Politics has everything to do with this. These safety regulations were dictated by unelected bureaucrats. Not even passed through congress. The auto manufacturers should have been fighting this in court. All they had to do was delay it long enough for Democrats to get out of power. ATF bureaucrats tried to do the same thing in the gun community but the gun manufacturers fought them in court. Trump's bureaucrats are now going to reverse all the ATF regulations. A budget AR-15 cost $500 which is cheaper than when Obama was in office. Not only are they cheaper, but they're also better. The price of everything does not need to go up. The price can go down and things can get better.
Trump ran up the national debt by trillions in his first term and fixed very little of the fundamentals in the economy. We get that you hate Obama. But it seems to be clouding your opinions and you lose credibility.
@@pappydaddy7447 Nah, Obama started this crap , and his legacy has been greatly diminished as of late. I knew we were in trouble when he lit the white house up in rainbow colors.

100% agree with you…bought a new f150 in august. I hated it…I hated being nannied by all of the features and the screen…you could turn it off, but the second you turned the volume job or and heat controls, it lit back up…it was plagued with trans issues from the get go. Paint job was terrible…when I would turn the truck off it would go into battery saver mode. Dealer explained that because of all of the features I had to drive at least 35-40 miles a day to charge the battery. Don’t even get me started on ota updates…I had it for 30 days and dumped it for a 2019 4Runner with none of the crap…back to having an actual vehicle…I get the frustration!
Leave it to the Auto Industry to get Americans to hate cars and trucks. They should have taken the EPA to court and fought them. The Supreme Court has already said that government agencies are not a law making body.
Very good video, homie. I love your honesty. I felt disappointed when I saw this model. Looks great, but I was looking forward to an affordable, reliable Tacoma. This ain't it.

