      I also love that their friendship is so genuine because they really used to be flatmates. Apparently for a bit of time they slept in one bed, and the comfort with each other really shows

      It's also a line in their show Spaced, Daisy (Jessica Hynes) passes the phone to Tim (Simon Pegg) and says 'it's your boyfriend' (Mike played by Nick Frost), Tim replies 'he's not my boyfriend', then answers the phone saying 'Hi babe'

    Fun Fact:
    There was originally gonna be a scene showing how Shaun got away from the horde.
    It explained that, while leading them away from the Winchester, he had to stop and wait for them to catch up every now and then because they couldn't keep up

    13:30 i love how in the movie it's hinted that Barbra got bit. When the zombie's beating the glass door he doesn't have a bloody mouth, but when shaun comes to the rescue the zombie's mouth is now bloody.

    6:42 "And the front is open... AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" kills me EVERY TIME. Also, fun fact: it's not Ed who keeps leaving the front door open, it's Shaun, you can tell because when he gets back from the shop he doesn't close it behind him and that's how the groom zombie gets in.

    One little detail worth pointing out is that at that Winchester bar scene at the beginning, Ed basically outlines the plot of the movie but in the form of a pub crawl
    "We'll have a Bloody Mary first thing, have a bite at the King's Head, a couple at the Little Princess, we'll stagger back here... BANG! Back at the bar for shots"

    No matter how many times I watch this movie, I laugh my ass off every time.
    “Take car. Drive to mum’s. Kill Phil. Take Mum, pick up Liz. Drive to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint and wait for all of this to blow over.” I can’t count the number of times I used this quote when people asked me what am I doing in quarantine when Covid was bad.

    Fun fact, there was actually a comic about Shaun running from the hoard of zombies only to realise that they were slow and he had to keep waiting. He eventually hid for some time and then went back to the pub without any trouble.

    Ed and Shaun are maybe my favorite duo in comedy movie history. They got such a great chemistry between the two and that’s mostly thanks to the real life friendship of Pegg and Frost. It’s a true highlight of This movie.

    5:49 That made me so happy. I love that James called the Telephone box a Tardis, because I absolutely adore Doctor Who.
    Also, as someone who is British, I’m so happy that James covered this film, because it’s one of my all time favourite British ‘horror, comedy’ movies, including Attack The Block(which is more of an urban realism film than horror, but it’s got death and aliens, so whatever).

    Fun fact: Simon Pegg was originally supposed to be Hughie in The Boys. The character in the comic was drawn to look like Simon Pegg. But "The Boys" took so long to adapt that Simon Pegg got too old for the role.

    The beauty of good British comedies is the total realism.
    Some of the relatable humour is scarily accurate and funny. It's possibly the thing I'm most proud of being a Brit lol.

    Fun fact in a deleted scene David actually gets his apology out and his girlfriend literally says “thank you David, that took guts” and right after that we get to the scene where hes torn to shreds (with his guts being ripped out but thats obvious), but was left out for running time and to ensure the scene would remain horrific rather than comedic justice. Ngl i totally get it cause knowing that makes that death scene comedically dark.

    This. This is the moment I’ve waited my whole life for. Edgar wright is a psychopath. Nearly every line of dialogue in this movie is a callback or foreshadow. It’s the best kind of rewatch

    Actually noticed this after rewatching for the 10th time, the part where shaun is shooting the zombies that are pouring through the windows in the pub and ed is telling him where to shoot, is exactly the same callouts shaun gives ed at the start of the movie whilst hes playing the video game, i know there is alot of reoccurring moments similar to that, its shocking how after watching the movie so many times i still pick up on new subtle details, amazing movie

    I grew up watching this movie, ever since it first came out. I love this movie, and I'd even go as far as to say it's one of the best movies I ever experienced during my lifetime. I was 4 when it first came out, and it was a major part of why I love all things spooky, creepy, and maybe even scary. It's why zombies are my favorite horror movie monster type. Every time Philip dies, I am brought to tears due to the fact that growing up I didn't really have a father, just father figures. Thank you for covering this movie, James, it means a lot to me.

      I actually thought it was a reference to Big Brother when I was younger. In the UK version the host used to say "I'm coming to get you!" after revealing the evictee. 2004 was when Big Brother was at peak popularity.
      I mean I know now that it was definitely more a nod at Romero but part of me wonders if it was supposed to be a two-fer.

      It's bitter sweet. It looks happy, but if you think too hard about it, it becomes quite disturbing. And that's a really good way to end it.

    Apparently they had a private screening with Romero and were waiting with baited breath for his reaction to that line "We're coming to get you, Barbara!" ... which, he completely missed and they were all "BUT WE WROTE THAT LINE JUST FOR YOOOOUUU".
    And yeah, Crouch End is indeed lovely .... one of my uncle's lives around the corner from that house.

      Out of the entire trilogy, I think the Zombie Ed ending makes me tear up the most. Next to The World's End ending, of course.

    God the zombie Pete in the shower scene, that scene made me need to check the shower for naked shower zombies for literal years. Seems silly now, but hey fears can be the weirdest things ever
