It's an unwritten law about campfires and wood stoves to leave a pile of wood for the next person,in case of emergency fire needed for shelter or bad weather
Just an FYI cause you guys are young and might not be aware - any natural gas stove/heater can be retrofitted for propane. We used to use a "gas and gas" stove in a couple of apartments and one house we had. Now this is back East, but still, you might find something like this in a used appliance store. A gas and gas stove is a stove, oven and also a heater, usually run by natural gas, but like I said, most natural gas appliances can be retrofitted for propane.
It's good that you guys have gone thru so much together already & know each other so well. This is quite the undertaking, very excited for you both. I'm positive you will handle it just fine.✌💕
In France where gas is extremely taxed and thus expansive and where big cars are highly taxed too, we have a hitch on our tiny cars and we use a trailer to transport heavy stuff.
I love your travel videos, but I have to admit I'm pretty pumped about this next stage. The two of you are so relatable I feel like I'm following a relative or close friend. Have fun guys, we'll be right there with you.
Been watching a while and enjoy the journey. One thing to consider would be to keep the Element and have a utility trailer as your truck bed. Better fuel economy. You might want to consider a small Scamp trailer that could be towed as well. UA-camr Slim Potatohead has some good videos on this. A camper trailer can be used for guest and secondary income if you want to go that route. Good luck and safe travels.
Welcome to New Mexico! We have four seasons here: windy, hot, fall and cold, and most of the time they overlap each other. We tend to have very low humidity. It's a beautiful place to live once you get the hang of it. Looking forward to watching all of your adventures here.
Your house is smaller than mine, but you achieve the ultimate success while I’m living miserable. You guys alway seem happy and content, your life is full of adventure and joy. Stay bless, I can’t wait for the finish project
This is exciting. Im so happy for you guys living the American Dream buying Real Estate, & how cool to start your own tiny home estate. Love it. You are my fave alternative lifestyle channel. Best wishes & congrats again!
I'm excited to watch this new adventure of yours and shannon! The house looks like it's very sturdy! I'm sure Shannon will have it looking beautiful in no time. Your views are so beautiful!
Beautiful location, I wonder if a Wind Turbine from Missouri Winds would help with your electrical needs? We had two 5000 watt turbines mounted on our Privilege 615 catamaran sailboat and they kept our large battery bank charged all the time. We did have solar panels but those turbines turning at night was like money in the bank....
We recently swapped our truck camper propane fridge for a 7 cu ft magic chef and it hardly uses any power.. 50-60 ah per day in 75-80 degree weather. They are very efficient. That would be a great truck. The 6.0L engine is very reliable. It’ll be a gas guzzler but the powertrain is very good on that truck.
I am so excited to see what you two do next here! I can't wait to watch you fix up that cabin and build out the tiny home. This is going to be a great adventure!
You've come a long way Nate. It's a beautiful thing to see. From what I know of "off grid living", it's endless projects. You'll be plenty busy, but it will be worth it. You should check out Tyler and Todd channel when you get a moment. Good luck with everything 🙂
I’m in NM now too and looking into something similar to your new endeavor! A 3/4 ton truck should also be able to pull your tiny house - at least so there isn’t a cactus in front of the entry way… or perhaps the rain will make it easier to move the cactus? Good luck!!
Yeah, a regular 120v fridge is the way to go. For my setup I went with a two door mini fridge. Power was never an issue, a lot less expensive and I could really boondock for two weeks and be living large!
Love the cabin with views and in time you will have it all together. That way working on the tiny house won't be a chore. So excited for you both and y'all work as a team of which is awesome. Hugs to both.
God bless you both congratulations on your house love it not to far from others an God bless those who worship him looks like you are on top of everything I hope you get that truck
If you can't find a propane heater have you thought of trying to buy a kerosene heater. There seems to be a bottled gas shortage in the UK. I recently bought a Kerosene heater (paraffin here) as an extra back up to my wood stove, gas and calor gas fires.
I had some property in Oregon and originally I didn't have a mailbox at my home. You'll have to go to your closest Post Office to clarify mail delivery. Probably will have to have a PO Box.
Oh and tiny house blow over all the time out here. Be as strategic as possible where you place it., maybe even make some L mounts. Fr. Theyre tipped over all over out here.
That is so funny you are considering a truck camper. We just got one. Look for leaks, leaks, leaks no matter how nice the seller appears to be. The hole you saw in that camper is most likely the spot for the hot water heater. We are about to switch ours out for hot water on demand. Wish I could send you one of our propane stoves and a Mr. Buddy heater too. May you find something quickly. All the best to you both. A new adventure. Yes!
I picked up an ambulance in Albuquerque for 5k, and the guy had 2 more. A 95 and 97 with the 7.3powerstrock. He buys and sells for the movies. My 94 is great. Let me know if you're interested.
