I bet he thinks fast-talking makes him seem in charge, when all it does it make him look terrified and weak. Pathetic, weak, small man who should never have been granted a badge.
As soon as the cop pulled up he started his tough guy attitude. And I wish people would say f*ck you and your officer safety when they bring it up. Us as citizens don’t give a damn about officer safety. If the officer doesn’t feel safe then he should go somewhere else and find an easier job. But harassing citizens minding their own business is not what we pay cops to do.
I'd wager that his wife was holding the dog in the process. No need for him to waste good beer drinking time in two kicks when he can get 'em both in one.
@@pandoratheclay My understanding is that if the right of an individual is not clearly established then the official who violated said right is immune to litigation. But the way it's used seems to me to be something more like "If the official had no knowledge of a possible rights violation then they are immune". But often it lies somewhere in between. They use case law rather than the constitution also which means "clearly established" doesn't mean "written into the freaking constitution" it means "we've gotten in trouble for this before" because of the case law. That's just part of my understanding at least. It's made even worse by not teaching cops our rights under the constitution. The term should read be called "ignorance immunity" but then they'd be too apparent in their hypocrisy as "ignorance of the law is not an excuse for violating it"..
@@ZeusKingOfAllGodsthe reason they look for warrants and such is because their Department receives funding based on how “effective” they’ve been. 4 candles. All that for 4 candles. The cop immediately was rude and condescending off the bat. That and he doesn’t even know the laws. Leave the guy alone.
It wasn't over 4 candles. That was the justification. The cop didn't like that a law abiding citizen was telling him to back off of violating his rights. Too many cops see themselves as some sort of lord in the streets and they often take exception to anyone who challenges their "lordship."
Cops are supposed to be apart of the community. Bc recently they barely are anymore, some of them help the state way more then they help their own community.
Yeah, this officer is so profoundly clueless it's unreal. Reckless burning? It's a candle sitting on pavement being continuously monitored by a person sitting a couple meters away. The officer is such an arrogant prick it's beyond amazing! Imagine what he must think of the of the 4th of July!!!!!!!
Notice how the female cop asked “why aren’t they lit?” When referring to the candles, the male officer didn’t bother bringing up the reckless burning charges to her cause he knew it was bullshit and would’ve made it clear to her his intentions.
Damn near made me cry, it's such a simple and human response to someone grieving yet it caught me fully off guard. It's sad that officers like her aren't more common.
The summer burn ban must be strict in Washington because they have forested islands that are difficult to access. And the law might stupidly apply to the entire State. Canadian Gulf Islands to the north it's normal for a month of not even electric tools permitted outside. We have to be strict about this - yeah even a jarred candle on asphalt - because we can't have idiots testing their own judgment about what they imagine is safe. Cop was not genuinely concerned about the "reckless burning", as he disregarded offers to extinguish and gave no lecture on the topic.
The scary part to me is that the cop only backed down because the female officer didn't approve of what he was doing. If an equally bad officer showed up it would've gotten even worse.
What about the hostility from the 2nd cop? "Are you causing trouble?" That is a pointed implying statement. As opposed to. "Good evening, I am Officer XYZ. What's the situation here?" No accusation. Allows people to affirm their stance and doesn't make it a zero-sum game... Not to mention that you would think that in a small town, your sergeant would inform you of matters like vigils during roll call/muster... I wonder if these officers would like their family members treated like that...hmm🤔
@vin1882 I am convinced that cops believe such things could never happen to their children, siblings, parents, loved ones.... I cannot come up with any other reason for their overwhelming smug indifference to tyrannical bully cops. This particular example bothers me a lot. How can the LEO not recognize a candlelight vigil, or be so unaware of a significant event within the community? He must consider himself to be outside (above) the community he patrols. It would seem his power tripping ego negates a citizen's grief, from his point view. They show disdain for the public, then act butt hurt and indignant when the disdain is reciprocated.
@@vin1882, her "are you causing trouble" at first -- to me -- sounded like she knew the guy and it was being said in more of a friendly, kidding manner. Regardless, I'm on the young man's side totally but she didn't sound like that was an intimidation tactic. I think she drove up and saw him just sitting there and realized this was going to be a nothing burger, as the saying goes.
the fact that he literally told the guy to put the candles out but once the female cop asked why they weren't lit he INSTANTLY went to back-tracking. He knew exactly what he did wrong but his ego just couldn't let go. This is a perfect example of someone that has no business being in law enforcement regardless of how much extra training he gets.
They AREN'T law enforcement. They are revenuers and enforcers. They break more laws than they enforce. To enforce the laws these meatheads would have to know them.

