    Timmy's build from Truck House Life solves both the water runoff issue AND the headroom issue by having a roof that is peaked in the center.

    I think the thing I really liked about this video is just the overall transparency that you show Nate. Long time subscriber and I was impressed by the build when you did it 9 months ago and just the desire to learn from mistakes. Don't see that often. Big fan

    I too built a camper like this - for the door leaking, I would add a metal flange (flap) that extends over the cap and add some weather stripping behind it. For the white paint scuffs, paint it in semi-gloss, and use Mr. Clean sponges to clean up the scuffs. The Mr. Clean sponges might work without even making it a semi-gloss. I'll put a video together of my build and share it. Thanks for sharing what you learned!

    I really appreciate the self evaluation you have done! I will be doing a flatbed build 2025 with canvas and Durabak..love the validation. I have done light paint in the past, and one thing that has helped is a single "medium thick" coat of water based spar varnish (does not yellow) over the paint. Satin or matt finish keeps the shine down and a quick wipe with a magic eraser gets the scuffs off without taking paint. Exterior door molding will help direct water away from the gaps. Durabak the interior surfaces of the door jam with a .25 inch sill plate to direct any water away from the inside. I have added larger rubber automotive trim gaskets to my door(s) opening as well on test builds. Now I have to go back and binge watch your whole build! Excellent job!

    Like manufactured Rv's, try using/installing rv rain gutter strips where needed. Also your camper if building an overhead bed for sure will give you a lot more room. If you're gonna go to all the trouble & money, build it so you can stand up all the fully in it. Give yourself that enjoyable room for u & a friend. For weight,,, build with cedar, frame & all. This will give you the lightest weight possible. I've seen a video with you and Endgame camper, Dave. He builds all his with cedar. He has one (7.0 build), you can stand up fully in it with a overhang bed that's only 650 pounds. Thats incredible! I'm gonna start building mine here hopefully soon, with the same technique. Looking forward to your next build!👍

    I'm building my own camper i ended up making it 6ft interior which is perfect for me to stand up and I installed a full size rv door on sale for 150 dollars and I'm using some plastic 1/8" sheets to cover the outside and using trim on the corners i ended up not doing a cab over to keep it simple and lighter.... these campers around me are insanely priced building one is completely worth it all the wood only cost me 500 and I probably have about 1k into the entire thing so far

    I think I would go with your previous truck campers you had on the back of your truck. I would think they would be easier to maintain and would be lighter, plus they can expand to allow you to standup.

    Hello, I have watched a few of your videos. Can you please talk (in your future video) about (or is it already covered in one of your videos?) how your truck camper is secured (attached) to your truck? Also Did you add any extra framing support to the four corners where your four jacks are used to lift your truck camper? Thanks again...

    If you want to go white inside I would suggest FRP. If glued to plywood it is very tough and wipes clean easily. You can get in various textures, or smooth.

    FYI,
    As there are auto wrecking yards in the world, there are also
    Rv wrecking yards where all you will find is old Rvs whose parts
    are for sale. ALSO-Elkhart, Indiana is ground zero for most of
    the Rvs built in the US. Also in this town are a couple of HUGE
    warehouses open to the public just stuffed to the rafters with
    brand new Rv parts acquired from the Rv makers in town.
    Discontinued items and such. Everything in these warehouses
    go for cheap.
    !

    if you run an aluminum strip across the back on the roof like you did above your door, the bulk of your rainwater will be diverted to the back corners.

  • @atubeviewer4942
    @atubeviewer4942 22 дні тому

    If you think an angle on the roof will fix your leaking door problem, jack up one end or one side and put some 2x6 and plywood as a wedge. That will angle the roof, test it and see if it works, the 1.5" angle shouldnt bother you to much.

    I don't know on this one you always build out or rehabilitate aesthetically pleasing vehicles but this thing is terrible-it's ugly and on that big old gas guzzling truck it's like wow why not drive a class A. It's a waste of material and money. Love the channel and always leave positive comments-sorry for the hard take here but I hope you don't continue on with this behemoth.

    • @chownzi2461

      Building a camper is way cheaper than a class a plus he can still tow with the truck plus you learn from building and build your skills and the truck is way easier to drive and you can park anywhere

      He took pride in building what HE wanted. And it's working for him. I think it's not bad. I'd change a few things, just as he suggested. Anybody can go BUY a camper like the many of hundreds of people. Most are cookie cutter units. When you build, it's one of a kind and if you are happy with it , that's all that matters. Great job.😎👍

    • @dreamlookautodetailingauto3353
      @dreamlookautodetailingauto3353 Місяць тому

      Sometimes people don't have the money to buy class A stuff. Or even if they do, maybe they'd rather save the money and try to build themselves. I believe if he does build another camper, I believe it will turn out well. He's got the ambition, curiosity, & drive to build it. People that don't know how to do things for themselves, instead pay big bucks to buy new or have other people to do for them. These people are lazy in the mind and don't try to build & create. Afraid of failure! Even the best builders fail. But the never give up!👊