I like seeing this whole thing play out. As for getting mail, you could have things sent to most US post offices and they will hold it for you. This is how I had food sent to myself when I was thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. The post offices around the trail are used to seeing hiker packages, but a post office near you may not be used to seeing packages shipped in "care of" so it probably isn't a bad idea to call the post office ahead of time and make sure they can do things like that (it's possible that some can't). You'll have to label it like this when you ship something/order from Amazon (to pick up in Phoenix, for example): Your Name c/o USPS 6825 S 7th St Phoenix, AZ 85042 You'll need to show your ID when you pick it up. Also, you're both most likely are aware of this, but I just thought I would share for anyone else that didn't know about this either. Cheers, hope everything goes as planned!
Hey guys, get that garden started right away! You can certainly plant root vegetables and have some food off of your property, with a little forethought. Terrific little getaway and I look forward to see where it leads you! I imagine in 10 years, you will have a huge $5 million log home with vistas from every direction!
Very excited for you two and a lot of work to set up but you are in a good place with all that is happening in the world now. Setting yourself up at such a young age. I wish I knew what I know now, back then. Looking forward to watching all of your future adventures and learning a lot from your channel. Nate, been watching you since you were in your first Element van before Shannon and it's been a lot of fun following your adventure, along with Shannon now. You guys are my favorite channel❣️
what a great place! excited to see it come together! i think those camplite truck campers are supposed to be pretty good...aluminum construction, so they're lightweight & they don't rot out...i don't think they make them anymore, but it looks like wherever you were had a new one on the lot - surprising find! :)
what an exciting adventure! I love the idea of using the property as a retreat for fellow friends in the nomadic community. I will definitely follow along and come out when it's ready!
You guys are set up for wonderful off-grid living on some beautiful land. I wonder if that rainwater collection tank freezes up. Maybe keep plenty of water inside to get through the cold spells. I was in Cedar Crest NM coming back from the RTR this year and saw 12° on the thermometer in my minivan. The woodstove should be good for heating water for baths, to the extent that you keep it fired up.
Wind storms can come pretty unexpectedly. Id tie those panels down to the porch. The weather apps will give you an wind warning advisory hours late . Fyi
You were slowly becoming a hippy. Nice haircut. So much change in a short time. You got land with a cabin, a tiny house, and now looking at a bed camper and pickup truck.
Fascinating glimpses of the modern world and alt housing. I like campers. I lived in a Lance camper for a year back in '95. Nothing I really wanted. If I hadn't stumbled on 20 acres with water and power, quite cheap, I'd probably still be in it. Watch the CG stuff and the real weights, but 3/4 ton is probably OK if everything matches up. Used campers used to go pretty cheap. They lie around, people get sick of them. Maybe not so much these days. It's wild about the efficiency of fridges. Like you say, a real refrigerator or freezer is lot of utilitiy and maybe a kwh a day. I have a 3 cuft freezer that is listed at 500 wh a day. In the scheme of things, if people want to get by on relatively low power, they can. But a split heat pump would add up. If there's a Costco you must be close to El Paso or Albqq. Thirteen degrees is what we hit in March during the cold snaps. Sun goes down, so does the temp. Hang in there. Nate seems a bit more enthusiastic than Shannon. You'll get there. Hope you can dig up a nice truck in this treacherous market. Cool vid.
Heed these warning seriously. Youll love it out here tho. I been learning lots. Feels better being off grid. Less worries forsure Youll learn to love the woodstove. Keep a pot of water ontop of it full always. Learn to cook on it. You wont be using it during the day much in spring
if high winds are a constant, installing a wind turbine would be a good addition to your new home. Thought on the truck, for a budget you can get a nice 5×8 or 6×8 trailer and tow it with the element.
its always great seeing you both and it looks like your having fun! i am in the high desert of Ca, your view looks very much like mine, however, i do not see Yucca or Joshua trees like we have here, but the beautiful openness with the back drop of the mountains is gorgeous. i live in an 1800 sq ft home and have been using my wood stove forever! that with warm pajamas and a blanket. so, don"t worry, the size of your stove will blow you out of the house with heat, its all you really need. having a backup is always a good idea too* stay well! and have the time of your lives, you have each other and seem to be great loving partners.
Nate, perhaps a wind turbine for power production is in your near future. Definitely loving the "all in" approach. Be safe, stay warm and adventure on my friend.
I’m so excited for you guys, this is the kind of Adventure even at my age I can get into. Wishing you all the best!! Can’t wait to come out and visit and give you a hand.
I guess I've missed alot!!! Sold the Japanese van? Going tiny house? Buying a truck camper? I'm so confused🤔 But I enjoy you guys and watching the journey from when you met to where you are now🌷 I hope I get to meet someone I can enjoy this journey with the same way 😉
It's an unwritten law about campfires and wood stoves to leave a pile of wood for the next person,in case of emergency fire needed for shelter or bad weather
yes... PAY IT FORWARD and hope you never have to COLLECT IT BACK.
Ol school...nice
Righteous❤️!
The good thing about a removable truck camper is that you can use the truck for other things than it being a permanent camper
The shot of Nate shaving his head while sitting on the battery is hilarious 🤣
It's good that you guys have gone thru so much together already & know each other so well. This is quite the undertaking, very excited for you both. I'm positive you will handle it just fine.✌💕

