Careful of the words you use, they are powerful. The hose doesn’t cause cancer, you are blessed and covered in prayer 🙏!!!!
Proverbs 18:21 puts it this way: “The tongue has the power of life and death.” The stakes are high. Your words can either speak life, or your words can speak death. Our tongues can build others up, or they can tear them down. I’m learning this daily guys! Love the channel

I have a GREAT idea. Since the exhaust is so SAFE.... please feel free to stick your head on top of it for 2 minutes and breath all the air. You WILL be fine right?
Dont rely on tech to keep you safe. If you need to ask the question then VENT it outside PLEASE. After 20years working in a "safe" asbestos mine people eventual said ops not safe but they thought the same thing as you do in the back of your mind.
I can come for free and do the work you supply the pipe.

FYI - Suggest you look at getting 1 or 2 of the Zero G hoses from Walmart. They are drinking water approved and you have no problem rolling and unrolling them. They are black in color and feel like a fabric versus vinyl. They are very lightweight too. We used to have a couple of those white hoses and we now use the Zero G in our 5th Wheel RV with no problem.

I'm going to be living off-grid pretty soon. I'm excited and a little scared too. I have never been 100% off-grid. Once upon a time I killed my breakers and used solar to power my lights, propane to cook with but I've never been without instant access to water. That's going to be a challenge but if I didn't think I could overcome it then I wouldn't be doing this. I'm a scientist. I built a nuclear fusion reactor (not self sustaining). If it was self sustaining then finding the off switch in a malfunction would be difficult. I've built some weird stuff. This step could be my chance to explore my creativity to the fullest extent. But still, failure is always a possibility..

Hello first time watching. To make life a little easy when empting your water supply tank on the trailer to your holding black tank. Add a air valve to the fill cap, to the water supply tank to pressurize the tank with compress air. Do not over pressurize the tank, watch and see how fast it empties

Solar thermal is a fun way to make hot water as you can run it fully off sunlight with the collector array and a solar panel to run the pump. The evacuated tube setup is best in a place with snow as it is much harder for large amounts of snow to build up on a round pipe then on a large flat panel.

Of course it's not frozen; your temp gauge said it was 35 degrees. Let's see if it freezes when the temp hit -20 for three days. Still appreciate the video. Thanks.
Note: I have a 1500 gallon tank with the top cut off, buried 4.5 feet for my Goldfish. And only the top inch will freeze when it gets to -10 for one day. I just push down on a 2x3 foot floating plastic solar blanket to break the ice. The extra 1.5 foot deeper does make a big difference. Good luck.

+chas marischen sure the top or our tank freezes a couple of inches when is gets super cold but it doesn’t effect its performance. Water is taken from the bottom of the tank.

Awesome video, thank you. When you showed the view of the forest and lake in the background I KNEW you were in North Idaho. My wife and I have land 30 minutes east of Coeur d Alene where we intend to retire. We got an estimate of 28K to drill a well so we decided that we will install a water tank and haul from the public source 9 miles away. I searched UA-cam for "best water tanks for areas that freeze", and there you were. Now I'm going to watch your well drilling videos to see what happened. Hope to see you in noridaho...Geoff and Lynn

I'm going to be building a home south of Coeur d'Alene. What towns have water in them that you can fill up for free? Right now, the well drillers are scheduled so far out, even if you can afford the cost, its not feasible to use well water to get initial occupancy. Eventually, I will have enough rain water collection, that I won't need to schlep water, but I will definitely need to do exactly this during construction.

    • @geoffreymilke5176
      @geoffreymilke5176 4 дні тому +1

@ hi Rich. I don't know much about what is available in the areas south of CDA. We do like St Maries and there is most likely free or very low cost water there, but I'm not certain
We live east of CDA and people get water for $5 at the 76 station in Kingston. Fill as much water as you can transport
Also, the year we've been here Rain Water Catch systems would have worked great. We don't need it because we moved into a small community with its own water system and it's only $17/mo for all the water we can use
We're just outside the Silver Valley and we love it

I just watched your video on drilling for water.
We are roughly in the same position as you are. We are just starting. We're on the opposite side of the world to you same weather conditions. Across the way there well is at 54 m
We have been told that we might have to drill to 100 m.
I hope I truly hope I do not have the trouble that you had drilling for water.
Because finances a bit tight at the moment.
But again thank you for your video

I wouldn't mind a full tour of the cabin, looks like you guys have made a ton of progress!
    .
I know you haven't had any problems with the water heater _yet_, but at LEAST relocating it to the laundry/utility room should really be on your short list of projects. Preferably with a vent to the outside.
    .
We use a Big Berkey filter for our drinking and cooking water. We had a Berkey Lite and replaced it after the plastic cracked. The only "complaint" is the expense of replacing the filters once a year.

In the video they explain that this water heater is the original outdoor water heater that they used when they were living in tents during the building process and that they are going to be upgrading to a proper indoor water heater and they will be relocating the water heater at that time.
Everything cost money and they are prioritizing where/when money is spent.

Great Job on the Videos you've done.. Quick side note on the tank less water heater.. It would be well worth your time to add to the hot water side coming from the tank a stainless steel flex pipe.. ( add between the tank and the Pex Pipe) this will dissipate the heat from the tank less hot water heater, and avoid the possibility of future problems.. Pex will work.. but the heat could cause deterioration of the integrity of the pex pipe over time.. better safe than sorry... Kepp up the great work..

You seem to be a happy family on a great adventure. Idaho is beautiful. I want to find your adventures in Tennessee next. I'm just getting caught up but if you are going to be there much in the winter you might think about insulating the floors above the crawl space. Though heat rises you must be "spending" a lot of your heating budget to keep all that area warm. You would then need to worry about your water pump freezing but maybe you could build a wall around round it and heat a much smaller space.

Put strengthened guttering on house and barn and connect to rainwater tank. No more trips to town multiple times . God bless.

collecting rain water is what we do up in Northern British Columbia. Run it past a water purifier (UV Light) and done. Don't drink it but good for all other water needs.
What is the cast iron train thing on the stove?

I'm new, I'd love to see the cabin! And a walk through of the apartment, too.

Yes, I'd like to see a complete cabin tour. Seeing that you appear to have 2 teenagers, how long does 2500 gallons last y'all? What is the average winter low temps where you're at? I'm moving to the Kenai Peninsula area of Alaska in the next year or so. From what I'm tracking of weather data so far, it seems that zero is about as cold as it gets there during the winters (2 winters worth of data so far). There may be 4 or 5 days over the entire winter where it gets below zero. I'm interesting in doing something very similar to what you've created so any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
