make Ethan look grossly incompetent as a parent, and thusly make him a bit of an alien when it comes to relatability. I can't empathize with Ethan & his plight at all because he lost *both of his kids* under very manageable circumstances; the dude's a moron lol.
I mean he took the hit for his first kid and God himself must have smited that child because there is no reason for him to die unless when Ethan jumped and tackled into him, he smashed his kid's head into the ground with the force of 10 thousand pounds.
I wouldn't call him incompetent for the death of Jason, buuuut why the heck didn't a _ten year old_ know better than to run across a busy street?! That's something you teach your kids at 3 or 4 years old, to never cross the street without looking both ways. Jason was far too old and should've known better. Both parents must've failed to teach him this.
As a person whose mother tongue is french, I hear no difference between the "wrong" and the "right" origami prononciation. Except for the "origarmy" one. This one wasn't even close.
+yoshi2402 the wrong one pronounces the "a" the same way you would if you were saying le chat and the right way pronounces the a the same way as if you were saying fromage I know very little French so that's the best way I can explain it
That's because phonetics in English suck. They have their own alphabet just because of how inconsistent the pronounciation in English is, and most of the accents are so subtle it's sometimes hard to feel the difference.
The 200-something sin "Where did he get that taxi?" is because if you were to escape the cops from the motel Ethan would steal it from a taxi driver. As for everything else on this list... YES.
So much David Cage hate everywhere. While sure, it's not the best, I still enjoyed the game for what it is. But jeebus, JAY-SON!!!!! That was pretty silly.
because he's an egotistical and lazy writer. and worst of all, he's racist, sexist, and who knows what else and it comes through heavily in his games whether people want to acknowledge that or not. he thinks so highly of himself and has such a grandiose self-view of his storytelling capabilities, that he tries to write topics that he has no business writing because he is either hopelessly and/or willfully ignorant of the complexity of such topics. his stories, as a result, end up being insensitive and offensive at best and irresponsible and dangerous at worst.
@@milannoelle1576 there is no such thing as topics you shouldnt write, we have freedom to make whatever we want. you sound like one of those journalists talking about kara's deviant scenes endorsing child abuse...

As a psychiatrist... you can share information if they are at risk to themselves or others or to property. Furthermore, if a patient says he wants to kill himself, that's an automatic involuntary lock up in a psych crisis unit.
Companies should hire this guy to check their games for sins. They most likely won't change much but can avoid a bad story and some other loopholes lol
NS Beats Honestly no. Cinema and game sins suck because they really arent doing actual game criticism, whether they realize it or not. Their videos are based on comedy, and actually they miss a TON of details and/or focus on A LOT of meaningless shit especially in Cinema Wins.
It’s also easy to figure out Scott’s the kill because he’s the only character who can’t die from failing QuickTime events cause he’s has this thing called plot amour
One more sin orchids don't have pollen that floats in the air the pollen is deep in the flower which is why Scott had to carefully grow them since orchids are a pain to grow
That sex scene and all the writing is so terrible. If you turn it down, like I did because why would he even be capable of wanting to bang anyone when he knows his son is about to die, Madison is like "Boohoo. How could I think he'd ever love me?" David friggin' Cage. And the worst part is this is still his best game.
This bothered me as well. Shelby looks older than 44. I thought that perhaps Shelby was going to be revealed as the father of the boys. The other major thing that bothered me were the black out scenes leading you to suspect Ethan was the Orajamy Killer. It doesn't make sense under the story presented and was a gratuitous red herring. That said, it was still a good game.
The math checks out though. The current year is 2011 in the game. It was 1975 when John died according to the grave. That was 36 years, not 30. That means they would have been 8 when John died.
@@MrHous26 The reason Shelby looks older that 44, is because when they made the game, they modelled Shelby after actor Sam Douglas, who at the time was 52.
Not only that, they sound a lot younger than that. Then again, considering the way Jason acts like he's 4 instead of 10, I think that David thinks that all kids bellow the age of 16 have the intelligence of a 4 year old.