The only thing missing from the Thumbnail Picture for this Video is NATE Holding a Pitchfork.
Nate needed a pitchfork for that thumbnail..

Also I might add, the videos are more exciting than ever. Keep em coming!
I dig the off grid property. I hope you can disclose some cost and expense info in a future video.
That would improve this channel immensely. Small details mean a lot to us viewers so we may hope to accomplish our dreams also.
Here for the adventure! 🙏🏾
I absolutely love your way of life, it's an adventure. I'm Learning so much from both of you. Soo much to do..Wow! An awesome haircut. God bless.
Congrats kiddos, I'm happy for you. Take care and be safe you two.🥳😁👍
Just checking your channel out, did sub, for how long I don't know, will have to watch some of our older stuff, Later
Great video, you guys are amazing. Love the way you work together.
Welcome to New Mexico! We have four seasons here: windy, hot, fall and cold, and most of the time they overlap each other. We tend to have very low humidity. It's a beautiful place to live once you get the hang of it. Looking forward to watching all of your adventures here.
Pretty awesome that you graduated to off grid. I’m recently building an A-frame cabin in the high country of Arizona.
Your house is smaller than mine, but you achieve the ultimate success while I’m living miserable. You guys alway seem happy and content, your life is full of adventure and joy. Stay bless, I can’t wait for the finish project
Stoked you may have found a truck, too! Seems like this is going to be a great move for you guys!
Always get a pre purchase inspection! Looks like a nice truck though, hope you find the right one! Cheers from Cleveland!
This is exciting. Im so happy for you guys living the American Dream buying Real Estate, & how cool to start your own tiny home estate. Love it. You are my fave alternative lifestyle channel. Best wishes & congrats again!
Digging the new adventure!
Best of luck! You both will figure it out!
I'm excited to watch this new adventure of yours and shannon! The house looks like it's very sturdy! I'm sure Shannon will have it looking beautiful in no time. Your views are so beautiful!

I do think a wind turbine would be a great investment out here, especially this time of year! March-May is pretty windy.
Some wind turbines create a nasty low frequency audible hum... watch out for that
Cute little cabin. Very cool that you were able to get your internet set up pretty easily and lt looks like good service. Win!
The adventure continues.
I hope you have a down comforter! I put a fleece blanket over that to hold heat in!
I am so excited to see what you two do next here! I can't wait to watch you fix up that cabin and build out the tiny home. This is going to be a great adventure!

