    Great video! I humbly suggest putting the differential shims in two ziplock baggies with oil. Then zip tie them to the side bearings they belong to. The shims are a little bit harder to get started when putting them back in...and it makes a little bit of a mess...but they go in nice. The oil helps them to stick together. This is a benefit when working on your back in a driveway.

    Back in 80’s. I made a tool to install inner seals. A piece of All thread, 2 nuts and too washers. The part that holds the seal was a slice off of a
    small piece of pipe welded to a washer then I drew it in with the nut and all thread. Worked in jeep dealership.

    Good idea in going with both U Joints (while you are there) as only doing the one that was bad just doesn't seem like the correct methodology when the labor is mostly already being paid for. Sure wouldn't be the smartest thing to do in not buying the second U Joint and a month later, its time to. Love those nylon tie straps with the "Christmas tree" to secure something down.

    • @sidvis7235
      @sidvis7235 7 місяців тому

      @richardl4556 That's what they taught us in trade school . Makes sense, as it's the amount of force you apply per foot of the wrencn or lever you're using, hence pound feet (pounds per foot). The metric equivalent is Newton Meters, same format. That said, I've never ever heard Pound Inches but likely it would be considered technically correct. The measurement of torque is Force times distance. But either is acceptable according to a website I just consuted. 😄

    What I've got at work for using a 3/4 drive socket like that , is a 1-in pipe with a 1/2 to 3/4 adapter welded on the end of the pipe. That way the socket stays on the pipe the whole lot easier to keep it centered that way. I'm an industrial mechanic and we use our 3/4 sockets to seal drivers all the time.