Did anyone else noticed that Jayden in this game was basically the human version of Connor from Detroit Become Human? Both are detectives with an AI that assists them in their investigations, both were assigned to help the local police solve an important case, both are skilled at fighting and their look and even voice are very much alike
Yeah Jayden is basically what a human Connor would be like and even their stories are similar. Both are far better than the detectives they're forced to work with, get bullied for no reason by a rude, asshole detective, end up realising that they're on the wrong side and end up saving the other characters by arriving at the last second.
@@lilchaos9212Don't you compare Hank Anderson to Carter Blake. Blake is a psychopath who obviously hates his job & jealous of Norman Jayden because he has more efforts in the case & Blake just points fingers at anyone that can be a suspect without further investigation. The scene were Jayden & Blake went to Ethan's psychiatrist explain it alot the fact that he saw an origami figure being given by the psychiatrist that said fell out of Ethan's pockets he immediately accused Ethan it's obvious that he just wants praises & couldn't care about the job or giving it proper justice. Meanwhile Lieutenant Hank Anderson a lieutenant in Detroit become human may have anger issues but you can clearly see that he actually cares about his job. At first he hates investigating deviants androids that has emotions because he thought that an android killed his son by accident during operation what he didn't know there was a human doctor on the influence of drugs that did the surgery causing his son's life. Now lieutenant Anderson maybe alcoholic but atleast he cared you can even see his frustrations if you fail to capture a deviant while Blake dosen't care that Ethan the wrong person may rot in jail for the crime he didn't commit while the serial killer is still on the lose.
can't believe there wasn't a bonus round for the number of times Ethan yells Jason, the number of times Ethan yells Shaun, or the number of times people mispronounced origami.
About the "did they not think to get Shaun to a therapist" comment: my parents were a LOT worse. I was seven when I saw my brother die in a hospital bed, and because no one wanted to explain what the FUCK was wrong with him medically to cause him to be hospitalized in the first place, I became an anxious germophobe until I was thirteen when I started reading SELF HELP BOOKS. The first time I saw a therapist was when I was fifteen, for my anxiety (which was kickstarted by having no clue why my brother died), and my parents didn't give a shit, despite both of them having gone to therapy over my brother's death. All in all, real parents also make the mistake of thinking they need therapy, but that their other children don't. I was a bit like Shaun trying to cope, but instead of drawing pictures, I wrote my will and testament. Really. A seven year old writing things like "if I die, give my stuffed squid to my friend, Chris, and give my books to Sarah." And my parents did not think that was unsettling at all.
Although I feel you're right that parents can be selfish and not realize their mistakes, I think in regards to heavy rain, the writers didn't think about the idea that Shaun may need therapy or had a scene where Ethan's ex wife or maybe Ethan's therapist recommend Shaun get a therapist and make Ethan realize he's being more of a selfish prick than he already is. (Seriously, "I have no reason to live" while having Shaun is pretty messed up.)
Ethan is basically a carbon copy of my mother in that regard, and it's probably the writers' faults, it still works as characterization. We can have dumbass parent characters because they're just as realistic as doting or overbearing parents. I forgive the characterization more than I do the shoddy character interactions, such as the random sex scene and "I thought you cared about me" directed at a woman he just met. The writers just sort of expected players to ship them or see chemistry where it wasn't there.
My biggest problem with this game is the horrendous camera angles in the game. There are quicktime events that I miss because the camera angle is totally wrong, or it'll tell you to "go to the bathroom" but you're in a building you've never seen before and you can only choose from two shitty camera angles, neither of which show the place you're meant to be going.
Also it seems really convenient that Ethan’s son died around the same time that Shelby started murdering kids considering the two events are not related
One thing to point out: Shelby points out that the letter was typed with a typewriter. We know now he's the origami killer, but until that point, it was still pretty ambiguous. However, he still had a typewriter on his desk when he told Laura that fact.
After Detroit I have to revisit this if just to say that David Cage has slowly been creating detective characters until the ultimate amalgamation of all of the best qualities was transferred into Conner and David Cages mission was complete.
i was more surprised at no sin for the doc and crazy gangsta scenes being EXACTLY the same? i mean, both of them offed an FBI agent before that and both try to kill our heroes after they lose consciousness. not to mention the entire fucking FBI doesn't give two shits that two of their boys have gone missing in action