That will never happen because of “Qualified Immunity”. The system allows the police precinct’s “Internal Affairs Department” to investigate their officers conduct and will always determine the police officers did nothing wrong. This only enables and continues bad cops to harass innocent people.

True, but he may have been annoyed that his mourning was interrupted by a cop that was flashing blinding lights in an already lit area while he sat there minding his own business. The cop walked up to him with the thought of reckless burning already in mind when it was obvious that he was mourning
@@Zteyuopui It does seem that way but at the same time it's kind of obvious that Mora didnt commit any criminalistic behaviour and had 4 candles in front of him.

Yes if you are a person capable of empathy and compassion if you see an individual sitting at a park bench in the dark with lit candles you might first suspect that the individual is not mentally well, in this case it was grieving, but other cases might be that the person is depressed or something like that... But yes why couldn't he just treat the dude like a normal human being is the real question here. The officer here should have been concerned about the individuals mental health, not about whether he has committed a "crime" by lighting candles wtf? That is just the biggest BS accusation first of all. He just wants to get that guy in trouble for no reason because he's a bully. A cops job is not only to arrest people for crimes, sometimes their job is also about looking out for their fellow human beings if they see a person who might be suicidal for example, to step in and help in those scenarios. If they patrol an area it should be because they are there to make that area safer, not to be "looking for bad guys". A cops job is to serve the community, and make the community safer and better. This cop clearly is not capable of understanding the big picture of his job, as he is probably only a cop to be a bully.

I get the feeling if she hadn't shown up and been a calming presence this would have gone a very different way. She did exactly what she was supposed to do and should get credit for that.
Yes, she seems like someone who has taken the time to get to know some of the people in the neighborhood she patrols. At least enough to know that there was a vigil for someone lost to the community. If she would have been first there, I could see her mourning with the guy instead of harassing him.

You can tell they aren’t on the same page when she politely turns off her light bar as to not blind them, seems confused as to why the candles are no longer burning, and generally treats him with respect as if he hasn’t done anything wrong. The three polar opposite behaviors of the first officer.
Sadly, That's the reaction most citizens sitting on a park bench anywhere in this country doing the same thing would receive from law enforcement- Lot's of attitude & arrogance & unlawful demands. I was surprised that things didn't escalate during this encounter with the young man going face down on the pavement with cuffs on. If the supervisor had not arrived no doubt he would have.
The male officer deserves an F grade. The only reason that the situation didn't get violent is because the female officer de-escalated it. "What does it look like?" offended the male officer, but it is a question he really needed to think about before he did anything. It looks like candles burning after a vigil. It doesn't look like a man trying to burn down buildings.
Agreed. "What does it look like?" Is a valid response and question contextually. Cop then had every opportunity to respond with his own narrative or investigate further. All logic went out the window and emotion took over.
@thesteverobinson666, the male officer did absolutely nothing wrong he was asking a growass adult man normal logical questions and was met with smartass rude comments, and then matched that monkey with his bullshit, the only one who escalated it was that guy, the only one who wouldve made it violent was that guy, the cop wouldve only needed to do anything if the guy started shit, so that guy is the only one who needed to de escalate anything with his trashy back talk rude attitude like a 10 yr old disgusting.

He was looking for an excuse to puff out his chest. People like that have no business being police officers.
You notice how the officer's hand keeps dropping? That's a "Reaching for a gun" movement. It was VERY obvious the reason he kept saying "You want to go there??" And constantly trying to escalate, rather than de-escalate, was that he was looking for an EXCUSE to shoot. He called the second officer to use as his excuse as well. "If this other officer backs me up I can kill this person without getting in trouble." It is not inconceivable that, once back at the precinct, this guy got in the face of the fellow officer to scream at her for not "Backing him up"
"I got someone else coming" That's not what he ORDERED YOU TO DO. He specifically said "BRING YOUR SUPERVISOR", a command that YOU, as a police officer, have to comply with.
Actually, no law or right that requires a police officer to bring their supervisor to a scene if requested. Some departments have policy to do so, others do not.

