It's so nice watching you work so intuituvely to produce such exquisite canes, Teresa. I have learned that being able to work intuitively comes from *lots* of practice with the basics. Once you've started mastering the basics, you can more easily go with the flow and not get hung up on techniques, etc. I realize I need wayyyy more practice with the basics! Again, love watching such an intuitive master at work, and so delighted you generously share your talents with us. Thank you!!
What a marvelous tutorial. Clearly described, yet encouraging individuality. I will happily direct anyone interested in learning about caning to this tutorial. Thank you for sharing!
You also answered a question... more a dilemma I've been having. And I AM SO HAPPY! I love that you explained that one does have the freedom to modify as the piece evolves! I also find it boring to keep doing the same things. WOW am I glad I found you! Thx again... Anjela
It would be great to attend a course. However these videos are great for those of us who want to cane but can't attend classes. Either by physical or location restrictions. Both apply my case, I live overseas in an area where these classes don't exist. Physically I have mobility issues. For people like me, your videos are simply wonderful. So thank you.
Hi Teresa. I am developing a real interest in caning and you are such a master at this. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and creative process. Very inspiring!
Brilliant Tutorial Teresa, I made this with different colours(just left overs, really), yellow, brown, black and white and it turned out a treat. Thanks for your easy to follow teaching skills. :) I put slices on one of my woodworking pen kits as they are brass inserts and do not warp when heated, then glazed it. There is no end to what you can do with them.
Teresa you are so.... comforting. I love your teaching style. You and Cindy Lietz are my favorite. Thanks for sharing your passion. its very..... inspiring. hugs
Really enjoyed the tute! I'm always trying to "add in" or "fill in". I liked that you have actually removed some clay and THEN filled it in. Very crisp looking! Great tute!
Thank you for all your tutorials, I've learned so much from you. This one is so pretty, and although I only watched the video this time I can't wait to try out this process. I've tried to make my own canes and there always seems to be something lacking and I'm thinking that I just need to start thinking outside a bit more and not be so rigid. It's people like you that make this whole learning process so much fun, it's so obvious that you love what you do.
You are AMAZING!!! And I love your teaching style. I've watched hundreds of instructional vids... and YOU'RE THE BEST! I can't even believe it! Top notch in all aspects! Your work is fantastic... gorgeous! Pleasant, professional voice (you didn't say "UM" once!), and good rate of speed. Would love to know how you do this PERFECTLY with such ease! LOL! Really... unbelievable! Thank-you so much! 💙 Anjela
I really admire your work and teaching style. My wife and I just discovered Polymer Clay. We make different things, but polymer clay will work for both of us. I will be sharing this video with her at our next work session.
Wow!!!!! I've watched a lot of polymer clay videos for creating figurines and fantasy type things but never like you are doing here. This is BEAUTIFUL!!! I love the colors too. I think I will be watching all of your videos! I may try this effect to try to get an abstract dragon skin! Very nice work!
That was so wicked cool. I'm just wanting to get into playing with clay. I have chronic pain and have found that working with things like this and needle felting it soothes me and takes my mind off the pain so I feel better afterwards and have something fun and pretty to show for it. I love your tutorials and can't wait to see more.
I left a message on your video tutorial on how to make a Tile Stretch bracelet. Had to share the 'Whoopee' news that I make one and all the holes worked perfect (using your method of putting a hanger wire impression on the bottom portion before setting the design top over it). I've broken my 3 try attempt at a tile bracelet that all ended up as earrings or pendants. Thank you-Thank you.
I've seen a few of your videos and must say you're really good with what you do. I really like all the various patterns and designs you come up with. Fantastic!
So glad your back! I missed you. Love your cane.got distracted because I was admiring your nails to. Both beautiful. Got to try the cane and I'd like to put lime green instead of black and white .
Hi Teresa. Just wondering if you could still post the links for your polymer clay courses please? I am very much a "newb" and would be interested in taking one of your courses. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful talent for us to learn from.
Hi Teresa this cane is so beautiful but I don't think I can do that. Arthur fingers stops me but it doesn't keep me from admiring your work. I have been missing you I'm glad to see you back I will keep looking for you and your pretty work.
wow! I love this! It makes me think of Jon Andersons complex caning which I greatly admire. I would love to become as proficient and creative as your work here! I know it's ambitious because so far I have only created about 10 pieces, lol, but it's inspiration such as your attention to detail and imagination that inspires other artist to push their limits. thanks!
Gosh Teresa, you are SO talented, and I am such a clutz. I do make a nice mixture y'all call mud though. Joking aside, I am new to the polymer clay world, do make a lot of MUD, but believe me when I tell you, I TRY. I love your tutorials and hope one day I can make a decent cane.
I would like to see how you make such a large perfect square of skinner blend. I know how to make a skinner blend, but yours are so big and perfect, that I'm trying to imagine how you fit it in your pc machine? Is your machine bigger then mine? What brand is it? I like to see it step by step feeding it through. Like it often gets too wide for my machine. And yours in couple if videos look like a perfect 8x11" piece of thick paper!
I love your work and I would to taste it with fondant. I want to decorate my cakes with this. I come from germany and my english is not so good. Sometimes I don't understand what you say but I can see it. Thank you for the great video!
Forgot to tell you I like your new work space. I finally got my table cleaned off and organized again. Took all my energy so haven't made anything yet. Just 17 more hyperbaric treatments left then hopefully will get some bridge work so I can eat again. It's been 1 yr. since I've chewed food. So sick of protein powder and ensure. Tried a feeding tube but it's awful so getting it out next week. Check out KCPC guild. I used to belong, going to try to go to get together sat. And make Bottles of hope to take to K.U. Cancer center next time I go to Dr. I'd love to try to make this cane to put on a bottle. I bought some little bottles from science surplus. Is this to much info? Just glad to talk to you. Your so sweet and talented, I feel like your my good friend.
This is amazing. Do you have a link as to how you made the graduated colors that you used in the jelly roll, and how you made the black and white block?
Thank you Teresa, Beautiful work as always and so creative!! Question: on designs such as these, do you draw them out first or do you just go with what's brewing inside you?
Beautiful work! I'm just wondering, how can you make such a wide skinner blend in a pasta machine?! Is there any trick for this? Thank you for this great tutorial!
Hi Teresa - I've tried doing kaleidoscope canes and they NEVER work out. They end up smooshing all together and have no drastic defining lines! What am I doing wrong?
+Lori Farrell Hi Lori, I see that Teresa hasn't had a chance to answer your question. She mentions using peacock blue and that is a Premo color. So my guess is she used premo.
Have I ever told you you remind me of a hippy chick - not one in particular, but like the present day you should have been there. You'd have fit right in. I grew up with women like you, forty-fifty years ago. Nice to see you; keep up the good work.

Eileen Gavin Larsen thank you for your kind words. ♥️

What a marvelous tutorial. Clearly described, yet encouraging individuality. I will happily direct anyone interested in learning about caning to this tutorial. Thank you for sharing!
I like the serendipitous motion... adding in certain shapes, colors for accent or even an insertion!! Thank you for the inspiration!!!
You also answered a question... more a dilemma I've been having. And I AM SO HAPPY!

Beautiful.
Thank you Teresa, Beautiful work as always and so creative!!
Question: on designs such as these, do you draw them out first or do you just go with what's brewing inside you?
I start out with colors and shapes in my head, then go freestyle.
Awesome!!

+Lori Farrell Hi Lori, I see that Teresa hasn't had a chance to answer your question. She mentions using peacock blue and that is a Premo color. So my guess is she used premo.
+UrCocoaTea thx, I should have caught that.

You rock.
Awesome