What, when did 'Doctor Death' kill an FBI agent? He said that the man said he came to talk about the census, and he assumed that it was a government spy. :| It's never mentioned that the man actually was an FBI agent. Also, when you find the skull in Mad Jack's acid bath, he says 'One of your *_cop_* buddies askin' too many questions. I had to solder up his little mouth.' While it could possibly be assumed that there had been another FBI agent there, Mad Jack explicitly says 'cop'. It's more likely that one of the Philadelphia officers went there and was killed by Mad Jack. Now, that death not being investigated by the local precinct doesn't really surprise me. The game depicts them as particularly incompetent.
VenomousSoliloquy Draws Incompetent my ass... this is the US, not some freaking third world shithole. You just don't walk around killing people with nobody investiagting this. Maybe I would give them a pass for offing a hooker or an illegal but no death of a cop, no matter how low in rank, would go unnoticed. Same goes for the guy who said he wanted to talk about the census. The census, so he was sent there by the government, worst case scenario by the mayor's office. Again, somebody would have looked into it. I'm always willing for some suspension of disbelief when it comes to fiction but not when it comes to a story that tries to hammer it in your head how life-important and realistic it is. Any second-hand writer can think up a thug murdering cops and getting away with it without even trying but it takes some skill to actually conjure up some valid _reason_ for him to be getting away so easily.
yarpen26 Do you not know what the word incompetent means? I'm saying that the way that they are depicted in the game is downright ridiculous. Therefore agreeing with you. But you said that they 'killed two other FBI agents', so I questioned how that was possible when there was no information implying that they were actually FBI agents. I simply stated that one is mentioned to be from the census, and the other is mentioned to be a cop. I never said it was realistic, or that the way this game presents the characters/concepts are realistic. The game does, however, paint the police force, numerous times, as being extremely, exceptionally incompetent. And also corrupt. (ie, police captain gives no fucks that Blake beats the shit out of suspects. _"Which is more important, Norman? Finding little Shaun Mars, or sparing that lowlife a few bruises? You can't make omlettes without breaking a few eggs."_) Regardless, not trying to defend the story or the depiction of the police and the killers at all. I'm fully aware of how unrealistic it is, believe me.
It might not be perfect, but I'd hardly call it his 'worst' game. It was, in my opinion, a decent plot and interesting characters with good acting. Beyond:Two souls was far worse if you ask me.
+Pʀɪɴᴄᴇss Gαвríєllα The shoddy gameplay with no indications as to what you're supposed to do, the overdone action sets with no relevance whatsoever, the inconsistent and anticlimactic ghost story plot and the most forced love couple-story ever. That enough? If it isn't, I have more to say about why Bexond: Two Souls is complete and utter shite compared to Heavy Rain.
+timmy fisherman I'm not your son, and yes, the acting is good. Not great, no, but the voiceactors mostly do their best. I admit, Gordy Kramer is hilariously over the top and psychotic, but the rest are fine.
+darklord884 One's "best" isn't always good enough. The acting in the game was passable, often horrible. Maybe they didn't have enough time for retakes. Maybe the voice director was bad at his or her job. In the end, it doesn't matter. The lines are forced, ill-fitting, and waffling in their adherence to the scene's tone. The plot is absurd, as the video pointed out numerous times. I can't imagine what more it takes for someone to say it's a bad game.
If you let the robber shoot the store owner, the owner will tell Shelby that he had wished he could live to the day where he would look into the eyes of his sons killer (while Shelby is directly staring into his eyes) which obviously foreshadows the plot so hard and gives away the killers identity before the reveal.
Considering the massive plot holes, I'm wondering why I've heard this game praised as much as I have. There's literally nothing clever about the reveal that Shelby is the Origami Killer.
With everything Heavy Rain does wrong, it can easily be considered the quintaessential Casual Game, one you can let your grandparents/elders play along with. There's a reason why many people feel a connection with this game. And pound-by-pound, it's cheaper than a TV show, it's trying something new, and it's catering at very particular audience, mistakes and all. It's easy to figure out. But 'real' gamers are too busy bashing the guy. Games like Heavy Rain, Until Dawn and Detroit are, for some people, their first experiences with gaming. Much, much better than Netflix in my opinion.
You had to be back when it first was released. It was VERY format. Also the game style at that time the controller PS3 controller was like a wii remote