This trend or whatever you want to call it needs to be reversed immediately. Not making excuses for the officer, because what he did was uncalled for 100%, but I can confirm first hand that this town is boring af, and there's actually nothing to do. "C-" is too high. he was rude and aggressive right away and with ZERO evidence that the guy mourning his friend, was a threat. The instant escalation and ignorance of the law means he should have got an "F".
If that's an f then what would an illegal arrest be? F-? What if he beats the guy up for no reason? F--? You're basically doing grade inflation... or rather hyper deflation exaggeration in this example
He was literally just sitting at a vigil. This is definitionally escalating for no reason. Not saying it is fire worthy but absolutely should be strongly reprimanded for his behavior.
This cop just harassed and intimated someone grieving on a public bench for NO reason whatsoever. Abuse of such power should immediately result in his power being permanently revoked! A slap on the wrist is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE! Take these bullies badges away!
The second office demonstrated perfectly why community policing is important. She: 1) Was familiar with the defendant. 2) Knew there was a vigil going on for a woman AND who the woman was. Imagine grieving the loss of somebody and then this doofus shows up.. What a rude invasion of privacy. He did not even have the balls to apologize. Yet he keeps telling the person grieving he's being a "tough guy".

She just didn't need to turn on her brights and police lights to blind someone 3) did the lights help in any way deescalate the situation kr garner any further information about the criminal activities? Excessive brights would somehow prevent, motivate, prescript or prescribe against the alleged crime...reckless burning? 4) the pig doesn't have flashlights like they use in any traffic stop? I love how citizens are expected to know every law and statute, and ignorance to those is never a defense for breaking them. Yet when it comes to police and politicians they are always let off because, "they didn't intend to break the law or violate rights."

Unfortunately, it is because of fear from the majority of people. Many are afraid and ignorantly believe they have to just do what a peace officers says because "IT'S THE LAW!" Due to the fact most are not educated on legal matters, they just go along with the flow of others. And as a result of this, peace officers feel that it can be justified because so many have simply complied for so long. This forms the "ILLUSION OF TRUTH!" I was once informed by an attorney I had on retainer that, "police DO NOT know the law! They ARE NOT LAWYERS!" This is why most of these cases get dismissed or overturned. Officers, in most cases, have very limited knowledge of the actual law. Thus it is wise on the part of the citizen to know their own rights, and not simply trust that the police have your best interest at heart. They are seeking to gain as many arrest and write as many tickets as they can, that is how they get paid!
Poor training. This is what you get when you can become a Police Officer with 15 weeks of training. Sometimes less. In real civilized nations it takes AT LEAST three YEARS to become a police officer.
It happens when you historically build a "law enforcement" centered on trapping SLAVES. Not much has changed in their training morally especially on small cities in the Midwest and South.
Here is the best comment of all. If you are a cop and you are reading this, put a hand on your heart! Do the right thing and get an honest job. No one asked you to do what you do, and society does not need your ticket issueing, money collecting blue gang. Please consider getting an actual honest and paying job to support you and your family.
Cops don't wonder why they're hated, they know full well why and for many cops the more they're hated that's a badge of honor. Cop abusive behavior is very deliberate, they want to be feared because that's control.
Why a paid suspension? Where's the punishment in that? It is essentially a paid vacation. A paid suspension is fine if it is necessary to relieve the officer of duty WHILE INVESTIGATING an allegation...but NOT for disciplinary purposes. The way the cop responded, I could tell he was on a power trip. Instead of trying to deescalate the tension, he continues to increase it. I wouldn’t be surprised if the cop had previous complaints against him prior to this encounter.
"Okay, amp yourself up then, if that's the route you wanna go"
He's literally encouraging escalation. How is that guy not fired?!
Yep, he’s terrible
Cops are not your friends. Stay silent. Request a lawyer.
The second officers actions prevented this event from completely going off the rails. She should be commended.
Absolutely. FIrst cop was seconds away from trying to put him in cuffs. 100%
@@Packer1290 Definitely agree with that.
The only thing I'm really particularly unsure of is whether Mora is just a jumpy rookie that was overcompensating for his lack of confidence or a piece of crap that just wanted to start a fight.
I want to agree but i also dont want to commend her for doing her basic duty.
@@jackfoxx6351- If we want good results, we need to commend good behavior along with condemning and addressing undesirable behavior. We need carrots and sticks to break the Thin Blue Line. Otherwise, we're very likely to continue to get a lot of undesirable behavior.
Also, when the female officer arrived, she immediately said “are you causing trouble?“. Her intention was to back up her fellow officer, assuming she was called there for a reason, and this guy was causing trouble. I could understand why she would assume that, but she had the wisdom to watch and listen and quickly determined that the man was doing nothing wrong and then de-escalated the situation. She definitely deserves an A in my book. I bet she is a kind spirit and a good officer.
Please all love with her she was joking with me and didn't have the knowledge when she pulled up all love and respect for her 😊
she was being sarcastic... but we both agree that she acted perfectly as a LEO and a human being..

