Great video guys! So many good things! Love Rob's Aussie industrial safety footwear! Your keel is very interesting. We have just been up and had Micron 2 Plus antifouling and Propspeed applied as well as a new cutlass bearing installed. We put three coats around the waterline . Looking forward to seeing the grey beast installed next video. Thought I was going to welcome you to the Y club this video 🤣 I'm hoping I'm right!
Thanks David. Glad you like my "safety boots". Old habits die hard! The micron 2 has worked well for us in the Sth Pacific & East Coast Oz. Too early to tell for SE Asia. We did put 3 solid coats on the keel, skeg, rudder & waterline. Rob.
Wow...This sailboat just keeps getting better. A new Yanmar is a huge impovememnt imo. Just makes it perfect! In my imaginary world, I often wonder whether I would go Yanmar or Beta Marine but usually side on the Yanmar.
@@sailingjaygo ..so we have a bit of a technical question regarding the "C Drive". This is not the same as the Sail Drive that many sailing channels seem to have problems with, right? I have yet to hear of any C drive issues and am wondering if it is a solid bit of kit?
The C-Drive is an Amel design & exclusive to Amels. It is strongly built & very cleverly designed. Very expensive to repair if damaged but easy to maintain. Most problems would occur due to poor engine alignment or poor maintenance schedule for seals, wear bushing & lubricant. Has a multitude of benefits over other drive systems in my view.
@@sailingjaygo ,,,such a perfect design. Sure hope that there are lots of video shots of that engine running. Love the sound and look of it! Don't be afraid to geek out on the technical details if possible!
Hi there, we enjoy watching your Chanel as we to are sailors and live in Moreton Bay, where you spent some time after arrival back into Oz. May I suggest or ask politely for you to improve your mic if you are to continue these videos, the audio is not clear overall, especially when your up on deck or ashore when the breeze comes up. Cheers, hope the boat doing well after her scrub up and the new engine.
Hey HighVibe, Glad you enjoy watching Dee's videos. She basically just films & edits on her phone, so the quality is what it is I suppose. She does have a small BT mic that does limit wind noise, but often she just films spontaneously so forgets about the mic. Her primary motivation for doing the videos is for us to document this time for ourselves but if others find it interesting that is great too. That is why she never asks for anything or for people to subscribe. And thanks, the repower went great. We try to look after our boat, so that she looks after us. 👍
Imagine 2 engines , 2 steering systems , 2 hulls That's what keeps me in Mono hulls ... Doing a great job (You need a painters ceiling sanding pole)
Hey Bill, definitely from a $$$ point of view, although the boat always seems huge when you have to start sanding & polishing!
Thanks for the check up on my Bollard Sea Fever straight across from you guys Grace 2.
Ha! No worries! We hardly had time to scratch ourselves though. Out on Monday & splashed on Friday.
@@sailingjaygo Great videos Rob and Dee
Thanks

It made a huge difference from the old Volvo.

Looking forward to the next ep. Hoping my TMD lasts a few more years but interested in your thought process and choice for the repower.

Hi guys are you still around Townsville as we are in Breakwater marina
@sailingmarilynkaye No. We have arrived in Indonesia already. We love Townsville. Seriously underrated place we reckon.
Wow awesome, we hope you have an amazing time cruising indo, yes Townsville is a beautiful place. Take care and stay safe.

Was there a reason for the engine and gearbox change out eg low oil pressure, high hours, bad oil samples
The trigger point was oil in the coolant. Prime suspect was head gasket but motor & gearbox both tired as well.
whats your total costs ?
More than my first home cost in 1987! The engine & gearbox alone was over AUD$30k for supply only.