That thing about Shelby knowing that Shaun was missing when it wasn't public yet was clever; I never noticed that but valid point lmao.
@@sebastianriz4703 Well like, remember in that one scene where Lauren says they should cross examine the list of people who subscribe to origami magazines and the list of something else (Sorry I forgot, it's been so long.) 27.

You can buy inhalers for infants and toddlers at pharmacies.
I don't think you can call it a plot hole when dealing with a psychopath. Of course he isn't following logic and reasoning.
Cthulhululu
Yeah, like, isn't the fact that they died enough for him?

Can someone say who it is?
Erm, Peter Pan?
No. have you ever seen peter pan running around with a chicken above his head? XD
I disagree.

I always took it to be that he was trying to pin all his murders on Gordi

Madison was voiced by an American and Blake was also an American actor so I can only assume the continued incorrect pronounciation of 'origami' is due to bad vocal direction or they didn't really give a shit.
the actor who plays the origami killer is also english
They're trying to pronounce it like Americans from Boston or something that's how it sounds to me. Whenever i watch a film set there it hurts my ears.
CoolIce Sam douglas is american

@@maxdurk4624 it does, but really not the way they talk sounds like it. I can say that bc im from, and still live in the bronx
Real reason he became a killer: He was sick of people mispronouncing 'origami'.
What really happened was someone trademarked the name Origami much like TFB trademarking the word "Reacts", everyone else decided sure let's just go with it while the one person had normal logic and went, that is stupid you can not trademark a word and so ignored the trademark.
At least they where not saying it "Or a gummy".

There should have been a bonus round for orgimay paco and whatever american word these piss porr actors couldnt do.
Chris Gorman origarmi
I think this just shows that Scott was the killer because he was one of the only characters the pronounced origami correctly.
If Jayden dies then he dies too cause of Ari

The only thing I have to say is that the reason Shelby is trying to "find the killer" is so he can cover up his tracks and frame someone else. Which would also mean he is thinking of dropping the murdering business all together. Unless he wants another dead kid to show up in the headlines months after Gordi Kramer has been arrested.
Exactly right Josh
Yeah that makes sense.
+Eero Lång Until Dawn best david cage game that was not made by david cage why would it be
Eero Lång Emily is one of the only characters I can actually stand besides Sam. though I understand why people hate her.
Avery Mitchele I did like her more towards the end of the game though, especially during the mine section where she shows her intelligence and survival skills. It's just that before that part she mostly just complains about something to Matt and starts a fight with Jessica for no good reason.
***** yeah pretty much same for me,, but when you think about it they are all assholes, except fro Sam and maybe Chris.
Because, otherwise, Blake wouldn't get to punch someone and reinforce the 'bad cop' to Jayden's 'good cop'?
Because the guy is clearly not a good therapist.
Hell given the reaction you get if Ethan says he's suicidal I'm convinced he's a quack
It honestly would've made so much more sense than what they left
The game had a ton of potential, but the voice acting made it impossible to get immersed. Also, having Shelby be the Origami Killer just betrays the way you play the game.
I'd love to see it remade in 2020.
The faces were amazing too.
Yeah exactly it is not twist, it is BS. All that Shelby's inner voice talking about finding the killer is total inconsistency. Game has a lot of logical issues. I cant believe most of the people like this piece of crap.
The "Jassson" voice over killed it for me.
Of course this then adds another idiotic inconsistency by the fact that Ethan doesn't show up if you fail Madison's QTEs even though that should have no effect whatsoever on what Ethan does...

i mean with some minor changes -- and some of the cut content it would be an epic plot twist
The voice actor that did Nahman Jayden probably watched one Mark Wahlberg movie and thought he nailed the accent lol
Never present at all later in the game.

