The cardioid mode on these subwoofers is designed to couple subwoofers in a manner that has a base reduction on stage and a boost out towards the crowd and you achieve that by setting one of the same brand and model subwoofer wherever you would like it but have the cone facing towards the crowd and then stack the 2nd sub on top of it or to the side flipped 180 degrees and the one that's flipped should be set to cardoid mode. The more you know.
the Cardioid mode only works if you are running the subs in an array. all it does is reverse the polarity. if you only have the one sub by itself (not directly next to any other subs in use) it will not make it perform as cardioid.
Thanks for the review :) but you didn't explain cardioid mode properly - it is used when multiple subs are available and you want to reduce the bass at the rear of the speakers (e.g. to avoid stage rumble). One stacked sub of 2 or 3 is pointed 180 degrees (i.e facing backwards) to the others and it is that box only that is set to 'cardioid mode' the others are left as normal. - Essentially, phase cancellation is used to reduce the output at the rear of the stack but it does mean that you will be getting less bass overall. See the EV manual for further details.
AtlantaMusicDJ.com In addition to what Meic said: You should do some research on 'Gain Structure'. You want the Input signal to be a healthy amount reading about 0dB at the loudest peaks of the signal/song, then you set how much output you need from the amps. I personally would never go above 0dB output. Some people like to turn it up as the event progresses, in that case I would turn the main output of the mixer down to about -5dB to -10dB, then you can turn it up via the mains during the event. But still, setting the output of the speakers at your maximum desired output. Again never over 0dB on the speaker/amp for me. It doesn't make sense to have a low level input(-16dB in your video) and then add output via the amp/speaker (+..dB)
Thanks for subscribing and watching sorry no I have not used a pole mount. Wishing you the best. question for you I know djs want to hear more about gear but I was thinking of running some videos about what brides and grooms want. Would you find that interesting? Thanks again for watching. DJ Rocky
Would you think just one of these subwoofers is good enough to do the job because it’s so powerful? Or would you recommend getting two of them? I have two ZLX 12 speakers just wondering.
+Jon Tisch hi Jon very little not much just a lot of bad drivers the small amount of people that would call me sitting next to me or behind me on the road never book me they all want the $1000 dj service for $50
Oh yes you can feel it. I am sorry I know that video does not give you the fool effect that a live review would but yes it's incredibly powerful. Thanks for subscribing and watching.
Thank you for watching and subscribing it is a perfect match just remember to have your zlx turned to sub on. This way you can get the best out of your highs and mids from the zlx and your etx will take care of all the low end sound. Loved it perfect match and glad this video helped I'm wishing you the best of success DJ Rocky
Gregory Jennings Probably, we could fit one in the back of a for fiesta. But still, these subs are big and after experience, these subs aren't very good at all. I would recommend you invest in a Danley sound labs THMINI which is a 12 inch sub that goes louder than the ETX, goes as deep as an ETX, sounds cleaner than an ETX and only weighs 70lbs
AtlantaMusicDJ.com You will have to contact Danley Sound Labs to find a dealer and get a quote. You need to buy an amp for it. I would recommend the Crown XLS1000 bridged mono into it. It will beat the ETX with ease
+Richard Velazquez The coil in the driver i assume would get hot for sure as the driver can't really take the amount of power it is given. However the amp is not bad for over heating at all. I have never had any problems with overheating, i think there may be a silent built in fan
Richard Velazquez the series of speakers definitely has a fan... And the amplifier DSP has been calibrated so that at certain volumes it knows what temperature the voice coil is getting too so it knows when to back off. It also has thermal probes out the Wahoo inside the subwoofer
hi thank you for commenting sorry I did not get back to you earlier yes absolutely that is plenty of sound for 200 people more than enough sound actually you will not be disappointed in a product like this absolutely wonderful quality I wish you the best of success and don't forget to subscribe and follow I'll be giving away DJ light very soon
sorry but 181 over these subs all day....had these subs and the ETX tops and also the tops are clearly not 2,000 Watts and not to mention the woofers went bad on me twice. that sub clips early knocking the bass right off. I switch to 181 subs and k12s and never been happier and the sound is way better. not knocking EV but EV has disappointed me and have not lived up to what they claim what their speakers can do...if they did I would of stayed with EV and not QSC
are you serious- i was about to sell my speakers for 15" tops and the 18" woofer- i have 40 k-12's- i was just about to sell them but now- you have made me think....
anyone with half a brain knows that the 2000 watts advertised is PEAK power. not program power. there's a difference. and the 181's won't even come close to that at peak.
I had the same problem on my brand new 15etx tops. i found the amp came faulty from the factory so they had to replace the amp. and never had the problem again. and etx are the beast of the stage. i use 4 etx15 tops for a wedding over 1000 people and the volume is on half

