  • Just my thoughts having ridden the bike for 2 hours.
Don't be fooled by the horsepower numbers, it's a good little bike.
    Can be de-tuned to A2 (48hp)
Low ish seat height , 815mm.
    220 mile tank range
Handles well and is fun to ride.
Brakes are OK and the gearbox is fine in manual mode, quick shifter was a bit clunky, but it is a new bike.
Bike would be good for those not wanting full crazy power! Has enough power to have fun.
The f750gs could handle a bit of light off roading , ie gravel, but it is a road biased bike, good for commuting and travelling long distances .
The bike as tested , UK RRP is £10,900, which is the TE model, plus comfort and tour packs and the Triple black paint
Many thanks to The Mansell Collection

I’ve just got my second 750gs, previously had 1200’s then the 1250 and actually find the 750 fine even two up. Added the screen from the 850 adventure and a few other bits. The new one comes with the M Endurance chain and the quick shifter on this current bike is very smooth. I preferred this to the 850 due to the front wheel size. Even though it’s only 77bhp if you look at performance it’s only half a second slower to 60mph than the 1250. As to use never bought it to go off road but Moto geo on UA-cam did take it off road and said he preferred it in some ways to the 850, as to mine the previous one went to Spain two up with luggage and did a 3000 mile tour without feeling it wasn’t enough.

I've had my 2022 f750gs Triple Black for about a year now, 2,000 miles and I really love it. Plenty of silky smooth power. . Super flickable and light feeling in the twisties, handles awesome..I personally think this is the best looking middle weight adventure bike on the market. I did replace the stock pipe with the overly huge can with a nice aftermarket pipe and much smaller can. I also immediately put on a Madstad windscreen, much needed on the Hwy. All the hand controls and TFT are 1st class German made and very functional and look and feel extremely impressive. Im always getting compliments at stop lights from this BMW, Highly recommend bike, couldn't be happier.

Mine is now on 20k miles / 32k km all from new (2019) and absolutely agree! Feels like a slightly bigger mountain bike off road, mega easy for London commuting and comfy on two-up motorway tours with luggage. Wunderlich windshield makes it better on motorways. Little bit of corrosion on engine casing parts, but drivetrain is incredibly smooth. Quick shift is super smooth, getting better with miles. Been dropped a couple of times, no problem to pick up :) Flat torque curve makes it super simple to ride without needing to shift all the time too! BMW vario panniers and top box been permanently mounted for all 20k miles, still in great condition & watertight despite the couple of drops. BMW ConnectedRide app works well with GPS prep mount and TFT screen, you can fully control map on your phone via the scroll wheel making long tour navigation simple. Get about 200 miles range at 70-80 mph cruise. Will be keeping mine for as long as possible!

LoL reading these comments. I purchased my anniversary bumblebee 2 1/2 years ago. I now have 44,000 klms on the clock. I put knobbies on it and took it to Cape York Penninsula, through creek crossings, awful sand and bulldust and slippery mud. Earlier this year I rode it along the Birdsville, Oodnadatta and Innaminka tracks. More sand, more gravel and more dust. The bike performed beyond expectations. No it's not a 650cc off road bike but it will cruise at highspeed on shitty roads all day long and reward you with the twistys. A fantastic all rounder.

Years ago I started with 750 GS, then I upgraded to 1250 GSA which I still ride. The 750 was a great starter. It thought me everything I needed to learn. It was so forgiving to my riding stupidity. I remember it as an old friend who lost contact.

Great review - thanks for posting. Picking-up my brand spanking new F750 GS TE in a few days time. Don't plan to do any serious off-roading, just the odd track or grassy area when moto-camping. A bit further down the line, mods will include taller screen, re-locating the GPS, engine protection bars, quick-shift protector and racks for Kriega soft panniers.

I spent a week on the 750 gs doing my Direct Access and loved it. Bought a Honda cb500x which has been brilliant but have always had a yearning to go back to the gs because of its torquey flexible engine and comfortable handling. Unlike you though I've only ridden a handful of bikes so it was hard to compare. Bought a 2 year old TE last week with all the trimmings and love it.
However, at just 5'9 whilst I can flat foot it like you (mine also has a low seat), I'm terrified of dropping it as I still find it a bit weighty and a bit top heavy and have already had a few close shaves in dodgy lay bys and off-camber car parks! Is it just a matter of getting used to it do you think or would I be better with a lighter lower bike?

    • @gsd32i
      @gsd32i  Рік тому +3

In my humble opinion I would say it is a matter of getting use to it . I had an Africa twin before my GS and that was definitely top heavy and that made me concentrate when throning slowly . Huh, check that 🤔 front is only 19 inch rear 17 inch. About to put spoked on mine, progressive touratech springs for the front. Let me know if you ever want to compare my 2021 TE to the 2022 one. That can't be the TE spec as it doesn't have the TFT dash, TE stands for full spec on that particular model, definitely not a commuter, it is a good touring bike did 2.5k miles in a week on mine without an issue, easy to handle with plenty of torque all through the rev range, mansells will soon be able to adjust the ecu on the bikes, as Greg is having his 1250gs done. I'll be getting mine done to map it to the 850gs model

Hi and thanks for the comments . Commuter really was referring to road biased bike . But you can see I had fun on the little 750. The TE model definitely does not come with the TFT screen . The bigger f850 has the TFT as standard . Overall I thought it was a great machine and like I said you could do many miles in comfort just like you did , good effort that 2.5k. When I took it back to Darren I did say that I was surprised how good it was , yup U have a cracking little machine their . Ecu mapping, interesting 🤔. Just pulled the pin on a new SC project exhaust , can’t wait to fit that . Certainly would like to try yours with 21 inch wheels . My brother in law has the old f800 and loves it . Ride safe👍

You think 77hp is weak? Really?? That is a lot, to me. I ride G310GS which has 34hp, and I routinely hit full throttle every gear, which gives me max speed of 99mph. I must be getting old, when a 750 cc bike with approaching 80 HP is a "little bike". Don't people remember when a Bonneville or a Norton Commndo was a big bike? I have the predecessor to this bike, a 2010 F650GS (the 800 cc parallel twin), and it certainly is not a small bike, physically, though it IS relatively light, has a low CG with the under-seat gas tank, and beautiful road manners.. BMW does make some odd choices for a road-oriented machine - why does the low, non-adjustable windscreen make sense here?
What is not discussed here is the change from a 360 degree crankshaft in the older bikes to a 270 degree crank in the newer 750's and 850's. This gives exhaust note on the newer bikes more of a bark, and I believe more torque. Likely this is why the horsepower rating does not tell the whole story in terms of power delivery.
Having said that, even on my bike (rated at 70 HP), I do not have problems keeping up with traffic or overtaking when needed.

I grew up with the likes of the Gpz900R back in the 80's when big bikes were seen as the thing to have and that mind set stuck with me. Agree 100% that engine power now is not the whole story by any stretch of the imagination....I would like to try BMW's new f900 when that hits the dealers.👍