HELLO I REALLY ENJOY WATCHING YOUR VIDEO AND I CAN'T WAIT TO GO ON THIS JOURNEY WITH YOU BOTH I JUST JOINED YOUR CHANNEL ROSA OLBERA FROM TEXAS
Expensive endeavor!
Welcome to NM! The wind is intense this time of year. It’s windy season.
Well it's going to be interesting
I’m in NM now too and looking into something similar to your new endeavor! A 3/4 ton truck should also be able to pull your tiny house - at least so there isn’t a cactus in front of the entry way… or perhaps the rain will make it easier to move the cactus? Good luck!!
Look forward to more videos 📹 in your new place 😀

Excited for you guys! How big is the piece of land that you purchased?
I bought a truck last year, i wish i had one long time ago, its wonderful!
God bless you both congratulations on your house love it not to far from others an God bless those who worship him looks like you are on top of everything I hope you get that truck

Bluetti has uped their game in larger home units
That be cool when you guys get the right truck and camper it will be good for you guys.
I had some property in Oregon and originally I didn't have a mailbox at my home. You'll have to go to your closest Post Office to clarify mail delivery. Probably will have to have a PO Box.
The thumbnail looks like a Norman Rockwell painting 🖌️🎨
Love watching your journey and all the stuff you do with campers tiny house and the element. Thanks for sharing 🙂
That's a really nice piece of land there, with some awesome views. I'm sure you & Shannon will be hiking the ridges of those mountains soon :)
So many projects, you two have your hands full!
Good luck out there👍
That's a great truck! The last great GM truck!
I can't wait to see the truck in the next video. Go get it!!
What an awesome adventure! So glad things are working out.
Wathcing you guys carve out a nice place to live is fun
There is another channel I watch, people bought a cabin in New Mexico and refurbished a cabin, they put in a pellet stove
Life, such an adventure! Thanks for sharing part of yours. Cheers.

Check out Will Prowse for your solar system. I have a Silverado just like that, good choice

That remote location reminds me of that movie, The Hills have Eyes! LOL!

what an exciting adventure! I love the idea of using the property as a retreat for fellow friends in the nomadic community. I will definitely follow along and come out when it's ready!
You're looking at the same type of camper as me even though I don't have a truck yet. Pretty funny... Can't wait to see what you find. 😁

Great ideas. Love the remote location!
All the best for your projects.
One more option is govplanet auction. I've seen military hummers go for 5k then sold privately for 35k.
Happy to hear you are going with the 3/4 ton truck! Good decision! Enjoy!
Wind storms can come pretty unexpectedly. Id tie those panels down to the porch.

Happy Hair cut Nate!!!!!
You were due
Best wishes on the 🏠
Snuggle time. Keep warm. Spring is around the corner.
Lots of changes. So exciting! I love your new home.

Absolutely beautiful property. The cabin is adorable. And glad you finally cut your hair, looks good on you.

glad to see your branching out and doing fully semi offgrid. :D
Nate, perhaps a wind turbine for power production is in your near future. Definitely loving the "all in" approach. Be safe, stay warm and adventure on my friend.
It seems like many people have had problems with them and had to give up using them.
Thanks for sharing this video, interesting and informative
Do you need a long / full size bed for a truck camper? Enjoying the new chapter!👍👍
On todays episode on Elements stuffed good luck in the desert Nate!
You guys will have that cabin nice a cozy in time.
I’m so excited for you guys, this is the kind of Adventure even at my age I can get into.
Wishing you all the best!! Can’t wait to come out and visit and give you a hand.
Looking forward to having you stop by, Ron!
Maybe a little propane Dickerson will work in that space!
Wood stoves are way better than a propane heater
I guess I've missed alot!!! Sold the Japanese van? Going tiny house? Buying a truck camper? I'm so confused🤔 But I enjoy you guys and watching the journey from when you met to where you are now🌷 I hope I get to meet someone I can enjoy this journey with the same way 😉
Wind turbines. And keep that tiny house ready to go, it looks like fire country out there. I can’t wait to follow your new journey.