hmm that guy who inspired me by diving infront of a car to save his son wonder if he'd die to save his son
No mention of the lack of jokes about how a glitch in the JASON scene can lead to the prompt not going away, thus allowing you to JASON all over the place.
is there a link to a video where this happens? i wanna see!
SnivyTries aahh man I ABUSED that 😂
The SHAUN prompt at the warehouse as well.
I expected a sin for how Jason got across the street without getting hit by a car the first time, he had to have looked out for cars the first time, so why no on the way back?
even funnyer is what happens when you go to the door before jason
"No, I won't use an umbrella. My son died, I deserve to be wet." Why is that so funny?
'cause it's true in David Cage's universe.
21:02 the drugs worked literally immediately, since she just drank it there's is not enough time for the stomach to digest that immediately for the affect to happen.
It takes minutes before passing out when you drink the drug.
5:46 I've seen a play-through of this game. So, I can say with 100% certainty: Forget the rest of the characters, give this guy his own game. Instant Gold Mine!!!
4 years later but he’s still my favorite character lol
that is just DBH if you kill all character but conor of
"IT'S ORIGAMI, YOU IDIOTS! GET IT RIGHT!" lmfao! I loved those parts.
SHAUN !!
SHAUN
DONKEY!! LIQUID! !! SNAKE !! BROTHER!!
TETSUO!!!!
CHRISPLAYER 95 LIIIQUID!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOO
I was just thinking about this:
Jason & Shaun have absolutely zero depth to their characters; they literally just exist to be traumatized & killed. And because of this, they indirectly make Ethan look grossly incompetent as a parent, and thusly make him a bit of an alien when it comes to relatability. I can't empathize with Ethan & his plight at all because he lost *both of his kids* under very manageable circumstances; the dude's a moron lol.
Personally I think Ethan gets his empathy from losing his kid/s and risking it all to save Shaun.
You forgot to mention that Officer Shelby is a discount John Goodman.
"Paco finally got that lap dance" I'm glad I'm NOT the only one
The 200-something sin "Where did he get that taxi?" is because if you were to escape the cops from the motel Ethan would steal it from a taxi driver. As for everything else on this list... YES.
So much David Cage hate everywhere. While sure, it's not the best, I still enjoyed the game for what it is. But jeebus, JAY-SON!!!!! That was pretty silly.
same i actually loved the game despite all its flaws and looking at this video makes it more entertaining and funny
because he's an egotistical and lazy writer. and worst of all, he's racist, sexist, and who knows what else and it comes through heavily in his games whether people want to acknowledge that or not.
he thinks so highly of himself and has such a grandiose self-view of his storytelling capabilities, that he tries to write topics that he has no business writing because he is either hopelessly and/or willfully ignorant of the complexity of such topics. his stories, as a result, end up being insensitive and offensive at best and irresponsible and dangerous at worst.
@@milannoelle1576 there is no such thing as topics you shouldnt write, we have freedom to make whatever we want. you sound like one of those journalists talking about kara's deviant scenes endorsing child abuse...
That's not what he was saying spartan. He was saying David cage shouldn't be a writer.
6:31 in the "manor" that he did. so he died in a house? I believe you mean "manner" sir. *ding*
32 tb memory card? Holy shit, I don't even think you can get that today let alone when this game was released!
What would you even need that for? Making a 2 months uncut vlog?
A gaming sins channel that actually uploads
TRIK CLAN grade A material at that
As a psychiatrist... you can share information if they are at risk to themselves or others or to property. Furthermore, if a patient says he wants to kill himself, that's an automatic involuntary lock up in a psych crisis unit.
I imagine you would still need evidence if them being dangerous. Not to mention the under duress issue.
This simply isn’t true.
Back in the 7th grade me and my friends would run around the hallways screaming "Jason!"
Companies should hire this guy to check their games for sins. They most likely won't change much but can avoid a bad story and some other loopholes lol
It would not be the same thing without sins
That’s a huge stretch. He sins a lot of nit picky things
It only works obviously in David Cage games
that means they have to remake a lot of part which means more money
NS Beats Most of the sins are things that you actually need to sit and think about. They aren’t something you usually notice when playing through it.
How could I think he'd ever love me?"
David friggin' Cage.
And the worst part is this is still his best game.
wow
E-Man5805
No Beyond: Two Souls is
I don't think I've ever felt more awkward during a sex scene in anything after seeing that lol.
Yeah...I thought kiss meant kiss. Not bang right there on the nasty hotel floor.
E-Man5805
David Cage wrote a character that reacts negatively after being denied sex and passed it as a natural thing? Geeeeez...
23:42 So Shelby aged 44 is looking at his brothers grave, whom died 30 years ago... but in the flashbacks they look about 9 or 10... not 14
This bothered me as well.
The "doorknob in the middle of the door" must be a french thing. I've sure as hell never seen it before, and I'm (northern) european.
i'm western european and we do have thoose, but not doorknobs,we have handles, you just push the door with the key anad once you turn the key you gotta ''click'' the key,it's a weird mechanism but it works
The funny thing is is that my name is Ethan and I also have a fear of crowds. I'm not making that up.
It was pretty obvious Scott was the killer. He was the only one who pronounced origami right.