I see this comment all the time, but this episode truly emphasizes the point: There REALLY is no situation that police cannot make worse.
@@HollywoodbearluvI remember watching a video of a domestic abuse situation where the officer arrived and forcefully threw the victim to the ground and handcuffed her because she wouldn't let him into her apartment.

I know a topic. In California in 2011 it took me 1600 hours to become a licensed cosmetologist, now 1000 hours. In CA it takes a minimum of 664 hours to put a deadly weapon in a narcissists hand and call them police officers.

Wait you're telling me the 25 yo who shaped my neckline like a highway off-ramp has been doing this for at least 1000 hours?!
You made him put the candles out?? That cop is nothing but a power hungry bully.
I wouldn’t say he directly made him put them out
@@nick.100 i would argue he did. the entire reason the officer interacted with him was the candles stating a "reckless burning charge" with the man asking him multiple times if the officer would like him to blow out the candles. the officer does indeed tell him to put them out at 3:48. "do you want me to put them out?" "im telling you."

@@frostieschocopop yeah he was being an ass
The fact the second cop asked why the candles weren't lit for the vigil was crazy irony
I love how citizens are expected to know every law and statute, and ignorance to those is never a defense for breaking them. Yet when it comes to police and politicians they are always let off because, "they didn't intend to break the law or violate rights."
Makes perfect sense to me. The people who need to know all the rules as the core element of their job are granted qualified immunity when they break those rules, and everyone else isn't. Just like how developing children are arrested and charged for committing crimes, but grown adults are let off the hook. Wait no, that's the exact opposite of reality and logic. Now I'm confused. XD
@@casbynesslmao had me in the first half
We can thank rulings like Heien v. NC by the SCOTUS creating a double standard.
It doesn't matter if we do or do not know the law verbatim, cops are permitted to lie or make up law out of thin air.

That you know of***
Ever make you wonder how law enforcement got the notion they could demand people justify their own existence?
Unfortunately, it is because of fear from the majority of people. Many are afraid and ignorantly believe they have to just do what a peace officers says because "IT'S THE LAW!"
Due to the fact most are not educated on legal matters, they just go along with the flow of others. And as a result of this, peace officers feel that it can be justified because so many have simply complied for so long. This forms the "ILLUSION OF TRUTH!"
I was once informed by an attorney I had on retainer that, "police DO NOT know the law!
Happens when people treat them like they're above everyone and holier than thou. It was a mistake for people to start treating them special.
@@jeffstewart7439100% correct.

How can a public servant talk like this to a citizen and still have a job.
And the cops wonder why people hate them. THIS is the situation for a paid suspension, not when a cop brutalizes someone or violates their rights.
The police department I worked at in my younger years never allowed disciplinary suspensions to be paid or even covered with personal leave time. If it was a punitive suspension..it was UNPAID.
@@readingfrenzy3818 trust me, not allowing assholes like this guy to swing their dick around while in uniform even for a day, is more than enough punishment. Douche bags like this LIVE to use their authority to bully people, thats why they became cops! Giving them a paid or unpaid suspension isnt going to change that, only communicateing to them what is and isnt allowable will fix anything and thats was a suspension (paid or unpaid) does.
