What always struck me about this movie was how it answered a questions I've always wondered. Basically, there are two groups in this movie: Shawn and his buddies, and his ex-girlfriend and hers. I came to the conclusion Shawn's group represented those isolated morons in zombie survival games where you wonder, "How the hell did this asshole survive this hellhole?" Well, Shawn and his buddies are that answer. His ex-girlfriend is basically the player character in the same game.

Shawn is actually quite *capable* and he has flashes of brilliance.
But Ed and the other satellites are pulling him down.
If Ed had died his life would be 100% improved vs about 50%.
And judging by Eds behavior Shawn is gonna always be one toothy slip up away from destroying the UK and perhaps the world.

I don't think Yvonne is Shaun's ex they're just friends from their wilder, younger years. She's supposed to be the complete opposite of Shaun and their group for comedic effect as she mentions just having bought a house and being a grown up, something Shaun hasn't done yet. Shaun just muddles through life whilst she's taken charge of hers but by the end of the film Shaun has found a modicum of success and taken charge.

Few Fact's about this movie. 1. George Romero loved it that's why Simon Pegg and Edger Wright are zombies in Land of The Dead. 2. David's death scene is almost the same as Captain Rhodes in Day of The Dead but David also has his arm's and leg's torn off and 3 The idea for this came from a TV show with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost called Spaced where Simon Pegg's character dream's of fighting zombies after a night of drinking, drugs and playing Resident Evil 2.

Shaun of the Dead, to me, was also the most believable zombie plague movie.
If they put it in the USA, Fox News would say the plague is a "far-left myth" until the couldn't, then they would blame the "liberal war on religion" for invoking God's wrath, albeit in newspeak. They'd flame the CDC for their "far-left agenda and propaganda" for talking about the facts, reality, and science that would be in direct opposition of their faux news show. The 700 Club would have its entire fan base and support throw all their money away to make them richer, being the religious network that actively preys on their flock. The entire would start taking military action against the USA as the world super-spreader of the disease because the USA could not stop its nut cases from overwhelming its science, medical, and rational communities.
If it happened in Russia, China, or North Korea, the insane propaganda would be the same as it would be in the USA, but it would be mainstream and state funded. However, their governments would also "attack traitors" or "purge ares infected by Western bioweapons" which would be actual quarantining and culling of the infected as military operations.
if it happened in India or anywhere near them in the Middle-East, they would react as if their mythical "Rakasha" (if I spelled that right) "returned" and take swift and brutal steps to contain the infection and destroy the Rakasha (the infected).
I could go on, but you get the idea. Placing the movie in the UK for a comic thing that's that realistic was golden. Absolutely golden!

Running/Fast Zombies like in the Dawn of the Dead 2004 or 28 Days/Weeks Later Infected are a much bigger threat. And some traditionally slower zombies can be a major threat, like the T-Virus Zombies from Resident Evil who can progress into much deadlier Crimson Heads and Lickers. Or the Cordecepys/Fungal Zombies from the Last of Us, due to their production of infectious spores and growing into deadlier forms as well.

Even if they can run, bullets are fucking fast and in great supply. But if it spreads through the air and can infect as easily as the flu (as in someone just needs to breath the same air) I can actually imagine that becoming a very fucked scenario.

One of my personal favorites is that in 28 weeks later the boy at the beginning says he's coming from Sandford which is the fictional village from Hot Fuzz. The village in Hot Fuzz is actually Wells in real life. Another thing I find funny is that I live in Sanford Maine and the town directly nextdoor is Wells Maine.

I had GBS in 2016 and it was triggered by gastric flu. I also got Swine flu, MRSA, Septicemia(Caused by infected central line). The GBS paralysed me from head to toe, the only thing I could feel was extreme pain contantly, I was giving a Tracheotomy and then put in a coma for a month . Once I was finally out of the ICU I was moved to rehab for 5 months to learn how to walk and pretty much do everything else again. As of today almost all feeling has returned except for my feet which I still cant feel anything except pain. The GBS long term effects will be with me for life, such as - random stabs of pain in my body, Chronic fatigue syndrome, being wheelchair bound outdoors as I cant walk very far without getting exhausted. GBS is horrible but also very interesting with how fast the body becomes totally paralysed. My case was so bad because it had done its full life cycle of 4 weeks before doctors figured out what was wrong, had they caught it sooner they could have treated it and prevented the worst of it. Bro watching your vids has literally made the bodies reaction to viruses and such so interesting to me. Where were you 20 years ago when I coulda put this interest to good use and become a scientist of some sort. Keep ‘em coming brother. Love your vids.

Think you missed a key thing. The zombie kid kicks a football at Shaun. That does take some brain power. And originally the jogger was meant to be a running zombie going after someone else.

I watched the Host video you made. Don’t remember if it came up in my feed as I’m subscribed to you, or I searched Roanoke Gaming and saw it. It was a great video as always. Somewhat irrelevant side note, I went back and watched a few of your very old videos and it was amazing to see how far you’ve come in terms of quality and general video structure/format. In one of the videos you started with, and I’m paraphrasing here, “it’s occurred to me that not all of you have seen/played all of the same games I have so I’m going to quickly recap it for those that haven’t, if you like that format let me know and I’ll continue doing it like this.” I found that funny bc I always assumed you always did that, but I guess not lol. I think it was one of your videos on that alien invasion game Resistance. Also your production and voice quality, personality and humor really come across better and better with each video. Your channel is one of my favorites, excellent combo of movie/game recaps with interesting science info involved in a fun way. Keep it up!

Well he means unlocked and that’s honestly not as mad as you might think in the UK maybe over night is a stretch but I mean plenty can forget. I don’t know it is what it is maybe it wouldn’t be smart in somewhere like London etc

Anybody else try to learn things but when Roanoke rambles you just start smiling and listening to his tone instead of actually listening? Gosh i love this channel.

This movie is a bit of nostalgia for me. I'm somebody who loves zombie movies. However my name is Shaun and very rarely have I ever come across anybody that has spelled my name correctly. So this movie literally was made for me lol
