I am interested in this as a new hobby. thanks for showing how the plants are shipped from California Carnivores. I clicked the Like and Subscribed button!
Robert, thank you so much! I really appreciate it. It's an amazing hobby, a little on the addicting side, but amazing!
I'm really enjoying your videos. I am awaiting some plants from California Carnivores at the moment. I'm so excited! I'll be sure to use your code next time I order.
Thank you Michele! I appreciate you watching and your kind words.
Dear Reader,
It would be even more interesting, if Mr, Carnivorous Plants Hub would revisit every unboxed plant, and give tips to grow them and multipli them.
A good tip for killing aphids, eating drosera would be very welcome also.
And how to grow these plants from seed, that's a hole new world to discover.
With Kind Regards,
Michel F. van den Brun

Thank you for the feedback, I'll try to include more plant updates!
The plants look cute
They are incredible!
Its an art in itself just wrapping these plants up for posting! As for the new names, i can't keep up with half of them, just so many hybrids, infact i think far too many, how many will be around in twenty years from now?
The folks over at California Carnivores do as good as a job as I've ever seen wrapping these plants for transit. They honestly don't do it because of being on video, they do it to keep the plants safe. They really do an incredible job! And yes, the names can be a bit dizzying sometimes!
So cute!
California carnivores really sets the bar when ordering plants online. I wish all plant shippers took as much time and care when shipping out a plant. (Carnivorous or not) I do the same thing you do… i’ll open up my plant mail and immediately go check to see if there’s anything I might’ve missed or if something new has been added. 😂
Yes! I 100% agree with this!! ❤️
Kraken is a very cool VFT name! I think of mine as Hydras
Ha! I'm not sure there has been one named Hydra, but they do look a lot like a hydra. That would be a cool name too!
Great video. Just ordered their mini bog kit. Can't wait. Got my first fly trap in the mail today. Have the pot in a bowl with distilled water. Will check it tomorrow with TDS meter. So excited. Subscribed!
The mini bog kit is awesome! You will really love it! Thank you so much for your sub!!!
Happy mail
The happiest of all the mail!
Great assessment of plants 🌱 I liked the red one the most. Not to say that California carnivores isn’t great but I go to several websites to find the carnivores plants I really want like Gj bloody nurse
There are other places that have amazing venus flytraps no doubt. Matt over at Flytrap store has some amazing flytraps too, I've never received a bad plant from him!
So pretty! I almost got one of those red flytraps but I ended up getting a ping and a bunch of planting supplies instead 😂
Oh man, so hard to go wrong with pings though. They are just amazing, plus a little less fussy to grow!
I rescued my Venus fly trap from a b&q (uk version of home depot basically)
I just picked up a couple of Lowes rescues, they were in great shape! If you are patient, you can find some nice ones!
The only movie that comes to mind is Hard Candy. I'm not sure if that is correct though.
Nice additions to your collection!
Thank you Arthur!
Q: I bought two VFTs at a local grocery store. The kind in plastic tube. I’ve had them for about a month and they haven’t shown much growth. I’ve since taken them and placed them in a deeper pot so they can stretch their roots out. Filtered water, grow light, a few bugs…but they don’t seem to have the vigor for growth you’d expect. What could be wrong??? Please help
Hiya!! amazing ~peace out. 💯
Thank you!
Amteborous really said “don’t look at me” and closed when you were holding it😭
Haha. I didn't notice that until I watched the video back this morning. I was wondering if anyone else would notice!
Equiobia looks like the triton
I actually thought the candy cane looked more like the Triton. Especially now that I have trimmed back some of the moss popping up.
Is it better to order them in the summer when they won't be exposed to cold, or in the winter when they're dormant and won't undergo as much shock?
Great question! Going to check to see if he's got a video on it.
Venus flytraps are pretty hardy and can be exposed to cold for a few days without much risk. If you are ordering nepenthes, sundews or pings, you might want to use the heat pack option that California Carnivores offers. I like to order most in spring, but will order in winter or summer. I think you can honestly order whenever you would like. I usually get my package from California carnivores in just a few days. I did have one venus flytrap I ordered of etsy get lost for 11 days, it was in rough shape but made it through!
Its best to order in winter, for the exact reason you mentioned. If they are dormant when they ship, they wont be nearly as stressed, and will wake up in spring like nothing happened.
Did you leave the moss in the pot?
Most of the time yes, however, these were pretty overgrown. I cut some of the moss back to let them breath a bit. Kind of like giving it a hair cut.
@@CarnivorousPlantsHub I pulled mine out completely and put it on my rock. Now it’s growing back again
This soil is a bit different than the peat i'm used to lol
It's probably not all that different, it's just hard to see it well with the moss growing on it!
I have my phone connected to the tv so I can comment and control the videos on my phone lol
Perfect!
Why does Leah Wilkerson like to gove them racy names lol
Lol, it's only racy if you make it racy. hahaha
@@CarnivorousPlantsHub red rocket I was like ok I guess, and then I saw deep throat and I’m like come on now?! Lol
Fast and furious lol jk
Ha! It was Joy Ride. Someone else commented.
@@CarnivorousPlantsHub yeah I saw, was just messin
Joy Ride (2001)
YES! Joy Ride. I loved that movie! RIP Paul Walker
The plants themselves look pretty decent, but that moss or what ever it is around the plant is a real turnoff for me, causing me not to want to order from them.
I guess I understand that, I trimmed most of the moss away (gave them a haircut) and they look fantastic! Also, when you repot them within a year or so, the moss is gone. It's actually really easy to remove the moss, if you do t want it. It pulls off in big clumps. Personally, I like the moss and feel like it gives the plant a more natural look. Especially after the hair cut.
candy man
For the movie? It wasn't Candy Man, it was Joy Ride. Such a fun movie!