I hear what you're saying, and I absolutely agree with you on the price factor. They increased the prices by a pretty ungodly amount for a whole lot of nothing that immediately meets the eye. I agree with some of your complaints/critiques, I disagree with others. There's a point in your vid about 2/3 through where it seems like your just complaining to complain honestly. You knew a lot of these things were there and yet you bought it anyway. You have to hold yourself accountable to a certain extent. -Mudflaps should a standard on every truck & SUV to prevent windshield damage to other vehicles when you inevitably throw a rock. You complained about the mudflaps because snow builds up in them? Yeah so grab a stick and knock it out. Or just tap it with your foot It's not hard. -The electric tailgate is stupid I agree. -The coil over suspension that replaced the leaf springs was from customer feedback that made the trucks hard to park/turn ect. and people wanted a smoother ride that handled bumps better. Less people are using their trucks for truck stuff now. -The Hybrid Power Train is new. You knew that when you bought it, it's benefits are 326HP increase from the Gen 3's 278HP (V6) and better MPG's potentially but not guaranteed. Equal to or better lifespan? Only time will tell. Hopefully, cuz that's the real reason why people buy Toyota's, they want a vehicle that LAST's. -Stock tires are trash I agree. Not good value. -Your rant on the running boards is personal preference. I find side-steps useful to have, I prefer them over rock-sliders cuz I'm not a weekend warrior and I don't go mountain climbing. Running board are a compromise between side-steps and rock-sliders. Use them or toss them.
I did not buy it. They gave it to me as a loner because of a factory screw up with my 2022 that was covered under the extended warranty. My 2022 Tacoma was also a rip-off, but not as bad as the 2024. The purpose of the video is to get the word out there. Maybe get word to Toyota management . The mud flaps are not necessary because there's enough of a fender. It's not a flatbed. The slight increase in power is dependent on the Turbo. I question how well that is going to hold up with frequent towing. There's no way to know for sure, because there's no history. They changed everything at once. No way to promise reliability.
The engine shut off feature when you hit the brakes is now required by LAW. It supposedly reduces emissions. So you can expect all vehicles in the future to have that crap feature. I live in the city and drive a truck (nissan frontier) and I hate that feature too. There’s no way it’s good for the engine to turn on and off repeatedly like that.
@ Do you think these greedy car manufacturers care? It doesn’t cost them money. People still buy new cars every year. You even see people dropping $100k on trucks. These regulations do not hinder car manufacturers, they allow them to charge even more money for their vehicles. Unless the US population in mass stops buying new cars we will never see the changes we want. With the current voting population being mostly red it’s plausible but it’s not an issue on the average Americans mind. On the other hand, gun manufacturers cared because it was costing them money. Gun manufacturers were right to sue the ATF because the agency's actions went beyond its authority, effectively creating new laws without Congress. These changes would have affected the profit gun manufacturers would be able to make. Sorry I yapped a bit
Thank you for that update. I would probably run up the 150 k miles in about 6 years. What is the cost for the battery replacement after that? I do not believe these safety dictates were passed through Congress. They were dictated by unelected bureaucrats. The auto manufacturers should have been fighting this in court. All they needed to do was keep the government busy in court long enough for Democrats to get elected out. The same thing happened in gun world. The ATF thought that they could just make law. The gun manufacturers fought the ATF in court. It delayed it long enough for Democrats to get out of power. Trump's bureaucrats are now going to reverse all those dictates.
I completely understand where you're coming from, especially if you're comparing the 2024 Tacoma to your 2012 model. A lot has changed since then, and they really aren't the same truck anymore. Inflation alone makes a huge difference-$21,000 in 2012 is roughly $27,500 in 2024. But beyond that, the federal mandates introduced since 2012 have added a significant cost burden: rearview cameras, electronic stability control (ESC), tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), enhanced roof crush standards, crash avoidance technology, stricter EPA standards (hence the turbo-four), pedestrian safety requirements, and improved side-impact protection for child seats (to name just the big ones I'm aware of). Honestly, it's surprising they don’t cost even more. And when you look at the base turbo-four engine in 2024, it’s delivering a lot more power than what your 2012 had. Unfortunately, you're not alone in feeling this way. Many people who last bought a car in 2019 or earlier are shocked by the current car market. I’ve found myself grumbling plenty too-it's a tough adjustment for all of us.
I don't think the safety mandates were passed by congress. They were dictated by unelected bureaucrats. The auto manufacturers should have been fighting this in the courts. 100% agree. This thing is trash, and I’m sick of all the new cars cramming screens and tech into every nook and cranny. Someone give us a basic, analog gauge, naturally aspirated, reliable truck and you’ll gain a loyal following. This is what we want. I don’t know who they’re trying to cater to??
I bought a 2023 brand new off allocation. I thought it was going to be a 20 year truck. I traded it in after one week. It was brand new. Even that one was an absolute mess. The dealership did nothing about it and they never reported the sale to Toyota. Totally unacceptable.
Nissan Frontier is a good option. People like to hate on Nissan (rightfully so in some regard) but the only negative remarks I’ve heard about the frontiers is the lack of technology.

Bought a 2023 TACOMA TRD OFF ROAD in August of 2023 to buy the last V6 Tacoma. 10 months later the rear wheels seized up multiple times after washing the car, had it towed twice to the dealer, had my drive seat replaced because it was moving while stopping. Wanted to keep the truck forever but had to sell it after a year because of the issues. I believe that Toyota has lost its touch, not only in the 2024 Tacoma but even most recent previous year Tacoma. We are paying for technology and not a solid reliable vehicle, but then again if we can keep a vehicle without issues for 20 years how can the car makers make any money off us?
The changes that the automakers are making are being directed by government bureaucrats. The Auto industry should be pushing back against the bureaucracies. There was a major victory in the Supreme Court last year where the doctrine of Chevron deference was defeated. This gave the government agencies the benefit of the doubt when cases went to court. It was the fishing industry that brought this case against the government agencies. It should have been the auto industry which has a lot more money.