+Devin Stepp thank you wishing you peace
Yep. You need two to make it work.
The more you know? Like how to spell base? It's bass.
I just bought me a pair of those. I can’t wait to see them. Nice and very good review too with a lot information.
Yo mad respect for being really formative on the video

@@grazen321 this pains me so much when people don't get this. It's so important for getting the most out of your speakers.
You explained it well.
This is an amazing review.

Great review. Just wondering, have you used a pole mount with these bad boys and the ETX 35p yet? Is that even a good idea?
Thanks for subscribing and watching sorry no I have not used a pole mount. Wishing you the best. question for you I know djs want to hear more about gear but I was thinking of running some videos about what brides and grooms want. Would you find that interesting? Thanks again for watching. DJ Rocky
Does it have the 20mm thread to screw in my subwoffer pole??
Would you think just one of these subwoofers is good enough to do the job because it’s so powerful? Or would you recommend getting two of them? I have two ZLX 12 speakers just wondering.
You could survive with 2 12 zlx but I would recommend purchasing a 18 etx or even a 15 etx the sound will impact the event in a positive way.
It is recommendable for places outdoors?
So hard to choose between this and the qs118 from qsc.
MODE, MODE, MODE. You got it once. It's not MOID.
Great sub!!
Do you get much business from the van with advertisement on it?? Just asking.
+Jon Tisch hi Jon very little not much just a lot of bad drivers the small amount of people that would call me sitting next to me or behind me on the road never book me they all want the $1000 dj service for $50

Acabo de comprar el paquete completo que son las dos ETX 35p y los bajos de la misma alguna forma de hacerlos trabajar y que den los máximo
why didnt u just turn ur phone up 90% instead of playing with the volume on the sub
AtlantaMusicDJ.com i Need some help.... i Have the etx 18sp and the zlx 15p ... can you tell me wich Settings (Frequenz) you have on the zlx an etx ?
Christian Sellig You should do 100hz on both.
Loved it man! Thanks! Could you feel it in your chest?
Oh yes you can feel it. I am sorry I know that video does not give you the fool effect that a live review would but yes it's incredibly powerful. Thanks for subscribing and watching.
AtlantaMusicDJ.com I'm buying one in august then!
AtlantaMusicDJ.com Also, If I was you I would never cross it over at 150hz, It's always better to cut it off at 80hz or 100hz. It sounds much cleaner
Daniel Graves cool thanks Daniel
AtlantaMusicDJ.com No problem, keep it up man
Great review, how did the zlx12 hang with the sub?
Thank you for watching and subscribing it is a perfect match just remember to have your zlx turned to sub on. I decided to get the EKX18sp for weight and portability reasons b/c its just me transporting my equipment.
Your the best man
Thanks
Got mine today and it is a beast.
+Daniel Graves Do you think it can fit in a 2014 camry
Gregory Jennings Probably, we could fit one in the back of a for fiesta. But still, these subs are big and after experience, these subs aren't very good at all. +Bum Lover So you don't recommend these subs? How do they compare to the QSC KW181?
i heard these subs get hot? is that true or do you have that problem? i heard they have no fan? lmk?
+Richard Velazquez The coil in the driver i assume would get hot for sure as the driver can't really take the amount of power it is given. However the amp is not bad for over heating at all. I have never had any problems with overheating, i think there may be a silent built in fan

i like these demos where the guy doesn’t know what most of the functions actually do lol
MOID....lol
Its just a face value review as I stated. God bless
Thank you.
hy if i have 2 zlx15p and 1 zlx 118p is enought for a 200 people weding

EV’s clipping comes in early. I’ve read that the early clipping can push 6 more db before actually clipping
