This is a new hobby and yours is the best tutorial I have seen. I'm not an artist, but a recently retired scientist trying something different. Your video has inspired me to pump the brakes on the art and first study the theory. Thank you.
Kaylana your knowledge is amazing. I was transfixed during this tutorial. Thank you for not only demonstrating the method but actually giving up lessons on theory. I feel like I just walked out of a classroom 🤓
This is absolutely brilliant and gorgeous! I wish everyone would explain this process better! Thank you so much for doing that. I will be able to actually make one tomorrow. Wow.. this is direction I can live with plus teaching me a few things I didn't know and I was doing all wrong. ✌️❤️ I've noticed that people make canes all different kinds of ways. It's very interesting. I've subscribed to your channel because I seriously enjoyed this one. I have only been claying under a year but I love it!! I hope you have a great day!!🤗
every time I am amazed . every project of yours is fantastic. I think you are so good ,so skilled at what you do. I absolutely adore your work. thank you very much for teaching us. we are blessed einat
Wowzers! That's so neat the way you make your tutorials easy to follow. My 13 yr. old granddaughter watches them with me so I'm glad you caught yourself before using "them words" 😀 Truly remarkable work! 👍
Thank you! Yes, I thought about that, there are a lot of kids and teens who like polymer clay, especially for the charms. I still thought it had a lol value
I really enjoy this tutorial. I keep watching because soon I’m going to make it. I just have to decide colours and clay. Thank you for your teaching, you are very good at it and explain everything so well. ❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰
Wow this is quite perdect. For me is a technique that needs a lot of practise but neverless i will try. I love the way it looks Thank you for this instructive tutorial
You are just too freaking cool. I am too stubborn not to learn to do this!!!! I am determined. Thanx for the tips about mixing clay and making sure you have it warmed up the same. I never thought of that. I wish you would talk so I could listen and see as I do it with you. But thanx for anything Stay safe in these crazy social isolation days hun!
Thank you so much for this video. I'm not a beginner, but I've had very little luck with canes lately. I knew the problem was reducing. The tips you gave are wonderful! I can't wait to try them out for myself. I lost my confidence, but after watching your video, it's starting to come back. I really needed this!
Fabuleuse cane avec toutes ces possibilités incroyables , je suis encore en admiration devant ce superbe travail , je te le redis tu es vraiment super douée et il n'y a que toi qui peut créer une telle merveille !!! merci et bravo Bisous Sylvie
Wow! I'm just starting to learn about canes and you took a lot of the mystery out them for me. Thank you for that. This is a wonderful ttutorial and I appreciate all of the time and thought that went into it!
This is a beautiful complex cane!!!!! I love how you explain all the parts to creating the variations you can achieve with these types of canes . . . thank goodness I passed geometry in college LOL this is on my bucket list! :D
I am amazed at how perfectly wonderfuly you manipulate the cane you are working on, also I thought (until now) that canes should be stored in much much smaller sizes!
Oh, absolutely not! You store them as big as possible. They need "warming up" if you want to use them after a while of being stored, and you warm them up by reducing. If they're already reduced....
Thank you for this tutorial, I had bullet came and was wondering what to do with it.. Now I can try this out with my colors and see how it works.. again thank you
I wish you were talking to explain this cuz a lot goes over my head. I have a hard reading and watching at the same time. It looks so interesting and like something that would be helpful if I could just wrap my head around it. Words would be helpful. But thank you for the video. I’m sure most people benefit from it. It’s very nice of you to talk about all of this. I love canes but I don’t exactly understand them.
It is rather on the soft side. I just let it rest a bit between reductions most of the time or put it in the fridge for a bit. But if you use the trick with butting the ends on the working tile, you should do just fine. You see I barely have any clay loss.
I use premo and sculpie polymer clay, and if you have the same problem I used to have which is the clay being too firm, store it in a container, and knead it for a bit. If it’s too hard either store it in a cold place or let it set for a bit before using it. Also, I think @Kalyana Design Tutorials mentioned in the beginning of the video, make sure to use the same softness of clay all throughout your work!
You don't need a pasta machine to make perfect skinner blends. I made skinner blends without it a lot of times - and especially when I have to control the width I usually do them by hand
You ARE amazing,, I am new to all of this and I am interested..I thought math might be involved thank you so much for sharing,, I am waiting on my pasta machine, so i can start making stuff..
At the beginning of the video after you layered the colors on the white and used the roller what did you do to get the blends in the next part? Did you fold it & run it through a pasta machine? I'm confused because I've never seen Skinner Blends made that way.
Of course. And that is a way of making a Skinner blend. I only posted links to my Skinner blend tutorial in the video description and in the cards because showing the whole blending would have increased unnecessarily the duration of the video.
Very good looking cane.1st thing that stokes me is that the many professionals I have taken classes with all use different brands in the same cane. 2nd your explanation takes all the "fun" out of caning and makes it seem like work. Maybe check out some other master camera for better ways to communicate.
debra souther it is a very nice cane and a great explanation of caning. She is also correct, scientifically correct, that the different clays move differently. Now let me get to the reason I felt the need to reply to your comment. One of the problems we have in the world is that some people do not understand or were never taught that you must do the work to have the fun. I am going to assume you didn't mean to imply that Day doesn't know what she is talking about, or that she made it boring or that you are such a small person that you have nothing better to do than troll her channel.
Tonya Mulitalo I wasn't tryinh5to "tool". Constructive criticism only. Just very different from some of the bigger names in polymer clay world that I've learned over the last 6 years.
❤ Such beautiful control and patience with the form of reducing. Brilliant tips. 😊
Thank you! 😊

You have so many tips and tricks and technical information that I didn't know. Great tutorial!
Thank you!
Brilliant Day. Thank you so much for an explanation that even a "cane klutz" like myself can understand.
Aww thanks Lawrence!
Wow!!! You explained that so well and easy to understand 💖💖💖

I love it! The line 'kids might be reading this' - HA! that was funny...:) Thank you...
Haha! Glad you liked it! Thank you!

Glad to hear it!

You are welcome and thank you for your kind words. But if you don't mind me asking, what bullet?
I call the cane that is rolled up a bullet cane... as it is in the shape of the base of a bullet ( a gun's bullet base)
Oh, I see! It was the typo in "cane" that threw me off! That will teach me to answer before I had all my morning coffee lol
I loved this, thank you so much - it's a great cane!
Thank you!
Absolutely marvellous! ❤️
Thank you so much!
Вау! Супер калейдоскоп! Очень полезное видео! Спасибо за схемы!
спасибо, Юлия
Que maravilla de formas. Me ha gustado mucho.
I ABSOLUTELY KNOW A REAL CANE/ROCK STAR OF CANING!!!
Spectacular tutorial, thank you! Thanks for the math too 🤣
Haha, thanks!
EXCELLENT video! Thank you!!

Maybe you should go watch the playlist I have put together, "basic canes"?
Wow! You must have majored in math. Way above my head!
Haha, no, actually I'm quite bad with algebra. Geometry, including multi-dimensional geometry, on the other hand....
What a fantastic demo and you've made it look so easy to get all the variations - thank you so much.
By the way, what clay are you using?
Caroline Harvey I think she mentioned Pardo in the description. 😊
Thank you, Caroline! It's just plain ol' Premo
Kalyana Design Tutorials Goodness! I always find it too soft for canes - and I'm in the UK where it's hardly ever particularly hot!

Thank you! Not that I have any merit in that, lol