Shit, I think he did in one scene
I actually like Heavy Rain, still one of my favorite games. Well, this Video is Gold and I can't complain, good work here.
EDIT
I cannot believe you didnt sin the multiple endings ^^
+Mac Maizer I like Heavy Rain, as well. Sure, it has its faults, but it's still an overall enjoyable experience.
+Mac Maizer I probably wouldn't like your taste in video games.
Vince Shadell because of this one game? FeelsBadMan
Mac Maizer calling Heavy Rain an "overall enjoyable experience" is being incredibly generous
Vince Shadell diffrent tastets (sorry, bit of drunk) you dislike it, I like it, get over it
I ... Actually like how everyone had a "problem" is one of the things i actually loved of the game
Did anyone else noticed that Jayden in this game was basically the human version of Connor from Detroit Become Human? Both are detectives with an AI that assists them in their investigations, both were assigned to help the local police solve an important case, both are skilled at fighting and their look and even voice are very much alike
And both of them are more efficient than the police on their own.
Meanwhile
Lieutenant Hank Anderson a lieutenant in Detroit become human may have anger issues but you can clearly see that he actually cares about his job.
Actually you should bandage burn wounds. What you shouldn't do is bandaging it tightly.
can't believe there wasn't a bonus round for the number of times Ethan yells Jason, the number of times Ethan yells Shaun, or the number of times people mispronounced origami.
scott briefly smiles when he tells hassan that the origami killer has captured another boy
Shelby? Wtf? I thought The Institute took Sha- Oh wait wrong missing Shaun...
Isabella Regaldo Yes. And Fallout-Shawn is even more worthless and annoying.
How did you miss the worst part? It was raining for days but when Madison talks to Ann her room is filled with sunlights. WTF?
For real! I noticed too 😂
(15:57)
Silly Gordi. If we got rid of the clown, this game would have been over before it even began.
The angle could be because they want to make it more difficult for the player.
that really was the worst part I agree
Ethan’s Rorschach test also has the option of “shadow” which is the worst possible response to a Rorschach test since every test is in black and white
Also it seems really convenient that Ethan’s son died around the same time that Shelby started murdering kids considering the two events are not related
One thing to point out: Shelby points out that the letter was typed with a typewriter. We know now he's the origami killer, but until that point, it was still pretty ambiguous. However, he still had a typewriter on his desk when he told Laura that fact.
it is a diffrent typwritter ----- Shelby had 2 typwritters -- the royal 5 was next to the pc in the secret rome
the amount of times they mispronounced origami as origamy, i was expecting a bonus round.
After Detroit I have to revisit this if just to say that David Cage has slowly been creating detective characters until the ultimate amalgamation of all of the best qualities was transferred into Conner and David Cages mission was complete.
I'm suprised he didn't give the game a sin when Madison could easily escape from the old man. Seriously, is he that bad at tieing knots?
Lol, if you think about it, this comment is so right!
i was more surprised at no sin for the doc and crazy gangsta scenes being EXACTLY the same? i mean, both of them offed an FBI agent before that and both try to kill our heroes after they lose consciousness. not to mention the entire fucking FBI doesn't give two shits that two of their boys have gone missing in action
You can't make omlettes without breaking a few eggs."_)
Regardless, not trying to defend the story or the depiction of the police and the killers at all. I'm fully aware of how unrealistic it is, believe me.
It might not be perfect, but I'd hardly call it his 'worst' game. It was, in my opinion, a decent plot and interesting characters with good acting. Beyond:Two souls was far worse if you ask me.
+darklord884 good acting??? :///// really?
cmon son
***** EXACTLY
If you let the robber shoot the store owner, the owner will tell Shelby that he had wished he could live to the day where he would look into the eyes of his sons killer (while Shelby is directly staring into his eyes) which obviously foreshadows the plot so hard and gives away the killers identity before the reveal.
Oof
Considering the massive plot holes, I'm wondering why I've heard this game praised as much as I have. There's literally nothing clever about the reveal that Shelby is the Origami Killer.
Lady Marmalade A lot of things are stupid but you can still enjoy them
With everything Heavy Rain does wrong,
it can easily be considered the quintaessential Casual Game,
one you can let your grandparents/elders play along with.
There's a reason why many people feel a connection with this game.
And pound-by-pound, it's cheaper than a TV show, it's trying something new,
and it's catering at very particular audience, mistakes and all.
It's easy to figure out. But 'real' gamers are too busy bashing the guy.
Games like Heavy Rain, Until Dawn and Detroit are,
for some people, their first experiences with gaming.
Much, much better than Netflix in my opinion.
Horus SC The worst garbage series on Netflix is still better written than Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls
You feel true sympathy for the characters thought thats why it works.
You had to be back when it first was released. It was VERY format. Also the game style at that time the controller PS3 controller was like a wii remote
This part is the best.
Norman: I’m here to see Packo.
Guard: Paco?
“Actually, he said Packo.” 😂😂
Scott says the letter was typed with an old typewriter. *camera cuts to old typewriter on Scott’s desk.
Sleeping with Madison. That's sinworthy given the context
A kid gets killed by a slow-moving car. The driver doesn't go to jail.
